The New Lucena National High School was born as

Cabilauan Barrio High School in 1965. Its birth was the


Zenith of the concerted efforts of multi -sectoral group
comprising of Cabilauan Barrio Council headed by Barrio
Captain Deogracias S. Sotero, PTA Officials headed by PTA
President Pablo Silloriquez, religious sector and some
prominent individuals in the community with the blessing of
Mayor Potenciano Imperial, Sr. This noble move to put a barrio
high school was inspired by DLG - CD Provincial Director
Francisco Hanopol when he became guest speaker during the
1964 Barrio Fiesta celebration. This Barrio high school project
was patterned from the brainchild of Dr. Pedro T. Orata,
Superindentent of Schools of Pangsinan.
The school opened during the school year 1965 - 1966
with only two curriculum years - first year and second year.
There were 39 first year students and 17 second year students.
Its four year levels were completed in 1969 and it was also
during this school year when the first batch numbering 18
graduated.
When the school opened, the pioneer teachers were Mrs.
Luz S. Susarno, Mrs. Marcelina S. Sutacio, Miss Martina
Castigador, Miss Lilian S. Geduspan and Mrs. Magdalena
Sumido who were partimersfromCabilauan Elementary School.
The following year, came Miss Francisca Wong, Miss Eldina
Sulleza, Miss Norma Dator and Mr. Perfecto Supremo.
At its inception, the school was squatting in the vacant
rooms of Cabilauan Elementary School. Then, later it had its
own two-classroom building still on the lot of Cabilauan
Elementary School. From there, the school starting to grow
slowly. During the time of President Ferdinand E. Marcos, a
four - classroom prefab building was built. It was this edifice
that represented what was then Cabilauan Barrio High School.
By, virtue of Batas Pambansa No. 593, an Act Converting
Cabilauan Barrio High School to New Lucena National High
School, the school became the first national high school in New
Lucena in June 24,1983.
From 1965 to 1984, the school was administered by the
principal of Cabilauan Elementary School who served as
Assistant Principal of Cabilauan Barrio High School. Mr.
Servillano Y. Yniesta, served as the first principal of the school
from 1965 - 1966. He was followed by Mr. Salvador S. Sollesta
who served from 1966 - 1970. From 1970 to 1978, Mrs. Lily B.
Sunio was the school head. Mr. Clodualdo P. Parreño succeeded
Mrs. Sunio in 1978 and was the school head when the school was
converted into a national high school in 1983. He presided over the
rapid growth of the school as a newly converted national high school.
From a four-classroom building, it became 12 classroom school with
Home Economics building, Industrial Arts building, Administration
building and library.
When Mr. Parreño retired in 1996, he was succeeded by Mrs.
Asuncion S. Sionillo until 1997 as Officer In Charge. In 1997, Mr. John E.
Torilla, sat as the new school head until 2000. From 2000 - 2004, Mr.
Bonifacio P. Prias was the school head. When he was assigned as
Officer In Charge of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School in
2004, he was replaced by Mrs. Delia C. Bombita as Officer In Charge
forone year. Mr. Prias came back as school head in 2005 until 2007.
From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Gil P. Abillera was the school head. He was
followed by Mr. Pablo C. Cabarles who served for one year, 2010 -
2011. From 2011 - 2012, Mrs. Mary Grace L. Castillo served as principal.
Mrs. Elena S. Aquillo, was appointed principal in 2012 and she served
until her retirement in 2019.
From 2019 to 2020, Mrs. Paulita B. Emberga was designated as
Officer In Charge. And from 2020 up to the present, Mr. Roy S.
Soldevilla has been the school principal.
New Lucena National High School through the years, has always
been a torchbearer of academic and co - curricular excellence to its
clients and a strong pillar of unity and progress in the community.
