Lapayon National High School was established on June 1975
through the effort of the late ex-Mayor of Leganes, Esperidion J. Jagunap with the help of Councilman Alejandro A. Robles Jr. through Resolution No. 42, Series of 1975 It started with 52 students in the first year under Mrs. Patricia S. Arceta as the first teacher. It has no school site and building but luckily there was one (1) vacant room in the elementary and this was temporarily occupied by the first year, the lone class. On June 1976 the second year class was opened and fortunately again through the late ex-Mayor Esperidion J. Jagunap, the school acquired three (3) classrooms. By the school year 1978-79 there was a complete high school with four (4) teachers namely Miss Ehamvelyn Tubongbanua, Mrs. Zenaida Sodusta, Miss Mila Dusaran and Mrs. Ardelita Gonzales and on March 1979, the school celebrated its first commencement ceremony with thirty two (32) graduates. From 1975 to 1987 the school was under the supervision of the Assistant Principal who is also the Principal of Lapayon Elementary School. The first Asst. Principal was Miss Rosalina Berguia and upon her retirement, Mrs. Mercedita T. Guisinga took over. From 1989 to June 2004 Mrs. Patricia S. Arceta was designated Teacher In-Charge of the school and the became school Lapayon National High School in 1994. July 2004 she was promoted as Principal I with eleven (11) teachers and six (6) classrooms and upon her retirement Mrs. Betty B. Sarabia succeeded her as Principal of the school and at the same time as Division Testing Coordinator. Prior to her promotion as Education Supervisor in 2008 Mr. Alfredo D. Paterno took over as Principal until his retirement on January 12, 2015 and Mr. Porfirio M. Pinuela II was installed as the new principal but the stay is not long enough, because he was transferred to his hometown, Zarraga, Iloilo. Mr. Romulo S. Sopeña, Sr. take over on August 10, 2015 as the next principal and gradual change has been establish in terms of academics and physical aspect and year 2016 the senior high school was establish until its term ended last July 2017 when he was re-assigned to other school and Ms. Annie B. Formacion continue his responsibility as Officer In- Charge of the school for more than two (2) years. Dr. Zoilo J. Pinongcos Jr. assigned as Officer In-Charge until November 3, 2021 and Mr. Romulo S. Sopeña Sr. returned as Principal I and he retired December 9, 2021. Mr. Quirico S. Molina Jr., Teacher II assumed the responsibility of an Officer In-Charge until February1, 2023. During his term he continued to develop some of the programs and project left by the previous school heads. Mr. Adriano L. Lagarto Principal I was installed as Officer In-Charge last February 2, 2023. At present Lapayon National High School compose of thirteen (13) junior high school teachers, four (4) senior high school teachers, two (2) administrative assistant and one (1) local school board teacher.
According to school statistics it has already produce thousands
of graduates and many of them are professionals and are successful in their chosen career and field of endeavor……
