History

Ditumabo National High School is located at Brgy. Ditumabo, San Luis, Aurora. It is about
15 kilometers from the town of Baler, which is in the province of Aurora and is said to be the
center of education for that province. On the other hand, the school is about 7 kilometers from
its Mother Town, which is the town of San Luis.
In May of 1967, the Ditumabo National High School was established. With the help of
Honorable Antonio G. Amazona, a member of the San Luis municipal council, Mr. Jose Ungriano,
a public elementary school teacher, Mr. Marcial dela Vega, Barangay officials led by Captain
Celestino Padua, and caring citizens. Ditumabo Barangay High School was the name of the
school. It was the province of Aurora's first public high school.
When school started, Mr. Antonio G. Amazona offered their home as a classroom
because there were no available classrooms at the time. It had 48 kids and two teachers. Those
teachers didn't get paid, but they did get awards.
Since the number of students who wanted to go to high school grew rapidly, Mr.
Amazona's house was no longer big enough to serve as a classroom. Instead, they moved into
the Ditumabo National Elementary School. With the help of the parents, they built a Makeshift
Building inside the school to use as a new classroom.
On August 27, 1976, because they had lost their school, the barangay council held a
meeting. It was decided that the 4-hectare lot donated by Mr. Mariano Villareal would be
divided into two schools.
On June 28, 1980, the barangay once again held a meeting and they decided to ask the
Minister of Public Affairs of Baler, Aurora for a two-building school that had three classrooms
each to serve as classrooms of those students who are studying at the Barangay's High School
towards the improvement of the youths' mentality and gaining knowledge.
Over time, the school slowly improved and changed. There were more students from
Barangay Diteki, Suguit, Nonong, Sr., and L. Pimentel. There were also more students from
Poblacion and Barangay Zarah. Making concrete classes has started.
Republic Act No. 6655, or the Free Public Secondary Education Act, changed the name of
the “Barangay High School of Ditumabo” to “Ditumabo National High School.”
The school had its own "Book of Accounts" in the year 2013. This means that the school
is included in the Big Schools category and the funds from the Department of Budget and
Management (DBM) are transferred directly to the school's account. School expenses came
from School Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE). This is where expenses such
as paying for electricity, supplies for teachers, wages for guards and utilities, and other expenses
are taken.
On January 13, 2013, the K to 12 Program or Republic Act No. 10533 or Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013 was approved by the Philippine government. This corresponds to
kindergarten and twelve years of basic education. Six years in elementary education, four years
as a junior in high school, and two years as a senior in high school. The school currently offers
General Academic Strand (GAS), Technical Vocational - Housekeeping, and Humanities and
Social Sciences (HUMMS).
Many have graduated from the school and are now professionals as well. Currently,
Ditumabo National High School is continuously developing.
