ABKASA National School History

ABKASA (Ang Bagong Katilingban Settlers Association) National high School which is
located at Troso Mandalagan Bacolod City was established in 1978 with four year levels and
started its first operation in 1978-1979. It was an extension school of Bata National High School
with the late Mr. Jose C. Dayot Jr. as its principal.
It started with three volunteer teachers for almost two months. These teachers held
classes in makeshift classrooms in the temporary site in Troso Mandalagan relocation area until
the Sangguniang Panglungsod Member, Hon. Inocencio Y. Lucasan gave permission to his 0.6
hectare lot for a permanent school site and two additional hectare lots in a negotiated purchase
by the Bacolod City Government with the Alunan Real Estate. Through the Bayanihan System
the parents built four classrooms made of nipa, bamboo, and coco lumber.
ABKASA National High School underwent a significant change in 1987 by virtue of
Republic Act 6655 which converted said institution from locally- funded to nationally-funded
secondary school under the administrative supervision and control of the Department of
Education, culture and Sports (DECS).
It is geographically situated six kilometers northeast from the National Highway along
Baranggay Mandalagan. It is accessible to tricycles and few public utility vehicles as a means of
transportation.
