HIS
SCHOOL HISTORY
Alangilan National High School is situated 17.5 km east of the city, 2.5 km from Barangay Proper via
Barangay Road and 3.5 km via National Road. It has six-hectare land areas; 11 buildings with 37
rooms used for instructional and non-instructional purposes; gymnasium; academic learning parks
and tree parks, Gulayan sa Paaralan vegetable production area and animal husbandry.

Most of the students are from Alberto D. Arceo, Sr. Elementary School, Rafael Alunan Elementary,
and Cabatangan Elementary School. They are children of farm workers, cockfighting breeding farm
caretakers, vegetable vendors, drivers, OFWs, small scale entrepreneurs, employees, and teachers.

Alangilan National High School started with two teachers and two freshmen sections located at
Rafael Alunan Elementary School site SY 1967-1968 and as the population increased every year, new
teachers were hired extension from Junior High School to Senior High School k-12 Curriculum.
Recently, Alangilan Farm School has been approved and implemented with teachers teaching from
Junior and Senior High School. At present, the school is headed by a principal (OIC) having 29
teachers (22 from Junior High School, 7 from Senior High School) and 8 non-teaching personnel. It is
now situated in its own school site donated by Bacolod City last 1997 and a service vehicle L300 Van.

The onset of pandemic in 2019 has made a very big mark in the history of education as all mobility
were stopped and made the school apply the Modular Learning (Printed Modules) and Blended
Learning (with Tablets) for 2 School Years already. Students were provided with printed modules
(lessons) and LAS (Learning Activity Sheets) that were answered at home. Distribution and Retrieval
of modules and answer sheets were done every 2 weeks. The IATF regulations of prohibiting
underage population to go out made the schools unpopulated. Only teachers and staff were allowed
to enter school with stricter policies of wearing face masks and face shields, social distancing, and
abundance of alcohol and disinfectants usage. Despite the pandemic, the school is always prepared
for a face-to-face instructions once lifted. Classrooms are arranged with a seat ratio of 1:1 and 1
meter apart from each other.

SCHOOL PROFILE
Alangilan National High School is located at Purok 10, Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City, and is
situated by the hillside. It has a distance of 2 km and 2.5 km from the two nearest public elementary
schools which are the Alberto D. Arceo Elementary School and Rafael Alunan Elementary school,
respectively. Due to the distance basic intervention to increase its population is a need to have
concrete roads so that public transportation like jeepneys and tricycles will have a regular trips every
day.

At present, the school has 830 students with Grades 9 & 10 having the most number of population,
561 from Junior High School and Senior High School reaching 269. Each year level has 4 sections
while Grade 7, after Alangilan Farm School has been implemented, has 2 regular sections and 2 farm
school sections. We have 24 classrooms for advisory and 5 non-advisory classrooms. Each class
ranges from 35-40 students.

We have continuous supply of water from 2 different distant sources, Alangilan Highlands Resort
Water Association and Cabatangan water source, thus, keeping us of the monthly water bill at 1000
pesos each. Water catchments are still available and in use for cleaning gymnasium floors.

To concretize and elaborate more in the school profile, the necessary information in terms of repairs
and improvements was descriptively narrated on the subsequent pages.
