Community organizing and development is the process through which a community empowers itself by

working together to identify and manage problems. This is the process of gaining influence by including
a community in identifying shared issues and preferred answers to those problems, identifying the
individuals and institutions that can make those solutions feasible, and enrolling those targets in the
endeavor by negotiation. This technique builds community members' confidence and capacity to
organize themselves. Social preparation, leadership development, organization construction,
consolidation, and growth are the five stages of the organizing process. Capacity building, project
development, issue and policy advocacy, and partnership development are the four ongoing
activities mentioned. These activities go from simple to complicated problems, each building on the
prior engagement's benefits. In genuine community situations, these acts are strongly intertwined and
interdependent. The mix of community programs and activities is determined by the situation/needs of
the community as well as the capacity of local groups, leaders, and organizers. Its goal is to help coastal
communities become more aware of their situation and environment, as well as to recognize their
collective abilities and responsibility to manage themselves and their environment in a sustainable
manner. It also aims to provide an opportunity for men and women to participate in decisions and
actions that will change their lives, thus developing a sense of ownership and collective responsibility for
such decisions and actions. This also helps in increasing the community's capacity to secure internal and
external financing to support viable and sustained socioeconomic projects, as well as to enable a
community to connect and build alliances for advocacy and technology sharing. In our community, this
has helped a lot in enhancing the beauty of our community. Through community organizing and
development, our community was able to do projects such as tree planting, clean up, feeding program,
Christmas parties for the old people and more. It has also helped on having new barangay hall. This also
encouraged the creation of barricades beside the highway for our community to feel safer. And lastly,
this also helped enhanced our public terminal adding new technologies for us to feel safer, like CCTVs.
Back then, our tricycle terminal doesn’t have cctvs and a proper shed,
HOW CAN YOU HELP THE COMMUNITY IN YOUR AREA?

First and foremost, to help my community, I will be a good listener, and should be a person who can
establish and build working relationships with other people. Because if I am a community organizer, I
will help our community by listening to the people, talking to them, and finding out what their worries
are and what particular points they are facing and would like to fight for, face-to-face, as this will
demonstrate to the people that I genuinely care about helping them help themselves by achieving the
collective end goal, by clarifying common goals through defining the purpose and its associated goals I
will be able to help my community, by developing a blueprint or a checklist of actions that need to be
taken in order to attain the community's aim, I am helping my community be guided for the action we
are taking, and by helping to develop leaders. Because, the more individuals you have willing to go the
additional mile, the more likely you are to achieve your goals in a shorter period of time. I may assist
develop leaders by demonstrating their potential and talents throughout the goal-attainment process.
And I will assist the community by organizing the people, assembling them, and taking collective action
to achieve our purpose. This will expand their knowledge and encourage them to volunteer for
additional initiatives that will benefit the entire community. I will help our community by creating
projects that will boost unity in our area like tree planting, clean-ups, special events, feeding program
for homeless kids and more. I will make sure that everything in our community is fine, doing census, of
who needs financial help and recommending them to every organization that can help, I will also check
for the problems in the community and eliminate them one by one with an accurate and effective plan.
