4. Main attractions:
Respuesta : Ceremonial rooms, chambers that once housed mummies, intricate agricultural terraces and hundreds of
buildings where the ancient villages worked and lived. The flames, in a perpetual procession towards the central square
of ruin, where their real-life relatives would have been sacrificed, are the star attraction.
5. Reasons to go there:
Respuesta : It is an impressive tourist destination since it gives us beautiful landscapes and is an excellent destination
to go hiking.
7. How you can get from the airport to three of its main attractions:
Respuesta: The only way to get to Choquequirao is by land. Currently, the main route is to go to the town of Cachora
three or four hours by road from the city of Cusco (2 hours from the city of Abancay).
There, the walk begins to the Inca archaeological site.
Rainy season (November to March): it is characterized by frequent river rainfall. The sun is not so intense but the rain
can harm the walk.
Dry season (from April to October): it is characterized by the lower frequency of rain. The days are hotter and the nights
are colder. However, the little chance of rain favors the walk.
Due to the altitude at which Choquequirao is located, altitude sickness or soroche can cause discomfort during the
ascent. It is advisable to acclimatize to the climate of Cusco (or Abancay) before starting the trekking.
Unlike Machu Picchu, Choquequirao receives a handful of visitors per day. It is recommended to enjoy nature and the
archaeological site but responsibly.
