Knowledge Gap

There exists little information regarding quality improvement to animated infographics.

While most of the studies concentrate on the impact of this technology on education, little to no

research describes how education can be used to improve the quality of these infographics. The

study explores a knowledge gap in which learners will be provided with customizable

infographics that they can edit to suit their visual preferences (Hassan, 2016).

Motion infographics are mainly used in teaching technical and science subjects to

illustrate process flows. Creative designs with customizable elements will enable students to

adjust the color schemes, object shapes and sizes, text alignment and animation schemes to suit

their preferences (Afify, 2018). When used in this approach, learners acquire knowledge through

the infographics while at the same time improving on their design and appearance.

Science subjects and other technical subject areas such as computer science rely on

motion pictures to illustrate process flows. E-learning in Saudi Arabia relies on the use of

modern technology in disseminating knowledge to open distance learners. According to Alshehri

and Ebaid (2016), teaching mathematics can significantly benefit from the use of interactive

infographics, especially in illustrating the methodical steps involved in certain problem solutions.

When customizable infographics are used in this manner, students can redesign the mathematical

models through creative animations to make the infographics more appealing.

The improvement of the appearance and quality of animated infographics through their

application in e-learning in Saudi Arabia leads to a two-way benefit. Students realize more

efficient ways of understanding process flows while the design and appearance of the

infographics are also improved over time.
