We have our very own 8,000 square foot bookstore, Mosaic Books,
located right below the Bookmanager offices. Our technology and
assistance is rooted in real-world bookselling, and has been our passion
since 1986.
Made for booksellers, by booksellers.
We have over 30 years experience in the indie bookseller game, with over 350 active installa-
tions in large, small and medium-sized shops and we’ve seen the industry evolve dramatically
over the years. During that time, generations of booksellers and their customers have changed,
and we’ve made sure to change along with them.
What sets us apart from other POS providers and inventory programs is that we are book-
sellers too. Downstairs from our offices is our very own Mosaic Books, an 8,000 square foot
space of new and remainder books. The Bookmanager support staff all started out as book-
slingers in the store, and we continue to work very closely with the bookstore staff to develop
new features and test them hands-on, in a live environment. As such, we are very much in
tune with the latest industry changes and challenges because bookselling is literally a part of
our every day business.
Like many of our fellow booksellers, Bookmanager is family owned and operated. Michael Neill,
our president and founder, works alongside his son, and a great team of programmers, tech-
nical support and design wizards. Downstairs, the iconic bookstore is managed by Michael’s
daughter and wife. Michael himself is a second generation bookseller; saying it runs in the
family is an understatement, and our commitment to the longevity of the book industry has
become a family legacy.
We have had different inventory systems over the years (most recently, Square1),
but nothing has quite made our lives as easy as Bookmanager. We love the flexibility
and integration it provides, and particularly the ease of communication (email, fax,
FTP, Pubnet) for orders and customers. The staff are fantastic and made our transi-
tion to Bookmanager exceptionally smooth and easy. Their responsiveness to prob-
lems and suggestions has been unprecedented in a tech company, in our experience.
We particularly value their enthusiasm about new ideas and their willingness to inte-
grate new features into their program.
Stores who have been with us since the beginning (way back in the 80’s!) have watched us
evolve and easily accommodate the “must have” essentials of this ever-changing industry.
We’ve kept the POS visual interface “old school” for unparalleled speed and efficiency, with the
latest technology under the hood. We’re like a classic car with a brand new Tesla engine.

orders, and record problems. Electronic receiving is the bookend to electronic ordering. It will
save you countless hours and improve accuracy. It’s the cat’s meow; just ask any receiver using
Bookmanager about the hundreds of hours they save every year going electronic.
ƹƹ Backup your system and data automatically, as frequently as you like. Scheduled backups can
be stored locally on your hard drive, flash drives, over your network, or uploaded to our secure

ƹƹ Continuously learn more about Bookmanager through our weekly news + tips email and Bien-
nial Bookmanager Academy retreat held in the gorgeous Okanagan Valley.
Switching to a new POS is not a task to take lightly, and I did a ridiculous
amount of research before making the change from Basil. We were a little worried
about the DOS-y look of Bookmanager, but it’s far simpler than it initially appears,
and I haven’t regretted the switch even for a minute. The program is strong, smart
and frequently updated; the staff is epically responsive, kind and communicative
(the weekly Tips and Tricks email they send is a gem). I love seeing their conscious
approach to their own growth, and it’s deeply reassuring to know that they’re book-
sellers just like us.
If you’re already working with another system, there’s no need to worry. Using Bookmanager
doesn’t mean you have to lose all of your previous work. We have extensive experience con-
verting from other systems. With a remote connection it’s easy for us to have a look at your
data and see just how much of your current information can be transferred into Bookmanager.
No financial commitment is made until we are both confident it is the right move for you.
New stores use anywhere from a little to a lot of what we offer. Your present system is familiar
to your staff, so a changeover may seem daunting or risky. Most prefer a gradual implemen-
tation, and learn the system in small bite-sized sessions. Our support will guide you through
the best strategy to getting started.
Together, we need to be certain that a change will not disrupt or leave you without features
critical to your way of doing business. We are successful because we have been honest and
frank with our abilities.
It starts with good people.
