CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research methodologies used in the study. This
includes the research design, population and sampling techniques, research
instruments, research locale, sources of data, data gathering procedure and the
statistical treatment of data.
RESEARCH DESIGN
This research study used Descriptive Research Design to be aware on how the
local community of Buenavista, Marinduque perceives the Sexual Orientation, Gender
Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill and create an infographic material based
on their knowledge of the bill. Creswell (1994) stated in his definition of descriptive type
of research is that the descriptive method of research is to gather information about
present existing condition. The aim of descriptive research is to verify formulated
hypotheses that refer to the present situation in order to elucidate it. The researchers
will use this method in this study to easily identify the demographic profile of the
respondents, significant relationship between the demographic profile and their
knowledge on SOGIE Equality Bill.
POPULATION AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUES
The respondents of this research study are from the local community of
Buenavista, Marinduque. The total respondents of this study is 100 (one-hundred) with
different demographic profile. The researchers will use random sampling technique to
gather data from the respondents. The chosen respondents have the chance to choose
their answers that this research study needs.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
In order to know the “Knowledge of locals from Buenavista, Marinduque
Towards Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Bill: Basis
for an Infographic Material”, the researchers will use survey-questionnaire as their
research instrument to gather the needed data. After the respondents have answered
these questionnaires, the researchers will analyze and interpret the data they had
gathered.
RESEARCH LOCALE
This research study will be conducted at the local community of Buenavista,
Marinduque.
SOURCE OF DATA
The sources of data of this research study are the locals of Buenavista,
Marinduque. With the help of survey-questionnaires as a research instrument, the
researchers will be able to gather the needed and reliable data that this research study
needs.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES

In data gathering procedures, the researchers will get the list of the total
population of the registered locals living in Buenavista, Marinduque and through the use
of Random Sampling, the researchers will only take a total of 100 respondents from the
total population. The researchers will make the survey-questionnaires that will be used
for gathering data that are needed in this study. After formulating the survey-
questionnaires, the researchers will make a letter of request and will give it to the
Municipal Mayor to be able to have the permission on conducting the survey in the
chosen respondents. The survey-questionnaires will be given to each of the
respondents for them to answer it. When the respondents have answered the
questionnaires, the researchers will analyze and interpret the gathered data to obtain
more reliable results.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT
The researchers needed to get the weighted mean to analyze the data gathered,
that’s why the researchers will use the given formula;

P=x/N (100)

Where;
P = Weighted Mean X= number of respondents
N = population
