CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODS AND PROCEDURES

RESEARCH DESIGN
The Researchers applied the descriptive method using the quantitative
approach in obtaining information. A survey will be used to gather concrete
evidence to formulate answers needed for the research.
Earl R. B., (2010) defined Quantitative methods as emphasizing objective
analysis, theoretic, or mathematical analysis of data gathered via poll results,
surveys, and assessments, or by attempting to manipulate pre-existing statistical
information with computational methods. Quantitative research deals with
accumulating numerical data to explain it across populations or attempting to
explain a particular topic. The goal of descriptive research is to explain an
occurrence and its features.  The said study is more interested with what actually
occurred instead of how or why it occurred. As a result, monitoring and
questionnaires tools are frequently used to collect information. (Gall, Gall and
Borg 2007).

SUBJECT OF THE STUDY

In this Quantitative research, the selected respondents will be the students
from Batangas State University ARASOF-Nasugbu. The subject of the study will
be composed of one hundred eight (108) respondents from Bachelor of Secondary
and Elementary Education 4th years.

DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT

The instrument that will be used in this study is a survey questionnaire through the
use of google forms. The researchers create a checklist type of questionnaire to
gather the data needed. The content of the questionnaire was drawn out based on
the researchers’ questions, readings, previous literature, and studies that are
relevant to the present study. In the preparations for the instruments, researchers
considered flexibility and accessibility, wherein respondents were able to answer
the easy-to-access questionnaire.
Closed-ended questions were provided which gives the respondents predefined
choices of answers to choose from. The fixed number of answer options is perfect
for getting quantitative and measurable data. It won’t be a time-consuming survey
form, which helps the researchers in having a better response rate from the target
respondents. There won’t be any irrelevant answers or responses that are not
aligned to the topic or issue. In addition, the instrument will be validated by a few
consultants and professors.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The source of information for this study was Simple Random Sampling. Wherein
each member of the 4th year Secondary and Elementary Education students has an
equal probability of getting chosen. To determine the number of sample sizes in
this study, the researchers will use the Raosoft Calculator. The first step in
gathering data is to get approval from the class instructor and other faculty
members, through a request letter. Next is distributing the survey questionnaire to
the intended respondents of the study. The researcher will use the allotted time for
vacant, to make sure that the respondents have enough time to answer every
question. After data gathering, the last step will be tallying the scores and applying
the statistical treatment of the data.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

The response to the questionnaire by Batangas State University ARASOF-
Nasugbu students will be statistically analyzed with the data requirements of the
study. After receiving the complete questionnaires, the researcher will record the
participants' demographic profile information and their responses to numerous
questions. The data was then transformed into tables and graphs for statistical
analysis and interpretation. The researcher will use the percentage Frequency
Distribution to determine the findings in response to numerous questions.
For the demographic profile of the respondents, frequency and percentage
distribution will be used to determine the response of the students for data on
profile (sex, program, and year level).
Formula:
%=fN 脳 100
Where: % = percent
f = frequency
N = a total number of respondents
