PROTOTYPE
1. Ask: Why our country does not experience snow? How can we find the
position of a place on Earth?
2. To diagnose learners’ level of understanding on the topic, shows
illustrations let the students identify it and each function.
Used differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to
address learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences.
C. EXPLORE (Exploration)
1. Teacher shows an illustration of the globe but with lines only which are
parallel to the equator.
2. Let the students understand that the equator is at latitude 0⁰. At the North
Pole, latitude is at 90⁰N. At the South pole, latitude is at 90⁰S while pointing
it on the globe.
D. EXPLAIN
1. Teacher calls a student and asks him/her to point out the following:
15⁰N 2. 60⁰N 3. 30⁰S 4. 45⁰S
2. Teacher shows an illustration of a globe but with lines which runs from
North to South
3. Tell the students that the longitude starts at the Prime Meridian which is
0⁰. To the right of the Prime Meridian, the longitude is written as 15⁰E and
so on. To the left of the Prime Meridian, the longitude is written as 15⁰W
and so on.
E. ELABORATE
1. Teacher asks the students to look for longitude 180⁰. What does it
represents.
2. Teacher discusses the five lines of latitude and where it can be found using
latitudes and longitudes.
3. Teacher relates the five lines of latitudes with the climate on the places
that lies on it.
4. To further understand the lesson, let the students try to find the place
given the coordinates and another example wherein the country is given and
their task is to find the coordinates. Use software “The Hat” to call the
students that will participate.
5. Teacher conducts a sort of competition among the students. She calls out a
pair of latitude and longitude, and the groups will look for the nearest city.
Use again the software “the Hat” to call the students that will participate.
Managed classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in groups,
in meaningful exploration, discovery and hands-on activities within a range
of physical learning environments.
