Chapter 17
Politics and Government

Politics is the craft of the government, which involves the use of power within
society via the formulation and implementation of collective choices. The political setting
of global marketing is the collection of government agencies, political parties, and
organizations that represent the people of the world's nations. Political leaders frequently
make decisions that affect labor regulations, education, transportation, and taxes, all of
which have an impact on business. Navigating the political issues of different countries is
difficult, so before expanding your firm, make sure it's ready for globalization.
Government policy can influence rates of interest, a spike in which raises the cost of
financing in the business community. Higher interest rates also result in lower consumer
spending. As firms expand production, lower rate of interest attract investment.

The political environment in international business is a collection of political

elements and government activity in a foreign market that can either help or impede a
company's capacity to conduct business in that country. Public relations (PR) is the
process of managing and disseminating information to the public from an individual or
organization (such as a business, government agency, or non-profit organization) in order
to impact their perception.
