DIOSDADO “DADO” BANATAO

Diosdado Banatao is a Filipino entrepreneur,
inventor, and engineer who is best known for his
contributions to the development of the personal computer.
He was born on May 23, 1946, in Cagayan, Philippines.

Banatao graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology with

a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1967. After graduation,
he worked for various tech companies before eventually
becoming an entrepreneur himself. In 1972, he founded
Mostron, a company that developed a memory board for the
Intel 8080 microprocessor.

In 1978, Banatao co-founded another company, called Compaq, which developed the first
IBM-compatible personal computer. He also developed the first single-chip graphical user
interface accelerator, which made it possible for computers to display graphics and images more
quickly.

Banatao went on to found several other companies, including S3 Graphics and Philweb
