TPE Observation

I observed case 596 Determining Differences and Similarities in Liquids Using Attributes

through the lens of TPE 1. This teacher instructs a multi-aged class and typically has the

students for only weeks or months. She must get to know them quickly to support their learning

in class and help them when it is needed. She can be seen helping students on an individual level

throughout the video. She mostly has to help the younger students remember their jobs in their

experiment and tell them what to do next when they forget. She does a good job applying the

experiment to real life learning by telling the students to come up with a hypothesis regarding the

experiments. She also helps them think critically by asking them to work together to solve the

mystery of another group’s secret rule.
