BAROQUE ARCHITECTURE (RP:100)

A special kind of irregular, peculiar, and moving pearl gave rise to baroque. It
pertains to both the artwork and its architectural style, and it was significantly distinct
from the styles of the earlier eras. However, as I watched more of the movie, I also
realized that it was Catholic propaganda intended to make art and displays
interactive for Catholics so they could more clearly sense the presence of Christ
through works of art like paintings and statues.

The Baroque period spans the middle of the 16th century to the mid 17th century
and is characterized primarily by paintings, sculptures, and even some church and
palace building. Following a crisis known as the Protestant Reformation, in which
Protestants separated from Catholics, the Roman Catholic Church entered a period
of transition during which baroque architecture emerged. In response, the Catholic
Church undertook the Counter-Reformation, a set of reforms that included a display
of wealth and authority. The Jesuits, a brand-new Catholic religious order, were
established at this time. They were among the first to be connected with Italian
Baroque architecture through their cathedrals. As they did, the Baroque style
expanded over the globe. Eventually, baroque architecture was found all over
Europe and even in South America.

Catholics disregarded the views of the protestants because they held a grandiose
belief that their religion was the only one that was true. The Catholics typically
sought and pursued absolute perfection in order to truly apply it to the chapel's
structure, which is actually quite crucial. Much like the experience of the presence of
life in art, they normally wanted that to largely occur to their cathedrals and their
chapels.

The mood and emotion of the individuals entering the structure were fundamental to
the baroque architectural style. It wished for everyone who entered to be moved by
how beautifully and realistically it was built. Its immediate expression of this passion
for art and its applications comes from its use of imagery, colour, and stairs. Baroque
is largely important since it is about the specifics, the emotions, and the sense of art.
In a subtle way, whether they be sculptures, paintings, or architecture. The
authenticity of each piece must be fully appreciated and felt.

Later on in the video, the speaker generally discussed famous painters and
architects, such as Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, who
was referenced quite frequently, or so they assumed. He spoke about Bernini's

what he called "pleasure" due to the intensity of the emotion and reality of the
structure. Additionally, St. Peter's Basilica located in the Vatican was essentially
described in the film, detailing its bronze characteristic and how it is still magnificent
and distinctive, which is normally rather noteworthy. The fact that St. Peter's is the
biggest church in the world used as a way to highlight the significance of the Roman
Catholic faith in response to protestants.

One of the architects was identified in the video presentation was Carlo Maderno
and Bernini a one-off architect who only worked with monochromatic with his work.
While Bernini was a sculptural and artistic innovator. The first person to actually use
baroque architecture was Maderno. His achievements include the front of Saint
Peter's Church in Vatican City, which was constructed between the 16th and 17th
century under the direction of many architects. Saint Peter's contains a blend of
Renaissance and Baroque components, with one of the latter appearing on the front.

Information that was absent from our group presentation from earlier today was
provided by the video presentation. Our group presentation barely touched the tip of
the iceberg on what there is to learn about baroque architecture; it only offered the
essential information that is easily accessible online. I've discovered that baroque
architecture is more than just beautiful; it has a rich history and a passionate
following.
