while having a walk or play.

space.

Who is the person?

The name of the person is Elon Musk. He owns Space X, an organization engaged in space research.

What lesson did you learn?

Sample Answer 1

Introduction

There is no denying this conviction that constant learning is a significant aspect of our lives. We learn from our
experiences, whether they are good or bad ones.

In the past, I learned a lesson that has helped me lead my life toward an impressive growth trajectory.

What was it?

The lesson was about consistency. We cannot get success in life by working on an irregular basis. Moreover, it
is a fact that efforts done without a plan usually go to waste.

What exactly happened?

Two years back, I was overweight and tried many options to get in shape. However, to my dismay, I didn’t get
results.

Seeing my plight, my father came to my rescue, and he devised a timetable for taking meals and physical
exercise.

Although I was apprehensive regarding the success of following the timetable, I persisted with it.

To my surprise, within two months, I started getting results. The extra fat on my stomach melted, and I started
feeling energetic.

Following the timetable with determination, dedication and discipline brought a paradigm shift in my life, and I
became a fit person.

What lesson did you learn?

I learned that to succeed in life; we must make consistent efforts. We can not become successful by doing
things as per our wishes.

When we become consistent, our brain picks the patterns and allows us to do our tasks tremendously easily.

On the other hand, we lose momentum when we are not regular in the activities we do.

Hence, following a timetable to strictly achieve our goals is imperative.

Being a novice in music, it was a challenging task for me. Last year, due to the corona pandemic, our nation
was on lockdown. Due to that, I stayed at home for six months and decided to effectively use the leisure time I
had by learning guitar.

I watched a boatload of videos on YouTube regarding how to play the guitar. That provided me with basic
knowledge.

Afterward, I joined an online course where the trainer left no stone unturned to teach me. He told me to practice
with determination, dedication and discipline.

Under his aegis, I became an expert at playing the guitar.

And why is it your favorite?

It is my favourite because my stress goes for a toss whenever I play it. Moreover, when I go to any celebration,
like a birthday party or wedding celebration, I play it to earn accolades from the audience.

Describe a time when you had to spend a night without electricity

When and where was it?

What did you do?
How did you feel about it?

Sample Answer 1

Introduction

There is no denying this conviction that electricity is an integral part of our lives. We thrive primarily on it to
perform our major and minor tasks adroitly.

Hence, a seamless power supply is the need of the hour in this contemporary epoch. However, on a few
occasions, we encounter issues regarding its availability. Recently, I had an instance where I had to spend a
night without electricity.

When and where was it?

It was one month back, I was in my native place. The local power station experienced a big fault and damaged
many transformers. Due to that, electricity was not available for 24 hours.

What did you do?

The next day I had an online exam. Due to that, I had to study the whole night without electricity. To my
dismay, the inverter’s battery didn’t last long. Fortunately, I had an emergency light, and I used that to study.

Another issue was the mosquitoes: due to the non-functioning of the repellent machine, they came in huge
numbers. To get rid, I placed some cloves in a half-cut lemon. After that, I had a smooth night, the heat was not
a problem due to cross-ventilation because the accommodation was in a hinterland.

How did you feel about it?

Initially, I was upset, but later on, I enjoyed that new experience. With determination, dedication and discipline, I
studied in challenging circumstances and passed my test with flying colours.
Moreover, I realised that we must not remain dependent on technology to handle our conflicts adroitly.

Follow up Questions
Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3
related to the cue card “Describe a time when you had to spend a night without electricity”.

1. What is the situation of the power supply in your hometown?

The power supply in my hometown is erratic. Due to rampant urbanization, the number of connections has
grown manifold, and the electricity demand has grown substantially. This raised demand usually leads to load
shedding and frequent power cuts.

2. What is the most viable solution to provide seamless electricity?

The most feasible solution to provide seamless electricity is to focus on alternative sources of energy such as
wind, solar and tidal energy. In short, we must pay excessive attention to electricity production through
renewable energy sources.

people love to receive them.

One of my bosom friends, Andrew, recently surprised me by gifting me a flower.

Andrew and I studied together in college, and for some reason, we stopped talking. However, I always missed
him on special occasions such as festivals and birthday parties.

We used to do umpteen activities together, such as studying and playing together, and three years with him
was a gala time for both of us.

being an introverted person, he didn’t create any profile on social media platforms.

lasted for many days.

The quality time spent with Andrew on my birthday will always remain etched in my memories. And after that
day, I preferred a bunch of peonies because they gave a lively feeling instead of giving other gifts to my near

Describe a time when you had a bad experience with your teacher

You should say:

When it was?
What type of meeting it was?

Sample Answer 1

Introduction

There is no denying the fact that teachers play a pivotal role in our lives. They are the ones who provide us
with unabated support to lead our lives towards an impressive growth trajectory.

Being an obedient student, I have had good experiences with my teachers. However, I had a bad experience
with my educator on one occasion.

Who is she? and When was it?

Two years back, there was a lockdown in my nation due to the corona pandemic and being a student, I stayed
at home for six months.

During that time, I decided to enhance my communication skills by joining an online class, and after
researching the internet, I finalised one teacher. The educator had a good presence on social media, with more
than 10,000 followers.

As per the terms and conditions of the teacher, I made the full payment in advance. Furthermore, I told her
categorically that I needed daily speaking practice to hone my skills, and she promised me a one-hour session
daily where she would conduct group discussions.

However, the teacher didn’t fulfil her promise. Rather than focusing on speaking practice, her central focus was
on teaching grammar. As I was unhappy with her teaching style, I complained, but she didn’t heed my request.

I told her to refund the money charged, but she told me bluntly that she would not return the fees. After that, I
wrote a lousy review of her services on various social media platforms, and this initiative worked like a charm
for me, and she called me to apologise. After that, she refunded the payment without any deductions.
