DESIGNING PERFORMANCE TASK ASSESSMENT

INSTRUCTION

Step 1. Get or secure a book that is used by the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High
School (SHS) students, based on your specialization. Choose only one Grade level for this
requirement, then follow the assignment below:

 Group 1 Grade 07
 Group 2 Grade 08
 Group 3 Grade 09
 Group 4 Grade 10
 Group 5 Grade 11

Step 2. Each student in the group chooses a topic of their interest. Then write lecture notes
about your chosen topic and create task-based activities about it. Divide your lecture notes
into five areas or sub-topics, then from each sub-topic formulate task-based learning
activities.

 Lecture Note 1 Matching Type

 Lecture Note 2 Fill in the space
 Lecture Note 3 Answering Questions
 Lecture Note 4 True or False
 Lecture Note 5 Reflection or Essay

N.B. You can devise your task-based learning activities aside from the examples given. Make
sure that your activities have a direction/instruction / or objectives. Provide an answer key for
each activity at the end of the paper.

Step 3. From the topic that you have chosen design a performance task assessment following
the GRASPS model (Wiggins and McTighe, 2004).

Step 4. Each part of the model will be explained in detail. The 'standards and criteria for
success' pertains to the 'rubrics' to be used in your performance task assessment. In this case,
create or make two rubrics as your criteria for judging the performance of the students. You
are requested to make 'holistic rubrics' and ‘analytical rubrics’.

Step 5. Once the design performance task is ready, ask the help of some experts in this area
to validate your work. Ask at least 5 teachers or experts to validate your design performance
task. Then incorporate all the suggestions and comments by the expert.

Step 6. Ask five groups of Junior High School (JHS) or Senior High School (SHS)
depending on the level you have chosen to perform the task that you have designed. Have
pictures or documents as proof of your work.

Step 7. Finalized your paper and submit it to your teacher on MAY 31, 2023 until 5 PM.

N.B. Attached are the comments and suggestions of the validators (the original handwriting
of the expert). Create your content validation instrument.

DO REMEMBER the following items in designing your Performance Task Assessment.

Further consideration of them will yield a better result.

1. The performance task assessment should be based on a real-life situation. Avoid essay
writing, paragraph writing, or speaking performance.

2. Think of a performance-based assessment that will build a strong foundation about

technology, environmental issues, community issues, and problems.

3. Use A4 size paper, 12 font size, Times New Roman, single space.
