1.Which among the Filipino traditions still exist at present?
- Festival is one of the ancient Filipino traditions that still exist at present. Every year, in Cebu, they
celebrate Sto. Nino Sinulog festival in the month of January. Sinulog in Cebu symbolize the introduction
of the Christian faith to the Filipino people or the celebration of the Filipino culture. These festivals are
performed by a group of dancers using bamboos, and other props.
2. What made some historians believed that it was in Masao, Butuan and not in Limasawa, Leyte where
the first recorded Christian mass took place?
- It is well known by many historians that the first mass was held in Limasawa, Leyte, for the
documentation Antonio Pigafitta he called the place Mazaua. However, until at least 19 th century, the
widespread idea was that the first mass was held or performed in Butuan. One of the evidence is that the
expedition traveled 20 to 25 nautical leagues or 111 km to 139 km. Historian Gregorio Zaide stated that
the Philippine Government should correct their mistake and accept that the first mass was held or
celebrated in Masao, Butuan.
4. What were the cultural changes brought about by the Americans to the Filipinos?
- There are many cultural changes brought by Americans to the Filipinos such as the clothing, there are
product the came from the America and was brought here in the Philippines. Another is the religious
freedom, because of this new found religious freedom there are now different churches besides
Catholicism. There are some restaurants become popular in the Philippines such as the newly opened
KFC here in Dipolog City, McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts. These restaurants are owned by Americans.
