Waukesha for Learning Philosophy: “Students learn best through a system of clear learning targets, quality assessments, timely and developmental feedback,
and the opportunity to respond to that feedback so student grades accurately represent what students know and are able to do.”
Course Name: Strength Through Fitness 1
Course Learning Targets: 1. Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns
2. Applies knowledge, concepts, principles, and strategies.
3. Engages regularly in health-enhancing physical activities.
4. Exhibits responsible personal and social engagement.
Calculated Gradebook - Standards-Based approach will calculate an average grade for each learning target and then composite all targets to determine an
overall course grade which can serve as a guide, but final course grade will be declared/posted using professional judgment and based on the body of evidence
the students have provided.
Failure of any one learning target will result in failure of the class and credit will not be issued.
Gradebooks will be updated by the end of every 5th week and at the completion of each semester.
Formative/Summative:
Formative Assessments: 0%
Formative Assessments include written reflections, observation using rubric criteria, self evaluations, and question and answer sessions.
Any student involved in a school co-curricular activity, who does not dress for daily participation, will not be allowed to practice or compete with their sport after
school hours on that day.
Required Coursework:
At least 2 summative assessments will be given within each learning target. All learning targets must receive a D or better in order to pass the course.
Deadlines will be explained for each assignment and the expectation is that all work be completed by that date. Any extensions
for deadlines need to be discussed prior to the due date of that assignment and agreed upon by both student and teacher.
