Matexil® DA-DLP

Dispersing and levelling agent for disperse dyeing

Summary
Matexil® DA-DLP is a combined dispersing and levelling agent designed for the application of disperse dyes to
polyester fibres, especially in short cycle dyeing.

Advantages
 Combined dispersing and levelling agent stable to high temperature, thus ensuring effective dispersing
power in the cooling dye bath
- To avoid dye spots on yarn or fabric
- Less surface deposition of unexhausted dye and therefore improved fastness
- dispersing oligomers and preventing deposits on machines and goods
 Helps compensate for lack of compatibility of dyes in mixtures used because of economy or particular
fastness properties.
 Improved 'Right-First-Time' dyeing and increased productivity.
 Enables shorter cycle times to be used and increased efficiency.
 Shade consistency
- Within any one batch of yarn or fabric
- From batch to batch and avoiding problems of body panels not matching.

Features
 No compromise in dispersing properties - Matexil® DA-DLP has high temperature stable dispersing powers
similar to the market-leading Matexil® DA-N.
 Two functions in a single product
 Improves migration of even the most difficult, high molecular size, disperse dyestuffs.
 No restraining action on exhaustion of disperse dyes, full yields are obtained in deep shades.
 Anionic chemical nature ensures compatibility with all commonly used polyester dyeing auxiliaries.
 No cloud point effect.
 No carrier content, no formaldehyde content, no anti-foam content.
 Low viscosity suitable for liquid dispensing.

Storage
Similar to most common surfactants, Matexil® DA-DLP has a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored under
conditions of good housekeeping.

Physical Properties
Type Anionic
Composition Proprietary anionic compound
Appearance Light brown liquid
Solubility Readily soluble in water, pre-dilute with 4-5 times the volume of
water.
Compatibility Stable to hard water and all acids and bases used in dyeing
Compatible with all other dyeing agents used during disperse dyeing.

Application
Matexil® DA-DLP used as dispersing and levelling agent in dyeing polyester

Matexil® DA-DLP is suitable for use on all types of high temperature dyeing machinery. After scouring the goods
where necessary, the dye bath is set with fresh water and temperature raised to 60ºC.

Meanwhile, Matexil® DA-DLP is pre-diluted by adding the product to 4-5 times its own volume of warm water.

Matexil® DA-DLP 0.5 to 1.0 g/l

Lanapex HTS (sequestering agent) 0.5 g/l
Acetic acid or Acid buffer Adjust pH to 4.5 to 5.5
Disperse dye x% owf

Add pre-diluted Matexil® DA-DLP to the bath together with other chemicals required (sequestering agent,
acid/acid buffer) and circulate. Adjust to pH 4.5 to 5.5.

Add well-dispersed dyestuff, preferably through a sieve or filter.

Raise temperature from 60ºC to maximum dyeing temperature (130-135 o C) at desired temperature gradient.
Rapid rates of rise of 2 to 4ºC per minute are possible. Run 30 to 60 minutes. Cool to temperature at which the
liquor can be safely drained without causing creasing, then rinse or back-scour/reduction clear as necessary.

Matexil® DA-DLP used as stripping agent or re-levelling of faulty dyeing

Matexil® DA-DLP can be used to correct unlevel dyeing or to reduce the depth of dyeing dyed too heavily.
Treat for 30 to 60 minutes with:
Matexil® DA-DLP 2 to 5 g/l
At maximum dyeing temperature, this treatment will hold the removed dyes in the bath. If shading corrections are
necessary, these should be carried out after replacing all or most of the bath. Otherwise, such high
concentrations of Matexil® DA-DLP will not permit good exhaustion.

Stripping or re-levelling treatments should be followed by thorough rinsing and reduction clearing to ensure
maximum fastness.

N.B. Reduction Clearing Treatment

Matexil ® DN-VL 200 1 g/l
NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide, solid) 2 g/l
Hydrose (Sodium Hydrosulphite) 2 g/l

Treat the goods for 15 to 20 minutes at 70 to 80oC to achieve optimum fastness and clarity of shade.
