The origin of the Indonesian language can be known based on inscriptions found in several regions of
the archipelago. Three of them are inscriptions found at Kedukan Bukit Palembang which date to 683
AD, the Talang Tuwo inscription in Palembang which dates to 684 AD, and the Kota Kapur
inscription in West Bangka which dates to 686 AD. Indonesian as the national language and the
national language in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has a very dominant function in all
aspects of social life. Indonesian must be learned, developed, and optimized in its use and function.
Should Indonesia make Indonesian as the official national language? Yes
Indonesian is the official national language of Indonesia, because Indonesian is a symbol of national
pride, a symbol of national identity, a means of unifying ethnic groups and a means of regional
intercultural communication.
