Title of Activity: World Handwashing Day
Date: October 15, 2022
Venue: SUBIC CENTRAL SCHOOL
Objectives: a. To conduct a short symposium on the importance
of handwashing to fight COVID-19.
b. To demonstrate proper handwashing.
Rationale: In 2016, the Department of Education issued DepEd Order No. 10,
s.2016 “Policy and Guidelines on the Comprehensive Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program. This is to
improve access to adequate water supply, functional toilets and
effective hygiene promotion. This is recognition of the importance of
WASH in schools in achieving the learning outcomes for our
children. The goal is to ensure a safe and conductive learning
environment in school and enable children to be in best condition to
participate and learn in school.
WASH in Schools is a first step towards ensuring a healthy physical
learning environment. Schools with quality WASH programmes can
lessen the spread of disease. Ensure every child goes to school with
WASH – water, sanitation and hygiene education. Wash in school
focuses on the standards for the promotion of a clean and safe school
environment and correct hygiene and sanitation practices among
learners.
“Healthy isn’t a goal. It’s a way of living.”
It is very important to learn how to properly take care of your body
while you are young. This way, you will be able to keep yourself
clean and healthy.

Narrative: In reference to DepEd Order No. 10 s.2016 SUBIC CENTRAL
SCHOOL joined the celebration of the Global Handwashing Day
2022.
The school has conducted a short symposium spearheaded by the
WiNS Coordinator. The talk focused on the important role of
handwashing in these times of pandemic brought about by COVID-
19. It served as a reminder that handwashing with soap and water is
one of the best steps, we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading
germs to others. The symposium was followed shortly by the
demonstration of proper handwashing of students while singing
“Happy Birthday Song”. The activity ended at 3:00 pm in the
afternoon.
