In adherence to OUOPS No. 2023-03 re:

2023 Global Handwashing Day, dated
September 27, 2023, the Department of
Education, through the BLSS-SHD, in
partnership with the United Nations
Children's Fund (UNICEF), shall spearhead
this year's celebration of the Global
Handwashing Day with the Theme: "𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧
𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡." This global
advocacy is celebrated annually every 15th
day of October and is dedicated to increased
awareness and understanding of the
importance of handwashing with soap as an
effective and affordable way to prevent
diseases and save lives. Relative to this, this
Office, through the Schools Governance and
Operations Division - School Health Section
(SHS) hereby announces the observance of
this year's Global Handwashing Day.

This activity aims to highlight the

importance of multisectoral collaboration in
promoting a culture of hygiene and to
emphasize hand hygiene as a critical public
health measure to ensure safe schools and

 To Disseminate the proper way of
Handwashing;
 To conduct Handwashing with soap
 Preparation of the venue
 The activity was started by the
conduct of Flag Ceremony followed
by the formal program which is the
stating of purpose given by our school
head, Ma'am Maribel G.
CABANGUNAY for the conduct of
Global Handwashing. The
dissemination on the real essence of
handwashing with soap in our daily
lives by the SBM Coordinator Ms.
Mary Joy V. ABANTAO and right after
is the conduct of on-site Handwashing
with Soap Guided By the Teachers.
 The School-Based Global
Handwashing Day Celebration was
managed by the SBM WINS
coordinator and teachers of Gusa
Elementary School.
All needed requirements were taken through
the school resources.

ended fruitfully in terms of the
importance of Handwashing with
soap.
 The teachers and pupils acquired
information about the real essence of
Handwashing with soap in our day to
day living especially during the
conduct of proper Handwashing with
the guidance of the SBM WINS
coordinator.
 Some learners are not prepared for the
activity
 Through the active participation of
both teachers and learners they were
able to come up with the conduct of
Classroom Hand-washing before and
after Recess Time.
