GLOBAL HANDWASHING
DAY
S.Y. 2022-2023

Global Handwashing Day is a way to support a global and local culture of

handwashing with soap, shine a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each
country and raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soap.
Since 2008, Global Handwashing Day has been celebrated annually on October
15 worldwide. The Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with
Soap founded Global Handwashing Day encourages school children, teachers
and families to get involved.
To promote handwashing with soap, the Department of Education
implemented the 2022 Global Handwashing Day Celebration last October 14,
2022 with the theme: “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene”. This year as we are
covering from the onslaught of the Coronavirus, handwashing is the best
way to stop spreading the COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, as we are
now in the implementation of the face to face approach of teaching. For
handwashing to be effective it must be practiced consistently at key times,
such as after using the toilet or before contact with food. While habits must be
developed over time, this theme emphasizes the importance of handwashing as
a ritual behavior for long-term sustainability.
Since, the students were allowed to go to school; they were taught the
concepts on proper hand washing and its benefits to their. They conducted a
short orientation to inform the students the importance of hand washing and
demonstrated/showed video the eight steps of proper handwashing.
To highlight the Global Handwashing Day celebration, all students,
teachers, and non-teaching staff practice the proper hand washing technique.
Cadawinonan Elementary School successfully participated in Global
Handwashing day.
