WHAT IS A HAZARD?
• An activity, situation or condition that has the potential to cause
harm, loss or damage or a combination of these
HOW DO I IDENTIFY A HAZARD?
• Use your senses – see, hear, smell, feel or taste
• Perform a risk assessment, refer to procedures and guidelines
• Hold and participate in toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSAs)
and 'last-minute' risk assessments
• Discuss with line management, supervisors, safety reps/
advisers and work colleagues
