1) What piece of work did you select for the exhibition and why?

What does it bring to your audience/portfolio/field?
I selected a gif for the exhibition as I wanted to provoke a level of discomfort from my audience as
instead of having an image as my result, I wanted a moving piece where the facial expression would
enhance to make it seem painful when in reality it’s not, in hope of a different reaction.

2) How did research inform how you prepared the work?

Are there conventions for work of this type? Did you want to conform or
break with them?
With my work type there are typically no conventions to it as each artist I paid attention to went in a
different direction with it and made it their own which is what I aimed to do with my final piece by
incorporating different things like photoshop into it, as then I am also able to show my strengths.

3) How did your project help you to develop skills and

understanding relating to your discipline as you move from
foundation year to year 1 in your chosen program?
How might you further develop core program specific skills and
understanding as you move through the summer months?
By moving from foundation to year 1 I have learnt to give myself set tasks and a time limit so that
when it comes to being set tasks I am not cramming and rushing my work but being able to complete
it to my full ability without feeling overwhelmed. I have also become more confident in using
photoshop and producing my photography in different formats to incorporate mix media into my work
as well as learning new techniques to help me better my work. I would also say developing and going
further into my research to really help me understand my work more whilst learning about new artists I
haven’t come across yet to have a different perspective and taking inspiration from them as well as
picking up and learning new techniques, so my work doesn’t become repetitive in what I am producing
but different each time.
