Karish Offshore Gas Development
2019 – A Year of Milestones
Reflecting on 2019, we have collectively deployed the maximum effort to keep the project on track and
have been extremely successful. The learning curve on the onshore scope was challenging, but
ultimately we have managed to bring this back under control, and to date overall progress is very
satisfactory. More importantly, we have a strong and efficient team on site that will continue to deliver
the plan with an overall target completion of H2, 2020. Within Subsea we have delivered most of the
SPS scope with XTrees, Wellheads and Landing Strings and have also prepared the offshore
operations that will start in Q2 next year. I am confident that we are ready for great pre-installation
campaigns all along next year. On the FPSO side we have nearly completed the hull in China and Willy Gauttier
despite a few delays on the sail away, I strongly believe we will catch up partly during the integration Executive Project Director
phase in Singapore. The topsides have been very well executed in Admiralty yard and I am confident in
our capacity to recover some time and allow an FPSO sail away before the end of 2020.
I would finally like to underline the great collaboration between our various teams and this is one of the
biggest areas of satisfaction for me in 2019. So I simply want to thank you all for this great
performance and look forward to pursuing it in 2020.

Topsides Engineering & Procurement
Engineering progress for the topsides is now more than 96%. A completion plan has been put in
place to track and concentrate on the remaining activities. The contribution of all disciplines has
been required to thoroughly identify all remaining activities and define a way to measure
progress. Today, the completion plan has reached 70%. Three Main challenges remain; The
ICSS finalization, the “first of a kind” telescopic flare jacking system (which has been dictated by
the need to go though the Suez canal bridge) and the design and preparation for the temporary
power required during the tow and for the offshore activities until the FPSO is supplied with gas,
either from the existing pipeline or from the wells.
The ICSS system development has entered into its final phase. A team of five from the Paris
instrument team have been mobilized to Oslo for the Software FAT. A delegate from our main
subcontractor SCM and one from Kanfa have also joined the team. FAT is expected to be
finalized by end of March 2020. In order to meet the challenging construction
schedule, the ICSS cabinets, with one set of controllers will be delivered to site (as
soon as the cabinet cabling has been set in line with software requirements), to
allow the start of cabinets installation, cable pulling, wiring operations and loop
checks. The second set of controllers will be kept at Oslo to finalize the software
program. These controllers will then be delivered to site for their final installation.
The design of the telescopic flare jacking system and its associated ancillary
equipment is in progress. Close co-operation is ongoing between the structural
team, the Paris “Offshore Mobile System” department involved in the development
of the adjustable guiding system, our Jacking subcontractor ALE and the yard
construction team to ensure that the design will be fully operational and will allow a
smooth and safe jacking operation of the flare at site.
Procurement
All major equipment has been delivered to yard. Remaining items include the pedestal cranes, the HC recovery skid, the
essential diesel generator, the offloading hose, life raft, life boats and fire water pump. Delivery of these items remains in
line with the construction schedule. The major challenge remains the delivery of bulk material like valves that have been
identified at a late stage of engineering, some telecom equipment and the ICSS cabinets. Air freight is being considered on
a case by case basis to ensure that enough work is available at the yard at all times.

Karish Hull
The Karish FPSO, ‘Energean Power’ is now a floating unit following its successful undocking from the Zhoushan yard, China.
This major and critical operation was very well executed by the Cosco team and all other parties. The operation started during
the night with some pre-ballasting operations, followed by the flooding of the dock. Early morning, the floating door was
opened and the hull was handed over to two tugs which gently pulled her from the dock. With wind gusts above 20 knots, five
harbour tugs were mobilized to safely control Energean Power during her first voyage to the berth.
She is now moored in berth five where construction activities continue. Mooring was heavily discussed with Cosco and the
Marine Warranty Surveyor as the risk of typhoon in this part of the world extends beyond the summer period. The yard has
experienced two typhoons since undocking, in particular Typhoon MITAG, whose trajectory was only a few miles away
from the Zhoushan Island. Fortunately, no damaged was reported on the hull or mooring lines.
Whilst the focus has been on structure for the undocking of the hull, major construction activities have to be completed, in
particular on the hull main deck and in the machinery room. About 13,000 piping spools will be installed in all areas of the
FPSO. This is a major challenge for which Cosco has reinforced its construction staff with a total of 1,400 workers on the
job before sail away. In parallel, all the main equipment in the hull is under installation.

Living Quarters
After a successful Blasting and Painting campaign in September conducted with drums beating, co-activity and sequence
management is being a core feature of this second phase with EICT, HVAC and piping activities now reaching their peak.
SCM still need to give a strong push to fill the gap and lead successfully the final sprint to deliver LQ before the hull’s arrival,
whilst maintaining high quality and HSE standards.
Topsides Fabrication
After the successful stacking campaign of the summer, the second half of 2019 was all about piping erection, hydrotest
and ramp-up for instrumentation installation. With a peak of manpower of more than 2000 workers, SCM have been able to
achieve up to 3% weekly progress at peak. With more than 90% hydrotest performed, the team are focusing now in
releasing lines for instrumentation, heat tracing and insulation works. The TechnipFMC team is fully mobilized to support
SCM 7 days a week to ensure full completion of the modules early 2020 and have them ready for integration. SCM has
started fabrication of the flare and recently started erection of the flare fixed part. This complicated structure will be a
significant challenge to ensure timely and effective fabrication.
The last major pieces of equipment (Metering Packages) have been delivered and installed on top of M12. With the
ongoing completion of the carryover works of the FGC mechanical activities within topsides are close to the end and will
allow supervision team to focus on on-deck equipment and preparation of integration works. With 80% progress reached
mid-November, peak of construction is passed, and all construction resources are focuses in the completion and transfer
of sub-system to PCC team. With the first MC certificate submitted to CPY for the instrument air distribution in M6, an
important milestone has been achieved and the beginning of a new phase of the project with beginning of commissioning
at quay.

E-House - Outstanding Performance Achieved
Not only has the electrical house been delivered successfully without LTI – with over 660,000 man hours spent – but the
overall construction activities including work sequencing & work quality have been executed in a very top class manner. This
is a great success, led by Philippe Trottereau together with Siemens. Work will be concluded soon with the e-house delivery
to Singapore.
All main equipment and panels (Transformers, LV/MV Switchgears, VSD/VFD and UPS) have been installed. Currently, ICSS
panels also have been delivered and installed, which has enabled the E&I team to continue the activity of cable connections.
Cable ladders/trays are completely installed and 54 km of cable has been pulled.

Subsea
Subsea& Onshore
As the majority of our procurement and manufacturing scopes near completion, we approach the year end
having achieved 50% completion for the Subsea scope and 40% for the Onshore scope. Moving into 2020,
our focus now turns to Offshore and Onshore site delivery. With this in mind, our primary goal is to ensure
we operate a safe system of work across all activities and sites.
Key subsea highlights in 2019 have been delivery of the X-Trees and subsea controls system. The
manifold and SSIV SIT is ongoing. We have also been awarded an additional X-Tree for the Karish North 1
well and are now working with the Front End team to progress concept select and FEED for the Karish
North Development.

Fabrication on the steel catenary riser system is ongoing and we are close to completing the riser flex Senior Project
joints and Righini riser pull-in system, all of which are major milestones. 2020 kicks off with a busy Director
schedule; mobilisation of the Solitaire and Deep Blue and various other support activities.
Meanwhile, in 2019 Onshore highlights include achieving 90% completion of the onshore detailed design,
starting the staged FAT’s for the ongoing PRMS system build, the onsite civils construction is progressing
well and we have just started the HDD drilling campaign for the pipeline underground crossing of the
motorway and railway. This will all ramp up in 2020 when we take delivery of the PRMS system and
commence the assembly, along with the onshore pipeline installation including the ball valve station and
CVS scopes. Well done to everyone involved!

Gas Sales Pipeline - Installation
The Gas Sales pipeline, previously to be installed by Global 1200, shall now be
installed by the Allseas Solitaire vessel. The Gas Sales team shall work in
collaboration with Allseas Group S.A. on the project to ensure a safe and
efficient installation campaign in 2020. Following a detailed tender and
clarification process, a kick-off meeting was held between both companies on
16th October in Aberdeen in which both companies outlined their respective
teams and intentions for progressing towards the pipelay campaign in 2020.
Both companies have since been working together across many different
disciplines – with a focus on the critical path items such as welding
qualifications, 24” PLET design and installation documentation. Welding
qualification shall start in January 2020 with AUT validation and FJC PQT to
start shortly after.
The 24” PLET, originally designed for installation by G1200, has been modified
to accommodate the Allseas installation methodology. Re-design has been
focused on two key areas – the interface with the pipeline and the PLET yoke.
The interface with the pipeline shall be provided via a ASTM A694 F65 forging
with connecting split flange – both components have been placed on order with
the forging facility. The yoke capacity has been increased with stiffener plates
due to the heavier PLET and catenary loading, the previous hook arrangement
has been changed for a padeye and the yoke width has been increased also to
resist any torque introduced during PLET installation. The 24” PLET shall be
completed at the fabricator Schwartz-Hautmont in Q1 2020 and transported to Allseas Solitaire (top) and modified 24”
Limassol, Cyprus prior to installation offshore. PLET structure (bottom)

SURF: Risers Buoyancy Module and VIV Strake Manufacturing Complete
TechnipFMC awarded the manufacture of the Steel Catenary Riser Distributed Buoyancy Modules to Balmoral
Offshore Engineering and the manufacture of the Vortex Induced Vibration Strakes to Lankhorst Offshore. Balmoral
has successfully delivered 283 integral buoyancy modules for the 10” and 16” risers with an uplift of 1.36 Te each.
A new larger multi-strap has been developed for these large modules to maintain the 2 strap the installation process.
The buoyancy modules will be transported from Aberdeen to Cyprus in early 2020 to be packed on bespoke pallets
for going offshore.
Meanwhile, Lankhorst has successfully delivered a total of 5.9 km of VIV Strakes including 900m of anti-fouled
strakes. This equates to just under 13,000 Strake sections, each of which are a new design that allows a much
greater packing factor saving 24 hrs for mobilising the strakes to the vessel. The Strakes are currently in transit from
the Netherlands to the Mobile Spoolbase where they will be mobilised onto the Deep Blue.
Following shore pull operations, a sheet pile cofferdam will be installed then excavated between the 56” casing pipe and the
Coastal Valve Station (CVS) to allow for cutback of the 56” casing pipe and 30” GSP to achieve the necessary 2.0m depth of
cover in line with environmental regulations. Once the pipeline is cut back, a spool section consisting of a 3.1° 5D bend and
36m of DNV pipeline will be prepared and welded to the 30” GSP to extend the pipeline to a suitable position for tie-in to the
onshore pipeline.
Onshore
Onshore Update
Following on from the previous productive quarter, Onshore execution is well underway with Pressure Reduction
Metering Station (PRMS) supply and Israel onsite construction scopes. There has been significant PRMS build
progress this quarter and the commencement of the PRMS FAT’s now started, Dor Valve Station (DVS) civil
works, pipeline Horizontal Direct Drilling (HDD) activities and tendering pipeline construction package.
PRMS
PRMS fabrication is progressing on time with the first Factory
Acceptance Tests (FAT) completed successfully on the metering
trains at Pietro Fiorentini facilities in Italy with Energean and INGL
attendance. PRMS delivery of skidded equipment and onsite
assembly works are on track for next quarter, this will be a
significant achievement by the Onshore Team, Subcontractors and
Suppliers considering the detailed design was frozen in the second
quarter 2019.
Israel – Site
The Israel Onshore Team likewise, have made significant progress
with Horizontal Direct Drilling (HDD) and Civil works. Riad
Espanioli have mobilised and have made great progress with Dor
Valve Station (DVS) civil works, The aggressive onshore schedule
requiring the station to be ready for receipt of the PRMS equipment
has required the Israel Onshore Site Team to be extremely
proactive and reactive to maintain the completion target. The Dor
Valve Station piling scope is close to finishing with 267 of 339 piles
completed with PRMS concrete slab work completion targeted for
Jan 2020 ready for erection of the shelter main structural steel
columns and beams.
PRMS Equipment
Chemo Aharon also mobilised to site, set up camps, constructed road access and work sites in preparation for
pipeline welding and HDD works. Circa 500m HDD pipe string welding and NDE has been completed with
hydrotest and field joint coating to follow, in readiness for pipe pulling early next year. Road and Railway crossing
Horizontal Direct Drilling got underway with a coconut blessing ceremony and is scheduled for completion first
quarter 2020. Pipeline construction works is still under tender with execution planned in summer 2020 connecting
HDD section to Dor and Coastal valve stations.
The next 6 months will be an exciting and rewarding time for the Onshore teams with a significant increase in
onsite activity including DVS and CVS civils works, equipment deliveries, PRMS assembly, HDD/pipeline and
valve construction works with multiple works fronts. To support site operations, the Israel Team will increase in
numbers in 2020 to support subcontractor work fronts, peaking around 100+ personnel on site/s in the summer
months.
