Maintening Adolescent Reproductive Health


 
Maintaining reproductive health is very important, especially for adolescents. According to the
World Health Organization (WHO), Adolescents are people aged 12 to 24 years. This means that the
process of introduction and knowledge of reproductive health has actually started at this time.
Lack of education on matters related to reproduction can in fact trigger unwanted things. One of
the things that often happens because of the lack of socialization and education is sexually transmitted
diseases, pregnancy at a young age, to abortions which result in the loss of teenagers' lives.
Basically, teenagers need to have knowledge about maintaining reproductive health. Having the
right knowledge about the reproductive process, as well as how to maintain their health, is expected to
be able to make teenagers more responsible. Especially regarding the reproductive process, and can
think again before doing things that can be detrimental.
Knowledge about reproductive issues is not only mandatory for young women. Because, boys also
need to know and understand how to live with healthy reproduction. In the end, wrong associations can
also have a detrimental impact on teenage boys as well. So what basic knowledge do teenagers need to
know?
• An introduction to the system, process, and function of the reproductive organs. Try to convey
information according to the age and readiness of the child. However, it is better to avoid using
certain terms that can obscure the meaning and make children not familiar with reproductive
problems.
• Disease risk. This aspect should also be introduced and conveyed to teenagers who have grown
up. By knowing the risks that may occur, adolescents will certainly be more careful and take
better care of their reproductive health.
Sexual violence and how to avoid it. Teenagers need to be introduced to their reproductive rights. In
addition, knowledge is also needed about sexual violence that may occur, what types it is, and how to
prevent it from happening.
