Second TEST - SYLLABUS -

By now your group routine should be well established and students are probably more
comfortable with sharing in the group. Keep on exploiting activities that promote interpersonal
and collaborative skills, and allow children to express ideas and opinions.

UNIT 3

Lesson 1
Learning objectives: Identify and use new words: places around town.
Make the most of the visual used to introduce the unit and do activities 1 to 4 following TB
suggestion. Try to incorporate flashcards into activities to make them more memorable. Before
doing exercise 4, you might want to consider different ways to pair students.
To exploit this song to the full, you might want to add to what is in the TB. For instance, you can try
‘Lyric Grab’ as it is a really engaging activity. You should prepare a list of words from the lyrics of
the song. You then get all the words of places mentioned in the song ‘Tower Town’, and put one
word on one slip of paper which you stick to the whiteboard. Place all the words randomly on the
whiteboard and put the students into two teams. They stand in line facing the whiteboard, you play
the song and when a student hears a word from the song, they grab it, run to the back of their line
and then the next student continues. Continue the song until it has finished. Count the words and
congratulate the winning team!

Reinforcement: Workbook page 28

Create visual aids with your students to provide them with

peripheral learning (we perceive much more in our
environment than that to which we consciously attend).

Follow TB and do exercises 1 to 3 as suggested. Please notice the Teaching

good idea to pair each new word with a gesture, as this helps students learn
new words in a foreign language.

Lesson 3
Learning objectives: Reading comprehension: scan and categorise; sounds and spelling.
Follow TB warm-up and then do activities 1 to 5 as suggested. Please notice the Teaching Star!
