Constance and the Dangerous crossing:

a May flower survival story
By Julie Gilbert

Summary
There's nothing left in England for Constance. Her mother worked
as a maid for the Martins, when she died Constance had to take her
place as the new maid. The martins were planning to move from
England to the new world, they asked Constance if she wanted to
come with them, if she did not want, they could get her a position as
the maid of another family. The agreed, anyway she had no family
there, but there was something she had, the dream of becoming a
teacher.  There was not the tiniest possibility of her to become a
teacher here, but in the new world it could be different. They
boarded the MAYFLOWER and began their journey. Almost
everyone was seasick and throwing up in their buckets. Constance
was one of the few people that wasn’t sick. After fetching for Mrs.
Martin's shawl, a sailor took it off Constance's hands, and they
started to fight, John quickly heads over to find the captain, so he
can help Constance. The sailor, named David, starts saying rude
things about Constance, so she slaps him in the face, but her
employer Mr. Martin gets angry because of her behavior. Suddenly,
the captain arrives and defends Constance. After a while, an
enormous storm comes, and the main beam broke, but Constance
finds a solution. Sometime later John fells into the deep sea, the
sailors, and Constance help to get him on the ship again, after some
trouble they managed to get him on the ship again. He was really
sick, due to the time he spent in the freezing water. But that weren't
all the bad news, her friend Damaris was also sick. Soon, her friend
John recovered from the illness, but Damaris was getting worse
every day. The number of storms they had to face increased along
with passengers sick. The captain decided to land on the other place,
even if it wasn't the one where they were supposed to land.
Everyone was mad about that decision, but reluctantly agreed. What
everyone feared happened, Damaris had died. But Constance
promised Damaris and her mother that she would create a life of her
own.

Things that happened in the book:

1. David dies.
2. John falls into the ocean.
3. Damaris dies.
4. Constance helps to solve the problem about the landing.
For me, the most interesting part was when John fell into the ocean’s
gigantic waves and Constance along with the other sailors help him
get on the boat

One thing I learnt…

I learnt that we're the owners of our future, nobody can tell you what
to do with your life. It’s all right to ask and listen to advice, but at
the end the one who makes the decisions it’s you.
