Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt

loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for

nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

“You are the light of the world. A City that is set on a hill cannot

be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but

on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let

your light so shine before men, that they may see your good

works and glorify your Father in heaven.

You are the Light of the Word

Characteristics of Light

1. Light Shines in the Darkness and the darkness cannot

overcome it. Any Light that does not shine ceases to be

light. Light is defined by shining. When light shines

 darkness disappears. No matter how thick the darkness, it

disappears in the presence of Light.

Wherever you see darkness prevailing, it means there is no

Light or the Light is not Shining Enough.

2. Light Burns: When you come into physical contact with

Light heat is transferred. John the Baptist was described as a

burning and a Shining Light. Light burns to transfer Heat

from One source to another.

3. Light Reveals things that are Lost: Light exposes things

that are hidden. Darkness covers. Light makes things

manifest. Light shows the true color of things. For as long as

there is darkness, sins are covered. Eph. 5:13. Before

darkness can be dispelled Light must shine. Let there be

Light.

4. Light increases in intensity. 1Pt. 1:19

 5. Light Attracts. Light draws Unbelievers. Light attracts

people who are looking for direction.

What are we to do as the Light of the World?

1. We are to Shine: Light is of no use unless it Shines.

Light is useless unless it helps people to see the Direction

through its activities. Light will be a waste if it does not

shine.

 God expects His to shine forth and bring direction to people to

come out of the darkness. “Let your light so shine before

men”. Men need our light and Direction. You are that Light.

God will place you and position you in a place so that Your

Light, Your Character, and Your Lifestyle can penetrate the

hearts of the people around you.

2. Light cannot be Hidden: You are a City set on a Hill. If you

are a Light you will be known wherever you are. Peter was

found out even though he thought he was hiding. Matt. 26:69-

73.

 Even if you deem the Light, you will be found out.

 Don’t deem your light. Wherever Light goes you will feel its

presence.

Luke 24:32. Light must leave a Burning Mark in the Hearts

of People. Light reveals the intents of the heart. Acts 8:17-

24.

The bitterness and evil intent in the heart of men will be

exposed by Light. If Light does not shine, then the Purpose

of that Light is defeated.

 God has made you a Lamp so you must Shine.

 Are you truly shining in your environment as Light? Are you

shining in Your Office? What about the things you are hiding in

your Life as a Young Man or Woman? Use this Camp to open

up for help.

 You Need Help! Lord! Please Help Me!

 What about the things you are hiding on your Phone? Whatever

you are doing on Your Phone and you will not be comfortable

when someone else sees it, is Darkness.

 Are your Lights shining enough to draw people to Christ?

 What are some of the things you do that deem Your Light?

Pray now and Get rid of them before they get rid of you.

What is it that you do and you don’t want anyone to see

you?

What is that call about that you can’t pick it up in the presence

of your Pastor, Parents, or friends? That is Darkness. Get rid of

 it now! It has the potential to get rid of your Place in the

Kingdom of God.

 Rev. 2:4-5.  Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have

left your first love.  Remember therefore from where you have

fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you

quickly and remove your lampstand from its place - unless you

repent.

Why does the World need Light?

1. There is darkness upon the Earth

Isaiah 60:1-3.

There is thick darkness upon the Earth now. That is why the

World needs light.

 The Glory of the Lord shall be seen upon the Children of

Light. When they see the Light they will come. They will

come to Christ.

2. The way of the Backslider is dark.

Prov. 4:18-19. But the path of the just is like the shining sun,

that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the

wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them

stumble.

The way of the sinner is dark. Until light shines on that way

they will not even know what they are doing that wrong. The

way of the Backslider is also dark. Any time you are drifting

away from the way of the Lord, you are walking into darkness.

He needs light to see and get back on the right path.

3. The Whole World lies in Wickedness:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against

principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the

darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in

the heavenly places.

The powers ruling the world are the Agents of darkness.

They produce darkness. There is total confusion in the

world. Humans are turning God’s Creation upside down.

Males are becoming Females. Females are becoming Males.

These are the works of Darkness. It is in the midst of these

that you and I are called to be the light of the World. We

must Shine!

Are You a Preacher or Prayer Warrior? Darkness does not

fear shouting. Darkness only fears Light.

Is your Light Shining? Are you Light Yourself?

Have you been converted or you are still struggling with the

old Sinful Nature?

Our Youth need Light. Teenagers need Light.

Leave this Camp by determining to have an encounter with

the Light of God and become a Light of the World.
