 Tidepool Basket Set
Pattern Intro:  Rnd 13: [2 SC in next st, SC in next 11 sts] 6 times. 78 SC.
Basket is worked round in single crochet tapestry with two
colors for pattern. An inner liner provides extra support on
bottom and sides and is hidden by an inner crocheted layer
in a third color.
Pattern Notes:
Each block on chart represents one single crochet stitch and
each row on chart represents one round. Read chart from
right to left for each round.
Always change colors in last stitch made in working color.
When changing colors, drop first color to wrong side of work,
pick up next color and carry non-working color along tops of
stitches of previous round, working stitches over the top of
the carried yarn. Maintain an even tension of carried yarn, do
not pull tight as the work will distort.
Work in continuous rounds; do not join or turn rounds unless
otherwise stated.
Place marker at the beginning of rounds and move up as
work progresses.
The location of the increases is alternated in the bottom from
Round 8 to produce a more even circular shape.
Post SC sts are used on the beginning round of the sides
with front post sts used for the inner liner and back post sts
used for the outer basket.
DIRECTIONS
Large Basket
Work in continuous rnds without joining for bottom, and
then join rnds for vertical side.
With C1, make a magic circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as SC throughout), 6 SC in
magic circle, pull tail to tighten. 6 SC.

Before cutting fabric liner, measure across the bottom of the 2
baskets and the height on the sides to verify amounts

needed. The pieces need to be slightly smaller to fit, and it is
better to cut slightly larger than needed, rather than having a 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
piece that is cut too small. Fabric can be trimmed as needed
after cutting. Legend

Cut 4 fabric stabilizer pieces, beginning with the bottom C1

circles from one shorter end of fabric. Cut large circle first
from corner edges of fabric and then cut small circle directly C2
above from side edge of fabric. Cut the side strips with
remaining fabric, cutting large basket strip across longest
length of fabric. For the small basket cut a circle 8 inches in
diameter and a strip 5 inches high x 25 inches wide. For the
large basket cut a circle 10 inches in diameter and a strip that
is 6 inches high x 33 inches long. Before sewing, place the
cut pieces into the basket to check the size. Trim as needed.

With sewing needle and thread, lightly sew side strip to

bottom edge with a long running stitch. Let side strip ends
overlap slightly, then sew side ends together.

Place bottom circle inside outer basket, then place crocheted

liner inside with right side visible.

With RS facing join C1 in any st of outer basket, ch 1, then

working through top rounds of both inner liner and outer
basket, SC in each st around to join them together, sl st in
first SC to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
