Project

L.A.P.I.S.
(Learning Association Program for the Infamous Students)

I. Purpose
This project will focus on raising awareness about the importance of literacy
development in early childhood and providing resources and support to youth, specifically,
children ages 3-10 years old to help them develop their literacy skills. This will include
providing information on the importance of reading and writing, as well as providing access
to books, educational materials, and other resources that can further help these children
develop their literacy skills. Additionally, the project will be conducted every Saturday during
the whole month of February and will include a short program for parents to provide basic
training and help them understand how to best support children's literacy development.

II. Rationale
In our present generation, children must possess sufficient knowledge including
literacy to succeed in both school and life. According to research, children who master
literacy skills at a young age are more likely to succeed in the future and in their social lives
in the long run. However, literacy rates are low and the children that are not getting the
resources they need to become proficient readers in many communities, including the
barangay.

This project is significant and required in our barangay for several reasons. First, it
will contribute to ensuring that local children have the chance to acquire excellent literacy
abilities, which will support their long-term academic and social success. The initiative will
also assist in empowering the parents to take an active role in their children's education and
support their literacy development by increasing knowledge of the value of early literacy
development. In general, the project will contribute to the development of a better-educated
and informed community, which will ultimately be to everyone's advantage.

where the project will take place, Longos Elementary School and Buenlag Elementary School,
to request permission from the school principal to conduct their program.
Moreover, if the school principal approves, all project members and volunteers will
gather for an assembly meeting to plan and decide what they will do for their project. They will
also prepare a solicitation letter to request a donation and sponsors for the project.
