The photogrammetric survey is a technique to obtain current
high quality and detailed information of a territory in a short
period of time.
The use of drones has replaced airplanes to carry out these
kind of surveys because the weather conditions are more
flexible and costs are lower.
The type of information that is required will determine the
requirements of the flight. If a lot of detail of the site is needed,
the drone can be flown at a lower altitude; if medium detail of
a large area is required, it can be flown at medium altitude and
if only general information with less than average picture
quality is required it will be flown at a higher altitude, never
exceeding 120 meters.
The following example is a survey of an airstrip (95 ha or 9,543
acres), with an 80 meters altitude a pixel size of 2x2 cm is
obtained.
It is important to comment
that the photogrammetric
flight, gives origin to basic
information of the territory,
from the analysis of this
information, specialized
information is generated
as indicated in the
scheme.
As seen in the following image, the detail is superior to that of
any airplane flight.
After processing the images, products such as planimetry can be obtained,
which consists of the vectorization of the image obtained.

Vector images are digital images that will not be pixelated, this means, they adapt to different formats and sizes without lowering quality.
The detail will depend on the altitude at which the flight is
performed.
.
Other products that can be obtained are digital models, in
which the topography of the site can be analyzed.

Digital Terrain Model Digital Surface Model Contour Lines

Based on the previous products, various analysis of the
territory can be performed.

Traditional Topography
Spatial-Temporal Analysis

With the help of the drone

image, it is possible to
make comparative
analyses of a territory in
different temporalities, to
observe the changes to
which it has been
subjected in a period of
time.
Vegetation
Characterization

Through the aerial image of the

drone and field sampling work,
the characterization of the
vegetation can be performed.
Multispectral Survey

Through the multispectral sensor, the

plant vigor indicator (NDVI index), whose
values range from 0 to 1.0, being 0 the
value for dead vegetation and 1.0 value
for very vigorous plants and high
photosynthetic activity, it is possible to
map the distribution of the different
types of vegetation on a site.
