Alkaline Water & Electrolytes

If you’ve done any research on electrolytes, you know that they are electrically charged mineral ions enhancing electrical
conductivity.  Electrolytes enhance performance and improve stamina by maintaining optimal levels of electrical conductivity
in the body.  Most people don’t realize that the right alkaline water is also full of electrolytes.
Electrolyte drinks were introduced in the 1960’s as a fast and effective way to replenish electrolytes during and after periods
of extreme physical performance.  Over time, concerns about sodium content, sugars and additives also found in these
drinks have caused many to look at other alternatives for electrolyte replacement.

Alkaline Water Alternative

Alkaline ionized water is produced through the process of electrolysis.  During electrolysis, the water receives an electrical
charge which is picked up by the minerals found in the water.  Once the minerals are charged they become electrolytes.

Where sports drinks are loaded with sodium and potassium for electrolyte replacement, they are also loaded with sugar
and/or artificial sweeteners, carbohydrates, artificial flavors, colors and other additives.  While a significant factor in
improving performance and stamina is also hydration, the excess carbohydrates and sugars actually interfere with the body’s
ability to absorb fluids.  Electrolytes are replenished at some level but effective hydration is lost.  The result is post-
performance fatigue and increased recovery time.

Alkaline ionized water is 100% natural.  Impurities are filtered out but nothing is added in.  Alkaline water is pure water
carrying electrically charged ions (electrolytes) created through ionization.  During the ionization process, the water
molecules break  down and regroup into smaller structured clusters which actually increases hydration potential.

More than Sodium & Potassium

Because minerals are not removed from the water, the electrolytes in alkaline ionized water contain calcium, magnesium and
other vital minerals in addition to sodium and potassium.  Without a broad spectrum of trace mineral electrolytes, the body
leaches the missing mineral components from other areas of the body.

Without the addition of carbohydrates and sugars, water absorption is not inhibited.  The smaller water clusters and their
hexagonal structure go one step further to enhance the body’s ability to absorb the water – and the electrolytes it carries.

The end result is not only electrolyte replacement but better a better balance of electrolytes being replaced and more effective
hydration.  Post-performance “energy crashes” are reduced or eliminated.  Recovery times are shortened.

Before, During and After

Electrolyte replacement is typically thought of as something employed during times of extreme physical activity.  Once the
“event” is over, so is the need for electrolyte replacement.

Alkaline ionized water can be consumed anytime.  Obviously it is a choice during and after physical activity, but consuming
alkaline water on a daily basis – regardless of your physical demands – helps the body’s “electrical system” stay balanced.
Improved energy, focus, performance and stamina become the daily norm.

When it comes time for extreme physical activity, because the body has already been operating from a place of improved
electrolytic balance, the increase in stamina is immediately noticeable.   Workouts are more productive from start to finish.
Dehydration-related post-performance symptoms are reduced or eliminated altogether.

Whether you are an athlete, someone who has a regular exercise routine or a “weekend warrior” replenishing your body’s
electrolytes should not be limited to times of physical exertion.  By consuming eight to 10 glasses of alkaline ionized water a
day you are enhancing your ability to perform – both mentally and physically – regardless of your level of physicality.  When it
comes time to perform at higher physical levels, your body’s “electrical system” will be in a better condition to meet the
challenge.
