WHAT IS GREEN SKILLS?

► Green skills are

those skills needed to adapt
processes services and products
to c lin1ote c honge and the
environn1ental regulations and
requi1e1Tents related to it. They
include the knowledge abilities.
values a1d attitudes needed to
live in develop and support a
sustainable and rcsource-
effic ient society.
SeSSlon 1: SuStalnable development

• Whol Is Susl olnoble Development?

necessory.
Problems Related to Sustainable
Development
► Three major problems related to ., sustainable development are:
► Food: The amount of rich, iert~e land '~eeded to g,ow crops. such as wheel .
rice. etc.. is becoming less as we ore using up more and more land for other
purposes. Soil nutrients ore also getting depleted and lots of chemicals are
spoiling the soil due lo use or c.:hemlcal fertilisers:
► Woter: We use fresh water from rivers oncfponds for drinking and cleaning but
dump garbage into them. The rivers and ponds are getting polluted. This way
after several years. we will liove no clean wo_ter for our use.
► Fuel: We ore using a lei of wood from trees as fuels and for construction of
homes and furniture. As more and more trees ore being cut. it is affecting 'he
c limate of the place. Extreme weather conditions. such as Hoods. extreme cold
or heat. ore seen in many places, whicl1 oflecl the people living there.
Sustainable development includes

Sustainable Development
Goals(SDG)
► The Sustainable Development Goals (SOGs) ore a universal
coll of action to end poverty. protect the planet and ensure
that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
► The Sustolnoble Development Goofs (SOGs) were launched ot
the United Notions Sustainable Development Summit In
New York in September 2015, forming the 2030 Agenda for
Sustainable Development. II hos set targets that the countries
hove to should work towards and achieve by 2030
The 17 SDGs hove been mode with the aim to toke care of
important issues facing b usinesses, governments and society.

water resources. which In
near future will cause scarcity
of clean drinking and usable

Decent Work and Economic Growth
ffl
► study and find good jobs to take care of
ourselves
► and our families.
► work hard and contribute to society.
► learn and develop skills so that we get add
value in our community.
Reduced Inequalities

► To reduce inequalities we can

► l . be helpful to one another.
► 2. be friendly with everyone.
► 3. include everyone while working or playing.

► 4. help others by including everyone whether

they ore small or big, girl or boy, belong to any
class or caste.
Sustainable Cities and Communities

► Creating Sustainable
Cities
► l . Save energy by
switching off ligl1 ts and
fans when not in use.
► 2. Use natural light as
much as possible.
► 3. Use energy e fficient
lights (LED bulbs) and
appliances.
Responsible Consumers and Producers

Protect Life
Below Water
► Tons of plastic is found
in the seas, which is
killing marine life.
Protecting marine life,
saving our oceans from
pollution is necessary
to preserve the marine
life.
Protect Life on Land

► Cutting of trees is leading

to soil erosion and making
Th,f.rJw1 J;j
land dry and unusable for
cultivation. Planting more
tree to replace the ones
that we have cut is an
important step towards
sustainable development
