PK: A Versatile Movie about Indian Religions, Beliefs and Superstitions

Pk is a 2014 Hindi Comedy/Drama, Romance, and Sci-Fi movie directed by

Rajkumar Hirani and written by Hirani And Abhijat Joshi. It is led by the star Aamir Khan
who in the show is an alien and has the ability to transfer a person's memory to his own brain
by just holding a person's hands who lands on earth, as he landed; someone stole his remote
which was his way to return to his planet. But, because he was already stranded on earth at
the same time he was looking for the person who grabbed and stole his remote, he became a
living human/person here and eventually lived how humans live. In searching for his remote,
he learned and understood how life on earth works, including understanding and studying
how humans interact and act with, which was followed by his discovery of different religions
and beliefs in India, contrary to superstitions.

This film's execution is excellent. It does not mainly focus on what exactly the
different religions that exist in India along with their beliefs, it contains humorous and
smooth transitions. To PK's or Aamir Khan's acting is so wonderful, he really possessed and
made it real how aliens act. To its theme, it is also relevant and making sense especially it
will give a great lesson to watchers. And for the whole film, it shows and leaves a meaningful
and educational lesson for all.

Moreover, there is this side that I slightly relate to PK's stance on Gods and religions.
I sometimes question myself should I believe or follow my own religious beliefs? Should
they be something to believe in? Do they help us? These are the questions I can think of, but
for me, it also depends on what religious affiliation we have, it also how we value and see it,
and how we can show humanity towards everyone especially when they have different
beliefs.

Watching the movie, it gives me a moral lesson to be open minded, be vigilant, don’t
be afraid to ask questions, and to not always condone religion in our life situations. We
should not depend on Gods or to some face value superstitions, we should always focus more
on how we can possibly amend or find a solution to the mess we’ve made or problems we are
facing, because this is our reality. We can be religious and have beliefs as much as we want
as long as we know how far we should go and apply it mannerly. Lastly, it also made me
realize to always respect and understand each religion or people so chaotic situations may be
lessened or couldn’t happen.
