Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics

Founded in 1902 as Royal Higher Mechanical Engineering School


Construction of the school building on Goethestrasse in 1907
Reopened in 1946 as State School of Mechanical Engineering Aachen
after 2 years of closure due to 2nd world war
Integration into FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences (1971)
Foundation of separate departments for Aeronautics and Aircraft
Construction (1955) and General Electrical Engineering (1957)
Extension of the faculty’s name to ”Mechanical Engineering and
Mechatronics”(2000)
