Description
z Feed gas enters the bottom of the Amine Absorber and contacts both cooled
regenerated lean solvent, which enters at the top of the column. The gas is water
washed at the top of the Amine Absorber to minimize amine carryover. The treated
gas exits the Amine Absorber and is then sent to the downstream unit.
z The solvent stream from the Amine Absorber is called rich solvent and is sent to the
Rich Solvent Flash Drum to remove hydrocarbons from the solvent that were co‐
absorbed with the acid gas. The solvent from the HP Flash Drum is sent to the
Lean/Rich Exchanger, where the solvent temperature is increased by heat exchange
with the lean solvent coming from the bottom of the Solvent Regenerator. The rich
solvent exiting the Lean/Rich Exchanger is routed to the Solvent Regenerator.
z In the Solvent Regenerator the solvent is thermally regenerated. The Regenerator
Reboiler can use either hot oil or steam for heating.
