Mass Maintenance of Master Data (Material/Vendor/PIR)
SAP mass maintenance is a process of changing multiple master data entries

at once. Mass maintenance of master records is required when there are a lot
of existing master records and you need to change certain data fields in those
records. For example, in multiple vendor masters or material masters at one
time.
Such an operation can save you a lot of efforts comparing to updating those
records manually but you need to be extremely careful while making mass
changes because SAP system directly updates the tables behind the master
records and you need to have a good knowledge of tables and fields of master
records to make the necessary changes.
Step by Step Process of Mass Maintenance of Material Master

Step: -1
 For mass maintenance of Material master, I am creating new 4-5
Material just for showing purpose.
 We can also use existing data of material master as per requirement.
 Let’s create the 4-5 Material first by using T-Code: - MM01
 Enter the all mandatory details. & Save the Data.

 As you seen we are created Material master as above & As I maintain
material group for all material is 004

 Now in Mass maintenance we are going to change the Material group of
all the above material from 004 to 0909 by using mass maintenance tool
for material master.
Step: -2
 Now change the Material Group of All material by using
T-Code: - MM17
Path to Reach Mass Maintenance of Material Master: -
SAP Menu-> Logistics -> Materials Management -> Material Master -> Material
-> MM17 - Mass Maintenance
 By double click on this below screen opens.

 As the Material Group is under General Material Data
 Select the line of General Material Data & Click on Execute.

 System will give Precautionary Message just press enter. Below screen
opens
 Just enter the Material for which you need to do mass maintenance.
 Click on Execute. Below screen opens.

 As above shown click on Select Fields. Below screen opens.
 As we are interested in changing the Material Group of all above listed
material select the Material Group form dropdown list & Add to
Selection criteria as shown below.

 As we are changing the Material Group from 004 to 0909
 Select the Material group as below shown
 As below shown Select the Column & Click on Carry out a Mass Change.

 After seleccting this Click on Test Changes as shown below.
 System will show green signal means no error.

 After this Click on Save. System will give below Precautionary Message.
 System will give Above message data changed.
Step: -3
 Now check the Changed Data in T-Code: - MM03
 As above shown material group of all material range 90-94 has been
changed as per mass maintenance of material master.

 As per this mass maintenance we can change any required field in
material master for N number of material in bulk quantity.
 This is how we can do Mass Maintenance of Material Master.
Step: -4
 Also we can check the Changes by using T-Code: - MM04
 By entering T-Code below screen opens.
 Enter the Material & Execute.
 System will show you all the changes done for this material till.
 Click on any one & Check in details as below.
 System will show you the changes in details.

 Like this we change Any Master Data (Vendor/PIR/PO/PR) by using
MASS Maintenance.
 T-Code: - MASS is used for all type of Master Data Mass Maintenance
activity.
 Enter the T-Code below screen opens.
 Select the Object type which you need to do Mass Maintenance.

 Click on execute. Below screen opens.
 Select the Data which you need to change & Execute.
 Then follow the same procedure as Material Master Mass Maintenance.

 As of like this we can do Mass Maintenance of All Master Data as per
requirement.
