THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON

 Warm-up activity

Students form 4 groups and sit in a circle, each group has a colored piece of paper (pink,
green, yellow and red). The teacher says a color, for example: ´red´. The group that has the
assigned color, touches the paper and the teacher asks them to say a means of transportation,
a student says, for example: ´car´. Then the teacher says another color, for example ´yellow´,
the group that has the color yellow touches the paper and the teacher asks them to say a color
so one says, for example: ´brown´ and so on.

 Presentation

Picture Exploitation. Students comment about what they can see in the picture related to the
video they´re going to see next. The teacher asks them some questions.
- What do you see in the picture?
- What do you think that is happening?
- What do you think they are doing?

 Then they watch the video ´London´s burning´.

Activity 2

Put in order a timeline of events for the great fire of London.

Activity 3
Sing the song together in a chorus. The teacher sets up 2 groups. 3 students on one
side and the rest of the class. One of the groups of 3 students, must sing in the part
that says "fire, fire" only, while the rest of the class sings the whole song.
 Production

Rebuilt London. The City of London is offering a prize for the best design for a rebuilt London
after the Great Fire. In groups of 5, students have to create together a model of the new city
of London after the great fire.
