Duration of the lesson : 55 minutes

Aim : To familiarize the students of form I with some colours for


their daily use.

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :

 Pronounce correcty the selected colours


 Identify the different names
 Write correctly the selected colours
 Build meaningful sentences using the colours.

Prerequisites : The students of form I have already been taught


the simple present of ‘’to be’’, ‘’have’’and ordinary verbs, there
is/there are, the possessive adjectives.

Anticipated problems : the students may have problems in


pronouncing and writing correctly some colours such as green,
orange, white, black.

Anticipated solution : the teacher will lay emphasis on the


pronunciation and writing of those words.
Teaching materials : board, chalk, bucket of water, duster and
pictures.

STAGES OF THE LESSON

STAGE I : Presentation (12 mins)

Step one : Warm up (4mins)

 Greetings
 Song (are you sleeping)
 Date telling and writing
 Day’s lesson announcement

Step two : Procedure (8mins)

The teacher shows the students an image with the selected colour
and pronounces its name three times. After that, he makes the
students pronounce chorally, by row and individually. Then, he
writes the name of the colour on the board followed by an
illustrative example. He proceeds the same way till all the colours
are covered.

Red, blue, black, white, green, orange, yellow.

1- Red

Example : My neighbor don't have a red pen

2- Blue

Example : My sister favourite colour is blue

3-Black

Example :The board is black

4-white

Example :The clouds are white

5- Green

Example the leaves of the trees are green


6-Orange

Example : i have a orange t-shirt

7-Yellow

Example : my father has a yellow car.

STAGE II : Practice (15mins)

Activity 1 : Oral and individual (5mins)

Step one : Teacher – students interaction

Instruction : Identify the following colours

The teacher chooses a picture and asks the following question to


the learners : Class what colour is it ?

The teacher proceeds the same way with an other picture.

Step two : Students – students interaction

The teacher gives the picture to volunteers to proceed the same


way with the rest of the pictures as he did.

Activity 2 : Written and individual (10mins)

Instruction : Complete the following sentences with the different


colours.

1- The sky is …
2- Africans have….skin
3- The blood is …
4- The snow is …
5- Pupils write their English test with … pen.

Step two : Correction and assessment (5mins)

STAGE III : Production (20mins)

Activity : Written and pair work

Instruction : Using the different colours, build five sentences to


describes objects around you.

describe elements of your house.
