Signed Decision on Lemonade Salvage Project

Kalispell, MT, June 6, 2023 — The Flathead National Forest, Tally Lake District Ranger signed the decision
memo for the Lemonade Salvage Project this week. This project is located approximately 21 miles west of
Kalispell, Montana, near the community of Marion, within the 2022 Lemonade wildfire perimeter.
The purpose of the project is to reestablish forested conditions and facilitate recovery to meet desired
conditions outlined in the Forest Plan and to contribute to employment and income in local communities and
avoid loss of commodity value.
The signed decision approves commercial salvage harvest of 250 acres of fire-damaged trees, post-harvest
fuels mitigation and reforestation, as well as a half mile of temporary road construction and road maintenance
and reconstruction of existing Forest roads.
Project work could start as soon as autumn 2023. More information about the project can be found on the
Lemonade Salvage Project page on the Flathead National Forest’s website or by contacting Project Leader Kira
Powell at kira.powell@usda.gov or at 406-291-6813.
