P 58, ex b

With the whole class, ask your Ss to suggest brands that they will work on in pairs. (If they are short of
ideas, suggest some for them.) Try to get a good range so that they do not all work on luxury products.

Go through the Mercedes example to give them the idea. It's probably easier to get Ss to think of typical
individual users, rather than groups of users.

age: 25+ sex: male job: executive income level: €70,OOO+ other products: Hugo Boss suits, Rolex
watches, diving holidays in the Seychelles

Start the pair work. Circulate, monitor and assist if necessary. Note down language points for praise and
correction afterwards.

Praise strong language points and work on half a dozen points that need improving, getting Ss to say the
correct forms.

With the whole class, ask for some of the products and typical users that the pairs came up with.

P 71, ex 8.1 (e)

Tell Ss they have to plan a particular type of event. Divide the class into pairs and allocate a particular
task to each pair.

Circulate, monitor and assist if necessary, for example with vocabulary relating to their event.

With the whole class, ask some of the pairs to give details of their plans. Try to persuade them to use
some of the word combinations from this section in describing their plans.
