1.Is it from thinking of neighbours past in Dhu Selemi Am habbatir rīhu


That you have mixed blood in tears that flow from min tilqā-i
eyes steadily? Kādhimatin Wa

ِّ َُ ِ ‫ء‬
‫اظ َمـ‬ ِّ َ‫الر ْي لح ِّم ْن تِّ ْللْق‬
ِّ ‫ت‬ ِّ ‫أ ْم َهبَّـ‬ awmađal barqu
fidh dhalmā-i min

ِّ ‫ق فِّي ال َّظ ْل‬


َ ِِّ ‫ما ِ ِّم ْن‬
‫َ ِّم‬ ‫ض ا ْلبَ ْر ل‬ َ ‫َوأ َ ْو َم‬ Iđami

2.Or blowing of wind from the direction of Kazimah,


And lightning flashing from Idum in the dark that you see?
‫ش ْك َو ٰى ْالغ ََر ِام‬
َ ‫ص ُل ْاْل َّو ُل فِي ْالغَزَ ِل َو‬

‫ِن قل ْلتَ ا ُْفلفَا َه َمتَــا‬ ْ ‫فَ َما ِّلعَ ْينَ ْي َك‬

Wa mā li qalbika in
qulta stafiq yahimi

ْ ‫ِن قل ْلتَ ا‬
‫ست َ ِّف ْق يَ ِِّ ِّـم‬ ْ ‫َو َما ِّللْقَ ْل ِّب َك‬ Ayaĥsabuş şabbu
3.So what is wrong with your eyes: when you say annal ĥubba
“Stop!” they just weep? And with your heart: when you say, munkatimun Mā
“Be sane!” it acts crazily?

4.Does one so lovestruck imagine love is concealable,
Between a downpour from it and being so fiery?

5.If not for passion, you would have never burst into tears Fa kayfa tunkiru
At the remains, nor lost sleep over the mount or the tree. ĥubban ba'da mā

dam'i was saqami

6.So how do you still deny a love to which testified


Against you true witnesses of tears and infirmity;
‫ش ْك َو ٰى ْالغ ََر ِام‬
َ ‫ص ُل ْاْل َّو ُل فِي ْالغَزَ ِل َو‬

ِّ َ َ َ ‫ِّمث‬
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ل‬ْ khaddayka wal
'anami
7.When grief has fixed on your cheeks canals of tears and
Malaise Like branches of dogwood, red, and daffodils, yellowy? Na'am sarā ţayfu

‫ف َم ْن أ َ ْه ٰوى فَـَ َ َّرقَنِّي‬


‫ل‬ ‫ي‬
ْ َ
َ ‫س ٰرى‬ َ ‫نَعَ ْم‬ man ahwā fa
arraqanī Wal

‫ت ِّباألَلَ ِّـم‬
ِّ ‫ض اللَّـذَّا‬ ُّ ‫َوا ْل لح‬
‫ب يَ ْعت َ ِّـر ل‬
ĥubbu ya'tariđul
ladhdhati bil alami
8.Yes, sights of my love have come at night and kept me
awake;
How love repels all delights and comforts with agony!
‫ش ْك َو ٰى ْالغ ََر ِام‬
َ ‫ص ُل ْاْل َّو ُل فِي ْالغَزَ ِل َو‬

9.You critic of love so passionate, an apology
From me to you—but if you were true, you’d not
censure me. 'Adatka ĥāliya lā
sirrī bi mustatirin
‫سـت َ ِّتر‬ْ ‫س ِّـري ِّب لم‬ ِّ َ‫عَدتْ َك َحا ِّل ْي ال‬ 'Anil wushāti wa
lā dā-ī bi

ِّ ‫ع َِّن ا ْل لوشَـا ِّة َوالَ دَا ِّئي ِّب لم ْن َح‬

10.May you be spared what I bear—my secret isn’t concealed


From haters, nor is there any end to my malady.
‫ش ْك َو ٰى ْالغ ََر ِام‬
َ ‫ص ُل ْاْل َّو ُل فِي ْالغَزَ ِل َو‬

‫ص َم ِّم‬َ ‫ب ع َِّن ا ْلعلذَّا ِّل ِّف ْي‬ َّ ‫ِِّ َّن ا ْل لم ِّح‬ 'udhdhāli fī şamami
11.You’ve offered me true advice, but simply, I hear it not; Innit tahamtu
The lover is deaf to all of those who speak critically.

‫ع َذل‬ َ ‫ب فِّ ْي‬ َّ ‫ت نَ ِّص ْي َح ال‬
ِّ ‫ش ْي‬ ‫اِّنِّي ات َّ َِ ْم ل‬ 'adhalī Wash
shaybu ab'adu fī
‫صح ع َِّن الت ُّ َِ ِّم‬ ْ ‫ب أ َ ْبعَ لد فِّ ْي نل‬
‫ش ْي ل‬ َّ ‫َوال‬ nuşĥin 'anit tuhami
12, I’ve even doubted gray hair’s advice when it censures me;
Although gray hair with advice is less in dubiety.

َّ ‫ال‬ ‫ر‬ ‫ي‬ َ
ِّ ْ َ‫ِّم ْن َج ِْ ِّل َِا ِّبن‬

Min jahlihā bi
nadhīrish shaybi
1.My evil ego, in its stupidity, paid no heed wal harami
To all the warning of graying hair and seniority.

‫َّت ِّم َن ا ْل ِّف ْع ِّل ا ْل َج ِّم ْي ِّل قِّ َرى‬ َ ‫َوالَ أ‬


Wa lā a'addat minal
ْ ‫عد‬ fi'lil jamīli qirā

َ ‫سـ ْي‬ ِّ ‫َ ْيف أَلَ َّم ِّب َرأ‬


Đayfin alamma bi
ِّ َ ‫غ ْي َر لم ْحت‬
‫ش ِّـم‬ َ ra-sī ghayra
muĥtashimi
2.And hasn’t set out a spread of pleasing actions to host
A guest who showed at my head, bereft of timidity.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

ِ َّ ‫ص ُل الث‬ Law kuntu a'lamu
annī mā uwaqqiruhu
ُ‫ت أ َ ْعلَـ لم ِّأني َمـا أ ل َو ِّق لر ل‬ ‫لَ ْو لُ ْن ل‬ Katamtu sirran badā
lī minhu bil katami
‫ـرا بَـدَا ِّل ْي ِّم ْنهل ِّبا ْل َُت َ ِّم‬
َّ ‫س‬
ِّ ‫ت‬ ‫َُت َ ْم ل‬ Man lī bi raddi
3.And had I known that I’d fail to honor him, I’d have hid-
Den using hair colorant his first appearance to me. jimāĥin min
ghawāyatihā
‫غ َواي ِّت َِــا‬َ ‫َم ْن ِّل ْي ِّب َر ِّد ِّج َمــاح ِّم ْن‬ Kamā yuraddu
jimāĥul khayli bil
‫ح ا ْل َخ ْيــ ِّل ِّباللُّـ لج ِّم‬
‫َُ َما يل َر ُّد ِّجما َ ل‬ lujumi
4.Who’s there for me to control the fight of its wandering—
Just as a bit bridles horses in their obstinacy?
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

ma'āşī kasra
‫ـر شَـ ِْ َو ِّت َِا‬ َ

‫س‬ ُ ‫ي‬ ‫اص‬ ‫ع‬‫م‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ب‬ ‫م‬ ‫ر‬َ ‫ت‬ َ ‫ال‬َ shahwatihā
Innaţ ţa'āma
‫شــ ِْ َوةَ النَّ ِِّ ِّم‬
َ ‫َعَـا َم يللْقَ ِّوي‬ َّ ‫ا َِّّن ال‬ yuqawwī shahwatan
nahimi
5.So do not count on offenses to get rid of its lust;
Food only intensifies the craving of gluttony.
Wan nafsu kaţ ţifli in
‫علَى‬ َ ‫َب‬ َّ ‫الَ ْف ِّل ِِّ ْن ت ل ِْ ِّم ْلهل ش‬
ِّ َُ ‫س‬ ‫َوالنَّ ْف ل‬ tuhmilhu shabba
'alā
‫َاعِّ َو ِِّ ْن ت َ ْف َِّ ْمهل يَ ْنفَ َِّــ ِّم‬َ ‫الر‬
َّ ‫ب‬ ِّ ‫لح‬ Ĥubbir rađā'i wa in
tafţimhu yanfaţimi
6.The ego is like a baby: leave it and it grows up
In love with suckling; but wean it, and it’s weaned finally.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

‫ف َه َوا َهــا َو َحا ِّذ ْر أ َ ْن ت ل َو ِّليَهل‬ ْ ‫فَا‬

ْ ‫ص ِّر‬ tuwalliyahu

‫ص ِّم أ َ ْو يَ ِّص ِّم‬


Innal hawā mā
ْ ‫ـولَّى يل‬ َ َ ‫ِِّ َّن ا ْل َِ ٰوى َمـا ت‬ tawallā yuşmi aw
yaşimi
7.So fight its whim, and beware of giving power to it;
When whim’s empowered, it kills or damages markedly.

‫سـا ِّئ َم‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ْ


‫ع‬ َ
َ ِّ َ ‫ي ِّفي األ‬
‫م‬ ْ
َ ‫َو َرا ِّع َِـا َو‬
‫ه‬
Wa rā'ihā wa hya fil
a'māli sā-imatun

‫ت ا ْل َم ْر ٰعى فَالَ ت ِّل‬


Wa in hiya staĥlatil
‫س ِّـم‬ ِّ َ‫ست َ ْحل‬ْ ‫يا‬
َ ‫ه‬
ِّ ْ
‫ن‬ ِِّ ‫َو‬ mar'ā fa lā tusimi
8.And shepherd it carefully as it is grazing in deeds;
And if the pasture you find it fancies, don’t let it be.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

َ ‫د‬
َّ ‫ال‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫م‬
ِّْ َّ ُّ ‫س‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ َّ
‫ن‬ َ ‫ث لَ ْم يَ ْد ِّر أ‬‫ِّم ْن َح ْي ل‬
Min ĥaythu lam yadri
annas summa fid
dasami
9.How many times it’s convinced a man of killer delights—
While blind to the poison in the gravy so savory! Wa khshad dasā-isa
min jū'in wa min
ِّ ‫س ِّم ْن لج ْوع َّو ِّم ْن‬
َِ‫شب‬ َ ِّ‫سائ‬
َ ‫ش ال َّد‬
َ ‫اخ‬ْ ‫َو‬ shiba'in
Fa rubba

‫َـــر ِّم َن التُّـ َخ ِّم‬


ٌّ ‫ش‬ ‫ص‬
َ ‫م‬ ْ
َ َ َّ ‫ف ل‬
‫خ‬ ‫م‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ر‬َ makhmaşatin
sharrun minat
10.Beware the ambush of being hungry and being full; tukhami
Starvation at times is even worse than satiety.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

ِ َّ ‫ص ُل الث‬ Wa stafrighid dam'a

‫امتَل َ ْت‬ ِّ ‫ـ‬َ


ْ ‫ع ْين ق‬
‫د‬ َ ‫ست َ ْف ِّرغِّ الد َّْم َِ ِّم ْن‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
min 'aynin qadi
mtala-at

َّ َ
‫ـار ِّم َوا ْل َز ْم ِّح ْميَـ النـد َِّم‬
ِّ ‫ح‬َ ‫م‬
َ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ِّم َن ا‬
Minal maĥārimi wal
zam ĥimyatan
nadami
11.And void of tears eyes that have been stuffed with forbidden
things. Wa khālifin nafsa
Keep in the shelter of pure repentance unceasingly. wash shayţāna

‫ان َوا ْع ِّص ِِّـ َما‬ َ ََ ‫ش ْي‬َّ ‫س َوال‬ ْ


َ َّ‫ف الن‬
‫ف‬ ِّ ‫َوخا ِّل‬
wa'şihimā
Wa in humā
maĥađākan nuşĥa
‫ص َح فَات َّ ِِّ ِّـم‬
ْ ُّ‫ـاك الن‬
َ َ َ ‫َو ِِّ ْن له َمـا َم َّح‬ fat tahimi

12.And contradict both the Self and Devil, and disobey!


And if they give true advice to you, still look skeptically.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬
ْ ‫ان فِي‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Two: Warnings about the Caprices of the Ego
ِ َّ ‫ص ُل الث‬ Wa lā tuţi' minhumā
‫ص ًما َّوالَ َح َُ ًمــا‬ ْ ‫َوالَ ت ل َِّ ِْ ِّم ْن لِ َما َخ‬ khaşman wa lā
ĥakaman

‫ص ِّم َوا ْل َح َُ ِّـم‬

‫خ‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ َ
‫د‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ي‬ َ
ُ ‫ف‬
ْ ‫ْ ِّ ل‬ ‫ر‬‫ع‬ َ ‫ت‬ َ‫ت‬ ْ
‫ن‬ َ ََ‫ف‬ Fa anta ta'rifu
kaydal khaşmi wal
13.And do not settle with either as your lawyer or foe; ĥakami
You’re well aware of a lawyer’s and a foe’s treachery.

‫ع َمـل‬ َ َ‫هللا ِّم ْن ْ ِّبال‬ ‫قَولم‬


َ ‫أ ْ ِّ ل‬
‫ر‬ ‫ف‬ ‫غ‬ ْ َ ‫ت‬ ‫س‬ َ AstaghfiruLlāha min
qawlin bi lā 'amalin

‫ــم‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ ‫لْق‬‫ع‬‫ل‬ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫ذ‬
ِّ ‫ل‬
ِّ ً ‫ال‬ ‫س‬
ْ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ه‬
ِّ ‫ب‬
ِّ ‫ت‬
‫ل‬ ‫ب‬
ْ ‫س‬
َ َ ‫ن‬ ‫د‬ْ َ ‫لْق‬ َ ‫ل‬ Laqad nasbtu bihi
naslan li dhī 'uqumi
14.I ask for pardon from God for empty word with no deed;
I have ascribed by it to a sterile man progeny.
‫ِير ِم ْن ه ََوى النَّ ْف ِس‬
ِ ‫الحذ‬

‫ت ِّبــ ِّه‬ ‫أ َم ْرت ل َك ا ْل َخ ْي َر ل ُِّ ْن َّما ائْت َ َم ْر ل‬ lākin mā-tamartu bihi


Wa mā staqamtu fa

‫ت فَ َما قَ ْو ِّلي لَ َك‬ ‫سـتَلْقَ ْم ل‬


mā qawlī laka staqimi
ْ ‫َو َما ا‬
Wa lā tazawwadtu
‫ست َ ِّلْق ِّم‬ْ ‫ا‬ qablal mawti
15.I’ve ordered you to do good, but have ignored it, myself; nāfilatan
I’m not upstanding, so who am I to tell you to be? Wa lam uşalli siwā
ً ‫ت نَا ِّفلَــ‬
ِّ ‫َوالَ ت َ َز َّو ْدتُّ قَ ْب َل ا ْل َم ْو‬
farđin wa lam aşumi

‫س ٰوى فَ َرض َّولَ ْم أ ل‬
‫ص ِّم‬ ِّ ‫ص ِّل‬ َ ‫َولَ ْم أ ل‬
16.I haven’t packed extra deeds in preparation for death;
I haven’t prayed, haven’t fasted, but the compulsory.
ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Three: Praise of the Prophet
ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬
ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬ Dhalamtu sunnata

‫لى‬ ِ ‫م‬َ
ٰ ِّ َ ِّ ‫ال‬ ‫الظ‬ ‫ــا‬َ ‫ي‬ ‫ح‬
ْ َ ‫أ‬ ْ

1.I’ve violated the way of him who livened the dark,
Until his feet had complained of swelling up painfully;
Wa shadda min

‫شــا َ ُِل َو ََ ٰـوى‬ ْ ‫سغَب‬


َ ‫أح‬ َ ‫ش َّد ِّم ْن‬َ ‫َو‬ saghabin aĥshā-ahu
wa ţawā

‫ف األ َ َد ِّم‬
َ ‫شــحا ً ُّمتْ َر‬ َ ‫ت َ ْحتَ ا ْل ِّح َج‬
ْ َُ ‫ار ِّة‬ Taĥtal ĥijārati kash-
ĥan mutrafal adami
2.And out of hunger, would bind his abdomen and would wrap
Beneath a hard stone a waist whose skin is so velvety.

ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬ Wa rāwadat-hul

‫شـ ُّم ِّم ْن َذ َهب‬ُّ ‫او َدتْــهل ا ْل ِّجبَا لل ال‬


jibālush shummu
َ ‫َو َر‬ min dhahabin
'An nafsihi fa arāhā
َ ‫سـ ِّه فَـَ َ َرا َها أيَّ َمـــا‬
‫ش َم ِّم‬ ِّ ‫ع َْن نَّ ْف‬ ayyamā shamami

3.The lofty mountains made into gold for him tried to be Wa akkadat
A way to bait him, so he true loftiness let them see.
Zuhdahu fīhā
َ ‫َت لز ْه َدُل فِّ ْي َِا‬
‫َ لر ْو َرتلــهل‬ ْ ‫َوأ َ َُّــد‬ đarūratuhu
Innađ đarūrata lā

َ ‫َلى ا ْل ِّع‬
‫ص ِّم‬ َ ‫ع‬ ‫لو‬
ْ ‫د‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ـ‬‫ع‬ْ َ ‫ت‬ َ ‫ال‬ َ ‫ة‬‫ر‬َ ‫و‬
ْ ‫ر‬‫ل‬ َّ
َ ‫ال‬ ‫ن‬َّ ِِّ
ta'dū 'alal 'işami

4.His “poverty” only strengthened his disinterest in them;


For never are protectees assaulted by poverty.

‫ل‬ ْ

‫ک‬ ‫و‬ Law lā hu lam
tukhrajid dunyā
‫لَ ْوالَُل لَ ْم ت َ ْخ لرجِّ ال ُّد ْنيَا ِّم َن ا ْلعَد َِّم‬ minal 'adami
5.How could it tempt to this world—the “poverty” of him who
Muĥammadun
If not for him, the whole world would not have been made to be.
Sayyidul kawnayni
wath thaqalay
‫ــونَ ْي ِّن َوالثَّلْقَلَـ ْي ِّن‬
ْ َُ ‫س ِّـي لد ا ْل‬
َ ‫لم َح َّمد‬ -ni wal farīqayni min
'urbin wa min 'ajami

‫ع َج ِّـم‬ َ ‫ع ْـرب َّو ِّم ْن‬ ‫َوا ْلفَ ِّر ْيلْقَـ ْي ِّن ِّم ْن ل‬
6.Muhammad, the master of both worlds and both beings and
Both groups: the Arabs and the non-Arab community;

ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬
ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬ Nabiyyunal āmirun
nāhī fa lā aĥadun
‫اآلم لر النَّــا ِّه ْي فَالَ أ َ َحــد‬
ِّ ‫نَ ِّبيُّنَـا‬ Abarra fī qawli lā
minhu wa lā na'ami

ْ َ‫ـر ِّف ْي ق‬
‫ــو ِّل الَ ِّم ْنـهل َوالَ نَعَ ِّـم‬ ُّ َ‫أب‬ Huwal Ĥabībul
7.Our prophet, who is commander and forbidder—there is ladhī turjā
No one more true in his saying no or yes than is he. shafā'atuhu
‫عت لهل‬ ‫له َو ا ْل َح ِّب ْي ل‬
َ ‫ب الَّــ ِّذ ْي ت ل ْر ٰجى شَـفَا‬ Li kulli hawlin
minal ahwāli

‫ـوا ِّل لم ْلْقت َ َح ِّم‬ ْ َ


َ ‫ــل َه ْول ِّم َن األ‬
‫ه‬ ِّ ُ‫ِّل ل‬
muqtaĥami

8.He is the loved one whose intercession we’re hopeful of,


At every horror to hit—yes, every calamity.

Da'ā ilaLlāhi fal
mustamsikūna bihi
ْ ‫هللا فَا ْل لم‬
ِّ ‫سـت َ ْم‬
‫سـ لُ ْو َن ِّبـ ِّه‬ ِّ ‫ِّلى‬ٰ ‫َدعَـا ا‬ Mustamsikūna bi
ĥablin ghayri
َ ‫سـ لُ ْو َن ِّب َح ْبـل‬
‫غ ْي ِّر لم ْنفَ ِّص ِّـم‬ ِّ ‫ست َ ْم‬
ْ ‫لم‬ munfaşimi

9.He has invited to God, so all who grip onto him Fāqan Nabiyyīna fī
Are gripping rope that will never fray for eternity. khalqin wa fī

َ َ‫ف‬
‫ــاق النَّ ِّب ِّي ْي َن ِّف ْي َخ ْلـق َو ِّف ْي لخللـق‬ khuluqin
Wa lam yudānūhu fī

‫ـر ِّم‬
َ َُ َ ‫ال‬ ‫و‬
َّ ‫ـم‬‫ـ‬‫ل‬ْ ‫ع‬
ِّ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫ف‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ ُ‫و‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫َا‬ ‫د‬ ‫ـ‬‫ل‬ ‫ي‬ ‫م‬ َ
ْ ‫َول‬
'ilmin wa lā karami

10.He tops the prophets in both appearance and character;


They don’t approach him in knowledge or in gen’rosity.

ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬ Wa kulluhum min

‫هللا لم ْلت َ ِّمـس‬ ‫َو لُــلُّ لِ ْم ِّم ْن َّر ل‬


RasūliLlāhi
ِّ ‫س ْـو ِّل‬ multamisun
Gharfan minal baĥri
ِّ ‫شفا ً ِّم َن‬
‫الديَ ِّـم‬ ْ ‫غ ْرفَا ِّم َن ا ْلبَ ْح ِّر أ َ ْو َر‬
َ aw rashfan minad
diyami
11.And all of them are receiving from Allah’s Messenger
A sip from down-pouring rain or handful scooped from
the sea.
Wa wāqifūna
ladayhi 'inda
‫ــم‬
ِّ ‫ه‬
ِّ ‫د‬
ِّ ‫ح‬
َ َ
‫د‬ ‫ـ‬ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫َو َوا ِّقفل ْـو َن لَدَيـْـ ِّه ع‬ ĥaddihimi
Min nuqţatil 'ilmi aw

َ ‫ِّم ْن نُّ ْلْق ََ ِّ ا ْلع ْل ِّم أ َ ْو ِّم ْن‬


‫ش ُْلَ ِّ ا ْل ِّح َُ ِّـم‬ min shaklatil ĥikami

12.And all are standing before him at their own limits fixed:
A dot of knowledge or mark from words of sagacity.

‫و‬ ُ ‫ــا‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ع‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ َ ‫ت‬ ‫ذي‬ ‫ـ‬ َّ ‫ل‬‫ا‬ ‫و‬ ِ
ْ َ Thumma şţafāhu
Ĥabīban Bāri-un
‫ــم‬
ِّ ‫س‬
َ َّ ‫ن‬ ‫ال‬ ِ
‫ل‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ار‬
ِّ َ ‫ب‬ ‫م‬ً ‫ا‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫ب‬
ِّ ‫ح‬َ ‫ل‬ ُ‫ـا‬َ ‫ف‬ََ ‫ص‬
ْ ‫ا‬ ‫م‬ ‫ل‬
َّ ‫ث‬ nasami
13.He is the one with perfected essence and outward form; Munazzahun 'an
14.Picked as the love of the Maker of all humanity.
sharīkin fī maĥāsinihi
‫ســ ِّن ِّه‬ ِّ ‫َـن ش َِّـر ْيك ِّف ْي َم َحا‬ ْ ‫ـزُ ع‬ َّ َ‫لمن‬ Fa jawharul ĥusni fīhi
ghayru munqasimi

‫س ِّـم‬ َ ‫ـن ِّف ْي ِّه‬


ِّ َ‫غ ْي لر لم ْنلْق‬ ِّ ‫س‬
ْ ‫ح‬
‫ل‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ر‬
‫ل‬ َ
‫ه‬ ‫ـو‬ْ ‫ج‬
َ َ ‫ف‬
14.Beyond a partner in his so beautiful qualities;
Yes, undivided in him is beauty’s whole entity.

ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬ Da' mad-da'at-hun

‫ص ٰارى ِّف ْي نَ ِّب ِّي ِِّ ِّـم‬ َ َّ‫عتْهل الن‬


naşārā fī
َ ‫َد ْع َمــا ا َّد‬ Nabiyyihimi
Wa ĥkum bi mā shi-
‫احت َ ُِّ ِّـم‬ ْ ‫شئْتَ َم ْدحا ً ِّف ْي ِّه َو‬
ِّ ‫اح لُ ْم ِّب َما‬
ْ ‫َو‬ ta madĥan fīhi wa
ĥtakimi
15.Avoid what Christians have claimed about their own
messenger;
And give to him any praise you wish, and praise sensibly.
Wansub ilā dhātihi
mā shi-ta min
‫َـرف‬ َ ‫ش‬ ‫ن‬ْ ‫م‬
ِّ َ‫ت‬ْ ‫ئ‬ ‫ش‬
ِّ َ ِّ ِّ ‫ِّلى‬
‫ا‬ ‫م‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ا‬ َ
‫ذ‬ ٰ ‫س ْب ا‬‫َوا ْن ل‬ sharafin
Wansub ilā qadrihi

‫شئْتَ ِّم ْن ِّع َظ ِّـم‬ ِّ َ ِّ ‫ِّلى ق‬


‫ا‬ ‫م‬ ُ
ِّ ‫ر‬ ‫د‬ْ َ ٰ ‫س ْب ا‬‫َوا ْن ل‬ mā shi-ta min
'idhami
16.Ascribe to his person what you wish of nobility;
Ascribe to his stature what you wish of immensity.

ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬
Fa inna fađla
‫ـس لَهل‬ َ ْ ‫ي‬َ ‫ل‬ ‫هللا‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ ‫ــو‬ ‫س‬ ‫ر‬
ِّ ْ ‫َ َ ل‬ ‫ل‬ َْ َ ‫ف‬ َّ
‫ن‬ ِّ
‫ا‬ ‫ـ‬َ ‫ف‬ RasūliLlāhi laysa
lahu
‫ـاَق ِّبفَ ِّم‬ِّ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ـ‬‫ن‬ْ ‫ع‬ ‫ب‬ َ
َ ِّ ْ ‫َحـ ٌّد ف ل‬
‫ـر‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ي‬ Ĥaddun fa yu'riba
'anhu nāţiqun bi
17.Indeed, Allah’s Messenger’s perfection has no frontier fami
That any speaker could ever verbalize orally.

ً ‫سـبَ ْت قـ ْد َرُل آيـ َاتلهل ِّعظمـا‬ َ َ
َ ‫ ل ْو نـا‬qadrahu āyātuhu
Law nāsabat

‫الر َم ِّم‬
ِّ ‫س‬
َ ‫َار‬
ِّ ‫د‬ ‫ى‬ ‫ع‬
َ ْ
‫د‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ َ ‫ي‬ ‫ح‬ ‫ل‬
‫أ ْ َ ْ ل ِّ ْ ل‬Aĥya-smuhu ĥīna
‫ه‬ ‫م‬ ‫س‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ـا‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ح‬َ 'idhaman

18.And were his marvels to match his worth in greatness, yud'ā dārisar rimami
his name,
When called, would give life to bones decayed to nihility.

ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬ Lam yamtaĥinnā bi

‫لَ ْم يَ ْمت َ ِّحنَّــا ِّب َمـا ت َ ْعيَـا ا ْلعللْقل ْو لل ِّبـ ِّه‬ mā ta'yal 'uqūlu bihi
Ĥirşan 'alayna fa

‫ـب َولَ ْم نَ ِِّ ِّم‬ ْ ْ ْ ‫علَ ْينَـا ف‬


َ ‫ت‬ ‫ر‬َ ‫ن‬ ‫م‬َ ‫ل‬َ َ ‫صـا‬ ً ‫ِّح ْر‬
lam nartab wa lam
nahimi
19.He tried us not, from concern, with things that boggle
the mind; A'yal warā fahmu
And so we haven’t faced any doubt or perplexity. ma'nāhu fa laysa

‫س يل ٰرى‬ ‫ي‬َ ‫ل‬َ ‫ف‬ ُ‫ـا‬


َ ْ ‫ْ ل َ ْ ل‬ ‫ـ‬ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ع‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ِ َ ‫ف‬ ‫ى‬ ‫ر‬ٰ ‫و‬ ْ
َ َ ‫أ‬
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ي‬ ْ
‫ع‬ َ yurā
Fil qurbi wal bu'di
fīhi ghayru
‫غـ ْي لر لم ْنفَ ِّح ِّم‬ َ ‫ب َوا ْلبل ْعـ ِّد ِّف ْي ِّه‬ ‫ل‬
ِّ ْ ‫ِّفي ا‬
‫ر‬ ‫لْق‬‫ل‬ْ munfaĥimi

20.Conceiving his meaning has exhausted the universe;


So near or far, one not dumbstruck by it you will not see.

haru lil 'aynayni min
ْ ‫م‬
‫نم‬ bu'udin
Şaghīratan wa
‫ف ِّم ْن أ َ َم ِّـم‬ ‫ـر‬ َّ
َ ْ ‫ص ِّغ ْي َرةً َوت ل ُِّـ ُّل ال‬
َ َ tukilluţ ţarfa min
amami
21.Much like the sun: from afar it does appear small to eyes,
And would impair any vision when in proximity.
Wa kayfa yudriku fid
‫ف يلــ ْد ِّر لك ِّفي ال ُّد ْنيـَـا َح ِّلْق ْيلْقَتَهل‬ َ ‫َو َُ ْي‬ dunyā Ĥaqīqatahu
Qawmun niyāmun

‫ع ْنهل ِّبـا ْل لحلل ِّم‬ َ ‫سلَّ ْوا‬


َ َ ‫ت‬ ‫ــام‬ َ ِّ ْ ‫ق‬
‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫م‬ ‫ــو‬ َ tasallū 'anhu bil
ĥulumi
22.And how could people asleep, distracted from him by dreams,
Begin to grasp in the present world his reality!
ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Three: Praise of the Prophet
ُ ‫ص ُل الثَّا ِل‬ Fa mablaghul 'ilmi

‫فَ َم ْبلَ لغ ا ْل ِّعــ ْل ِّم ِّف ْي ِّه أَنَّــهل بَشَــر‬


fīhi annahu basharun
wa annahu Khayru

‫ـــل ِِّ ِّم‬ُ‫ل‬ ‫هللا‬


ِّ ِّ ِّ ‫ـق‬ ْ
‫ل‬ َ
‫خ‬ ‫ر‬‫ْل‬‫ي‬ ‫خ‬َ ‫ل‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ــ‬َّ ‫ن‬َ ‫َوأ‬
khalqiLlāhi kullihimi

23.The peak of knowledge about him is that he is a man Wa kullu āyin atar
And is the best of Allah’s creation, entirely. Ruslul kirāmu bihā

24.And all the marvels the noble messengers have conveyed
Have come to them from the light of Ahmad exclusively.

Yudh-hirna
ُّ ‫ـاس ِّفي ال‬
‫ظلَ ِّم‬ ِّ ‫ـ‬َّ ‫ن‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬ ِّ ‫ا‬ َ
‫ه‬ ‫وار‬
َ َ ‫ـ‬ ْ
‫ن‬ َ ‫أ‬ َ
‫ن‬ ‫ر‬ْ ِّ ‫يل‬
ِ ْ
‫ظ‬ anwārahā lin nāsi
fidh dhulami
25.He is the Sun of esteem, to which they are as if moons:
Reflecting its lights in darknesses to humanity. Akrim bi khalqi
‫ـق نَ ِّبي َزانَــهل لخللـق‬ ِّ ْ
‫ل‬ َ
‫خ‬ ‫ب‬
ِّ ْ ِّ ‫أ‬
‫م‬ ‫ــر‬ ْ
ُ َ Nabiyyin zānahu
khuluqun

‫س ِّـم‬ ْ
ْ ‫شـت َ ِّمل ِّبال ِّب‬
ِّ َّ ‫ش ِّـر لمت‬ ‫م‬ ْ ‫ـن لم‬ ِّ ‫س‬
ْ ‫ح‬
‫ل‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ِّبا‬ Bil ĥusni
mushtamilin bil
26.How grand the form of a Prophet brightened by character, bishri muttasimi
Enveloped by handsomeness, distinguished by jollity!

ِ ‫ث فِي َم ْدحِ النَّبِي‬ Kaz zahri fī tarafin

ِّ ‫ر‬ ‫د‬ ْ ‫ـ‬َ ‫ب‬ ْ
َ ْ ِّ ‫الز ْه ِّر ِّف ْي ت َ َرف َّوا‬
‫ل‬ َّ َُ wal badri fī sharafin
Wal baĥri fī karamin

‫ــرم َّوالـ َّد ْه ِّر ِّف ْي ِّه َم ِّم‬ َ ‫ف‬


ِّ ‫ر‬‫ح‬ْ َ ‫ب‬ ‫ل‬ ْ
َ ْ ِّ ‫ َوا‬Ka annahu wa hwa
ُ ‫ي‬
wad dahri fī himami

27.Like flowers in fineness, the full moon in ascendancy,


The ocean in giving, and all time in tenacity. fardun min

‫ـو فَ ْرد ِّم ْن َجالَلَتِّــ ِّه‬ ْ ‫ل‬


َ َ َ‫َُــ‬
‫ه‬ ‫و‬ ‫ه‬ َّ ‫ن‬َ jalālatihi
Fī 'askarin ĥīna

‫سـ َُر ِّح ْي َن تِّ ْللْقَاُل َوفِّ ْي َحشَــ ِّم‬


talqāhu wa fī
ْ ‫ع‬ َ ‫فِّ ْي‬ ĥashami
28.When he’s alone and you meet him, he is like one amid
An army and entourage, because of his majesty.

‫صدَف‬ ‫ي‬

ُ ‫م‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ل‬

29.From treasure chests of his eloquence and his beaming grin
Do seem to be pearls preserved within their shells preciously. Lā ṭība yaʿdilu

30.No scent compares to the earth embracing his blessed form;

1.His noble birth did reveal the purity of his roots. Yawmun tafarrasa fīhil
How pure the outset of them as well as finality!

2.A day the Persians perceived that they indeed had been warned
Of the occurrence of suffering and adversity.

3.The Arch of Khosrau had passed the night while falling apart;
Just like the status of Khosrau’s peers: without unity. Wan nāru

ِّ ‫ـاس‬ِّ َ ‫ف‬‫ن‬ْ َ ‫ـام َدةل اْأل‬
ِّ ‫ار َخ‬ ‫َوالنَّ ل‬ khāmidatul anfāsi
min asafin

َ ‫سـا ِّهي ا ْلعَ ْي ِّن ِّم ْن‬


‫سـ َد ِّم‬ َ ‫علَ ْي ِّه َوالنَّ ِْ لر‬
َ 'Alayhi wan nahru
sāhil 'ayni min
4.The fire was short of breath out of regret over it. sadami
The river lost all its current out of despondency.

َ ‫غا‬ َ ‫ـاوةَ أ َ ْن‬ َ ‫س‬ َ ِ َ ‫سـا‬ َ ‫َو‬
ghāđat
buĥayratuhā

ِّ ‫َو لر َّد َو ِّار لد َهـا ِّبــا ْلغَ ْي ِّظ ِّح ْي َن َظ‬


Wa rudda wāriduhā
‫ـم ْي‬ bil ghaydhi ĥīna
5.It saddened Sawa to find the drying up of its lake, dhamī
And thirsty seekers returning from the place angrily.

‫ـا ِ ِّم ْن بَلَـل‬ َّ
ِّ ِّ َ‫َُــ‬
‫ن‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ب‬ َّ
‫ن‬ َ Ka anna bin nāri mā
bil mā-i min balalin
Ĥuznan wa bil mā-i
‫ـر ِّم‬
َ ََ ‫ا ِ َما ِّبـالنَّ ِّار ِّم ْن‬ِّ ‫لح ْزنـا ً َّو ِّبـا ْل َم‬ mā bin nāri min

6.As if the fire had gotten water’s wetness from grief;
And water had burnt up as a fire burns seethingly.

7.The jinn were speaking aloud, and lights were shining so bright; 'Ammū wa şammū
The Truth is made manifest in signal and verbally. fa i'lānul bashā-iri
‫ص ُّم ْوا فَــ ِّإ ْعالَ لن ا ْلبَشَـائِّ ِّر لَ ْم‬

‫ــارقَ ا ِّإلنذ ِّار ل ْم تش َِّـم‬ ْ ‫تل‬

8.But blind and deaf they were so the happy news went unheard;
And flashes of lightning as a warning they didn’t see.

mu'wajja lam yaqumi
9.All after their fortune teller notified all the folk
Their old religion so crooked soon would no longer be.

Munqađđatin wifqa

‫ـا‬ ‫م‬ ‫ـق‬ ْ
‫ف‬ َّ َ‫لم ْنلْق‬ mā fil arđi min

10.And after they eyed in the horizons the shooting stars
All crashing like statues in the earth for idolatry.

َ ‫اَ ْي ِّن يَ ْلْقفل ْوا ِِّث‬
‫ـر لم ْن َِ ِّـز ِّم‬ ِّ َ‫ِّم َن الشَّـي‬ yaqfū ithra

11.Until from the source of revelation, up in the sky,
One after the other, each retreating demon did flee. Ka annahum

‫َُـََنَّ لِ ْم َه َربـَـا أ َ ْب ََــا لل أ ْب َر َهـ‬

Aw 'Askarin bil

‫صى ِّم ْن َّرا َحت َ ْيـ ِّه لر ِّم ْي‬ ٰ ‫س َُر ِّبـا ْل َح‬ْ ْ‫أ‬

rumī
12.They were when fleeing just like the heroes of Abrahah,
Or like a pelted-with-pebbles-from-his-hands infantry.

‫س ِّبيح ِّببَ َْ ِّن ِِّ َما‬


ْ َ ‫نَ ْبذًا ِّب ِّه بَ ْع َد ت‬
Nabdhan bihi ba'da
tasbīĥin bi baţnihimā

ِّ ‫س ِّبحِّ ِّم ْن أ َ ْحش‬ َ Nabdhal Musabbiĥi


‫َا ِ لم ْلت َ ِّلْق ِّم‬ َ ‫نَ ْب ل‬
‫م‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ذ‬ min aĥshā-i
multaqimi
13.Hurled after having extolled while in the palms of his hands;
Hurled like the swallowed extoller from the gut cavity.

Tamshī ilayhi 'alā
‫ساق ِّبالَ قَد َِّم‬َ ‫علَى‬
َ ‫شي ِِّلَ ْي ِّه‬ ِّ ‫ت َ ْم‬ sāqin bilā qadami
1.The trees had come for his call, prostrate in humility;
They came to him on their trunks, like footless legs, walking free.
Ka annamā saţarat
saţran limā katabat
‫سـ َْ ًرا ِّل َما َُتَبَ ْت‬ َ ‫ت‬ْ ََ
َ َ َ َ‫َُـ‬
‫ر‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫س‬ ‫ا‬‫م‬ َّ ‫ن‬َ Furū'uhā min badī'il
khaţţi bil laqami
‫ع َِـا ِّم ْن بَـ ِّد ْي ِِّ ا ْل َخ َِّ ِّفي اللَّـلْقَ ِّم‬‫فل لر ْو ل‬
2.As if they had drawn along the way a straight line for what
Their branches had written in the finest calligraphy.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

Taqīhi ĥarra waţīsin

‫ت َ ِّلْق ْيـ ِّه َح َّر َو َِّ ْيـس ِّل ْل َِ ِّجــ ْي ِّر َح ِّم ْي‬
lil hajīri ĥamī

3.Just like the cloud moving with him as he moved anywhere; Aqsamtu bil qamaril
From noon’s intense oven heat protecting him constantly. munshaqqi inna

‫ن‬ ‫م‬‫ل‬ ْ

4.I swear an oath by the moon, which split in two, that it has
A likeness to his pure heart—an oath of veracity.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

‫ع ْنهل ع َِّم ْي‬ َ ‫َو لُــ ُّل ََ ْرف ِّم َن ا ْل لُفَّ ِّار‬ kuffāri 'anhu 'amī

5.And what the cave did contain of good and nobility; Faş Şidqu fil ghāri
With every look from the disbelievers too blind to see. waş Şiddīqu lam

‫ق لَ ْم يَ ِّر َمـا‬ ‫ي‬

‫ِّ َ ِّ ل‬‫ص‬ ‫ال‬ ‫و‬ ‫ـار‬ َ ‫غ‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ق‬
ِّ ‫ف ِّ ل‬ ‫د‬ْ ‫الص‬ َ yarimā
Wa hum yaqūlūna
mā bil ghāri min
‫ــار ِّم ْن أ َ ِّر ِّم‬
ِّ َ ‫غ‬‫ل‬ْ ‫ا‬‫ب‬
ِّ ‫ـا‬‫م‬َ ‫ن‬َ ‫و‬ ْ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬‫و‬ْ ‫ل‬ ‫َو له ْم يَلْق‬ arimi

6.The Truth and Truthful in Faith inside the cave hadn’t moved;
All while they were saying that inside the cave none could be.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

Khayril bariyyati
‫سـجْ َولَ ْم ت َ لح ِّم‬‫َخــ ْي ِّر ا ْلبَ ِّريَّـ ِّ لَ ْم ت َ ْن ل‬ lam tansuj wa lam
taĥumi
7.They thought no dove hovered and no spider spun any web,
For him, the Best of Creation—thinking its vacancy.

َ‫عف‬َ ‫َـا‬َ ‫هللا أ َ ْغنَ ْت ع َْن ُّم‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ َ
َ ‫ِّوق‬
‫ي‬ ‫ـا‬ aghnat 'an
muđā'afatin

‫ِّم َن الد لُّر ْوعِّ َوع َْن عَــال ِّم َن األ ل ل‬


‫َ ِّم‬ Minad durū'i wa 'an
'ālin minal uţumi
8.The protection of Allah (Almighty made the Holy Prophet‫) صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬
wantless from double, armours and the high forts.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

‫ت ِّب ِّه‬ ْ ‫َ ْيما ً َّوا‬


‫ست َ َج ْر ل‬ َ ‫سـا َم ِّني ال َّد ْه لر‬ َ ‫ما‬

bihi
Illā wa niltu jiwāran
َ ‫ـوارا ً ِّم ْنهل لَ ْم يلـ‬
‫َ ِّم‬ َ ‫ت ِّج‬ ‫ِِّال َو ِّنـ ْل ل‬ minhu lam yuđami
9.No day has time gone to harm me and I have sought his care,
But that I have gotten care from him, without mockery. Wa lal tamastu
ghinad dārayni min
ُِّ ‫َّار ْي ِّن ِّم ْن يَّـ ِّد‬
َ ‫د‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ى‬َ ‫ن‬ ‫غ‬
ِّ ‫ـت‬
‫ل‬ ‫س‬
ْ ‫م‬ َ ْ
َ ‫َوال ا‬
‫ت‬ ‫ل‬ Yadihi
Illā stalamtun nadā

ْ ‫ت النَّ ٰدى ِّم ْن َخ ْي ِّر لم‬


‫سـتَلَ ِّم‬ ‫ستَلَ ْم ل‬ ْ ‫ِِّال ا‬ min khayri
mustalami
10.Nor have I asked of the riches of both worlds from his hand,
Without largesse from the best of givers coming to me.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

Lā tunkiril waĥya min
‫ي ِّم ْن لر ْؤيَـاُل ِِّ َّن لَهل‬ َ ‫ح‬ ْ ‫و‬َ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ــر‬ ِّ ُ ِّ ‫ن‬ْ ‫ل‬ ‫ال ت‬ Ru-yāhu inna lahu
Qalban idhā nāmatil

‫ـان لَ ْم يَنَ ِّـم‬


ِّ َ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫ع‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ت‬
ِّ ‫م‬
َ ‫ــا‬ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ا‬‫ذ‬َ ِّ ‫ا‬ ً ‫ا‬ ‫ب‬ ْ
‫ل‬ َ ‫ق‬
'aynāni lam yanami

11.Do not deny revelation from his dreaming, because Wa dhāka ĥīna
His heart, though his eyes may shut, is open wide and does see. bulūghin min

‫ــوغ ِّم ْن نُّبل َّو ِّتــــ ِّه‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬

‫ن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ح‬ َ

‫ذ‬ ‫َو‬ Nubuwwatihi
Fa laysa yunkaru fīhi

‫ــم‬ َ
ِّ ِّ ْ ‫ف ْ َ ل ل ِّ ْ ِّ َ ل ل‬
‫ل‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ح‬ ‫م‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ح‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ر‬َُ ‫ـ‬ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫س‬ ‫ي‬ َ ‫ل‬َ ĥālu muĥtalim

12.And that was so at the very start of his prophethood:


So with that state of the dreaming no one can disagree.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

Wa lā nabiyyun 'alā
ghaybin bi muttaham
13.How blest is God: revelation isn’t something attained;
Nor is a prophet suspected in what we do not see. Kam abra-at waşiban
‫َُــ ْم أ ْب َرأ َ ْت َو ِّصبـا ًم ِّباللَّ ْم ِّس َرا َحتلهل‬ bil lamsi rāĥatuhu
Wa aţlaqat ariban

‫َوأ َ َْلَلْقَ ْت أ َ ِّربــا ً ِّم ْن ِّر ْبــلْقَ ِّ اللَّ َم ِّم‬ min ribqatil lamami

14.How many times has his palm by touch relieved the unwell,
And freed the helpless from in the noose of insanity.
‫س فِي ُم ْع ِجزَ اتِ ِه ﷺ‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالخ‬

a da'watuhu

‫ص ِّر ال ُّد له ِّـم‬ ْ


‫ع‬ َ
‫غ َّرةً ِّفي األ ل‬ ‫ي َح َُ ْت ل‬ ّٰ ‫َحت‬
Ĥattā ĥakat
ghurratan fil
15.His call gave life to a gray and barren year full of drought; a'şurid duhumi
Till it became like a star in ages of ebony;

َ ْ ْ َ
‫ِّبعَ ِّارض َجا َد أ ْو ِّخلتَ ال ِّبَـا َح ِّب َِــا‬
Bi 'āriđin jāda aw
khiltal biţāĥa bihā
Sayban minal
‫سـ ْيل ِّم َن ا ْلعَ ِّر ِّم‬ َ ‫ي‬‫ل‬ْ
َ ْ ِّ ‫سـ ْيب ِّم َن ا‬
‫أو‬ ‫م‬ َ yammi aw saylan
minal 'arimi
16.With teeming clouds—you’d have thought the valleys
had rivers flow
In from the sea, or a flooded dam that gushed viciously.

1.Leave me alone to describe his miracles, which are plain Fad durru yazdādu
As nightly fire on mountains, lit as a courtesy. ĥusnan wa hwa

‫سـنا ً َو ْه َو لم ْنت َ ِّظ لم‬ْ ‫فَالــد ُُّّر يَ ْزدَا لد لح‬

Wa laysa yanquşu

َ ً ‫ص قَــ ْدرا‬
qadran ghayra
‫غ ْي َر لم ْنت َ ِّظ ِّم‬ ‫س يَـ ْنلْقل ل‬
َ ‫َولَ ْي‬ muntadhimi
2.For pearls increase in their beauty when arranged on a string,
But aren’t less precious kept alone and separately.

Mā fīhi min karamil

3.What eulogizing has any hope of stretching to reach Āyātu ĥaqqin min ar-
What he possesses in noble nature and quality? Raĥmāni muĥdathatun
‫الر ْح ٰم ِّن لم ْح َدثَــ‬
َّ ‫ـات َحق ِّم َن‬ ‫آيـ َ ل‬ Qadīmatun şifatul
mawşūfi bil qidami
ْ
‫ف ِّبال ِّلْقـ َد ِّم‬ ‫ـو‬ ‫ص‬
‫ل‬
ِّ ْ ْ َ ‫و‬ ‫م‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ل‬ َ ‫ف‬‫ص‬ِّ َ ‫ق‬

4. True signs from the Merciful, originated in time,
Beginningless, trait of Him Who is beginninglessly.

tukhbirunā

‫ع َِّن ا ْل َمعَـــا ِّد َوع َْن عـاد َّوع َْن ِِّ َر ِّم‬
'Anil Ma'ādi wa 'an
'ādin wa 'an irami
5.They aren’t bound by constraints of time, as they tell us of
The day to come, also Aad and Irum—past history. Dāmat ladaynā fa

‫دَا َم ْت لَ َد ْينـَا فَفَاقَ ْت لُــ َّل لم ْع ِّج َزة‬ fāqat kulla


mu'jizatin

‫ِّم َن النَّ ِّب ِّي ْي َن ِِّ ْذ َجــا َ ِ ْت َولَ ْم تَـد ِّلم‬


Minan Nabiyyīna
idh jā-at wa lam
6.They stayed among us, and so transcended all miracles tadumi
From all the prophets, as they had come and then ceased to be.

‫شـبَه‬ ‫لم َح َُّـ َمات فَ َمــا ت ل ْب ِّلْق ْي َن ِّم ْن ل‬ tubqīna min shubahin
Li dhī shiqāqin wa mā

‫شـلْقَاق َّو َما ت َ ْب ِّغ ْي َن ِّم ْن ِّح َُ ِّم‬


tabghīna min ĥakami
ِّ ‫ِّلــ ِّذ ْي‬
7.So wise and clear, that they leave no room for a single doubt Mā ĥūribat qaţţu illā
To an opponent and have no need for a referee. 'āda min ĥarabin
A'dal a'ādī ilayhā

‫عــا َد ِّم ْن َح َرب‬ َ ‫َ ِِّال‬ ُّ َ‫َما لح ْو ِّربَ ْت ق‬ mulqiyas salami

‫سلَ ِّم‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ي‬ ‫لْق‬


َّ َ ِّ ‫ل‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫م‬ ‫ا‬ ِ
َ ‫ي‬
ْ َ ‫ل‬ ِّ ‫ا‬ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫د‬
ِّ ‫َـا‬

8.And never were they attacked except that from battle did
Return to them with surrendered arms the worst enemy.

yadal jānī 'anil
‫ور يَـ َد ا ْلجــا ِّن ْي ع َِّن ا ْل لح َر ِّم‬ِّ ‫ل‬ ‫ي‬َ ‫غ‬‫ل‬ْ ‫َر َّد ا‬ ĥurami
9.Their eloquence fought off their dissenters’ claim, as a man
That is protective fights off attack from his family. Lahā ma'ānin ka

‫لَ َِا َمعَــان َُ َم ْوجِّ ا ْلبَ ْح ِّر فِّ ْي َمـدَد‬

‫ـن َوا ْل ِّلْقيَ ِّم‬

ْ ‫َوف‬
Wa fawqa jawharihi
fil ĥusni wal qiyami
10.Possessing meanings like waves upon the sea in support;
Surpassing its treasures in allure and sublimity.

Fa mā tu'addu wa lā
‫ع َجا ِّئبل َِـا‬َ ‫ـصى‬ ٰ ‫فَ َمـا تلـعَ ُّد َوال ت ل ْح‬ tuĥşā 'ajā-ibuhā
Wa lā tusāmu 'alal

‫سَ َ ِّم‬ ِّ َ ‫اإل ُْثـ‬


َّ ‫ـار ِّبال‬ ِّ ‫سـا لم عَلى‬ َ ‫َوال ت ل‬
ikthāri bis sa-ami

11.Such that their wonders are countless and beyond any bound, Qarrat bihā 'aynu
And never found to be tiresome in great quantity. qārīhā fa qultu lahu
‫ت لَــهل‬ ‫ع ْي لن قَ ِّار ْي َِا فَلْقل ْل ل‬
َ ‫قَ َّر ْت ِّب َِـا‬ Laqad dhafirta bi
ĥabliLlāhi fa'taşimi

‫هللا فَـا ْعت َ ِّص ِّم‬ِّ ‫لَلْقَـ ْد َظفَ ْـرتَ ِّب َح ْبـ ِّل‬
12.By them is soothed their reciter’s eye, so I said to him,
“You have indeed found the rope of God, so hold steadily.”

Aţfa-ta ĥarra ladhā

َّ ‫أ َ َْفََْتَ َح َّر لَظی ِّم ْن ِّو ْر ِّد َها ال‬

13.If you recite them in worry of the fire of Hell,
From their cool fountain you douse the burn of Hell utterly. Ka annahal Ĥawđu
tabyađđul wujūhu bihi
‫ض ا ْل لو لجوُل ِّبـ ِّه‬ ُّ َ‫ض ت َ ْبي‬
‫ْ ل‬‫و‬ ‫ح‬َ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ا‬ ِ
َ َّ ‫ن‬َ َ‫َُــ‬ Minal 'uşāti wa qad jā-
ūhu kal ĥumami

‫صا ِّة َوقَــ ْد َجا لؤ ْوُل َُا ْل ِّح َم ِّـم‬ َ ‫ِّم َن ا ْلعل‬
14.Just like the Basin, as it is whitening every face,
Of sinners coming to it like coals as black as can be.

‫ل‬ ‫اَ َو َُـا‬ ِّ َُ ‫َو‬
ِّ ‫ـالص َر‬
Mīzāni ma'dalatan
Fal qisţu min

‫ـاس لَ ْم يَلْقل ِّم‬ ِّ َّ ‫ن‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬


ْ ِّ ِّ ْ ‫ا‬‫ه‬َ ‫ر‬ ‫ي‬ َ
‫غ‬ ‫ن‬ْ ‫م‬ ‫ل‬
ِّ ْ ِّ ‫ف‬
َ ‫س‬‫لْق‬‫ل‬ْ ‫ا‬َ ghayrihā fin nāsi lam
yaqumi
15.And like the straight Bridge and like the Balance in equity:
Without them no justice is maintained in society. Lā ta'jaban li
ĥasūdin rāĥa
‫س ْـود َّرا َح يل ْن ُِّ لر َهــا‬ ‫ال ت َ ْع َجبَ ْن ِّل َح ل‬ yunkiruhā
Tajāhulan wa hwa
‫ق ا ْلفَ ِِّ ِّم‬
ِّ ‫ذ‬
ِّ ‫ـا‬‫ح‬َ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ل‬
‫ين‬ ْ ‫ـ‬‫ع‬َ ‫ـو‬
َ ‫ل‬
‫ه‬ ‫و‬َّ ً ‫ال‬ ‫ل‬

16.Be not amazed by a hater in denial of them,
Who acts unknowing despite full knowledge and mastery.

17.An eye may even reject the light of sun when inflamed;

A mouth rejecting the taste of water from malady.

‫ِّ ُّ ل‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ي‬

َ ‫و‬ْ َ ‫س ْعيـًـا َّوف‬

Sa'yan wa fawqa
mutūnil aynuqir rusumi
1.O best of those whose front yard is sought by those seeking
good, Wa man huwal Āyatul
On foot and on backs of camels treading vigorously! Kubrā li mu'tabirin

‫ــو اآليـ َ ل ا ْل لُ ْب َرى ِّل لم ْعت َ ِّبـر‬


َ ‫َو َم ْن له‬
Wa man huwan
Ni'matul 'Udhmā li

‫الن ْع َمــ ل ا ْلعل ْظ ٰمى ِّل لم ْغت َ ِّن ِّم‬


mughtanimi
ِّ ‫ـو‬ َ ‫َو َم ْن له‬
2.And you who are sign supreme for one who does seek to know!
And greatest blessing for one in search of prosperity!
‫اج ِه ﷺ‬

Kamā saral badru fī
‫ظلَ ِّم‬ُّ ‫ـرى ا ْلبَ ْد لر ِّف ْي دَاج ِّم َن ال‬ َ ‫َُ َما‬
َ ‫س‬ dājin minadh
dhulami
3.From sanctum to sanctum you had made the trip overnight;
Just as the moon makes the trip through darkness nocturnally.
Wa bitta tarqā ilā an
ً ‫لى أ َ ْن نِّ ْلـتَ َم ْن ِّزلَــ‬ ٰ
ٰ ِِّ ‫َو ِّبتَّ ت َ ْرقى‬ nilta manzilatan
Min qābi qawsayni

‫سـ ْي ِّن لَ ْم ت ل ْد َر ْك َولَم ت َل‬


‫ـر ِّم‬ ‫و‬ َ ‫ق‬ ‫اب‬ َ
َ ْ َ ‫ِّم ْن ق‬
lam tudrak wa lam
turami
4.You spent the night rising up until you had reached a place
A length of two bows, not gained or sought in all history.
‫اج ِه ﷺ‬

َ ‫وق‬

َّ ‫ـ‬َ Wa qaddamatka
jamī'ul Anbiyā-i bihā

ٰ ‫سـ ِّل ت َ ْلْق ِّد ْي َم َم ْخـد ْلوم ع‬


War Rusli taqdīma
‫َلى َخـ َد ِّم‬ ْ ‫الر‬ُّ ‫َو‬ makhdūmin 'alā
5.And all the prophets and messengers had put you ahead, khadami
Just as the served over servants has the priority.

‫اق ِّب ِِّ ْم‬


َ َ‫الَب‬
ِّ َِ ‫ســ ْب‬َّ ‫ال‬ ‫ق‬
‫ل‬ ‫ر‬ِّ َ ‫ت‬ ْ
‫خ‬ َ ‫ت‬ َ‫ت‬ ْ
‫ن‬ َ ‫َوأ‬
Wa Anta takhtariqus
sab'aţ ţibāqa bihim

‫ب ا ْلعَـلَ ِّم‬ َ ‫فِّ ْي َم ْو ُِّب لُ ْنتَ فِّ ْيـ ِّه‬


Fī mawkibin Kunta fīhi
َ ‫اح‬
ِّ ‫ص‬ Şāhibal 'Alami
6.As you proceeded through all the seven levels with them,
In a procession, you were the banner bearer to see;
‫اج ِه ﷺ‬

‫ســت ِّبق‬ ‫م‬ ‫ل‬

‫د‬ َ ‫ت‬ ‫م‬ َ
ْ ِِّ ‫تى‬
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬‫ذ‬َ ّٰ ‫َح‬ Ĥattā idhā lam tada'
sha-wan li mustabiqin
‫ســت َ ِّن ِّم‬ْ ‫قى ِّل لم‬
ً ‫ر‬ْ ‫م‬
َ ‫ال‬ ‫و‬
َ ‫و‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫د‬ ُّ ‫الـــ‬ َ
‫ن‬ ‫م‬
ِّ Minad dunuwwi wa lā
marqan li mustanimi
7.Until you had left no goal for the ambitious in hope
Of closeness, nor height for someone seeking ascendency.
Khafađta kulla
ْ‫َـافَ ِّ ِِّذ‬ َ ‫اإل‬ ِّ ‫ب‬
ِّ ‫م‬ ‫ام‬ َ ‫لْق‬‫م‬َ ‫ل‬
َّ ‫ــ‬ُ‫ل‬ َ‫ت‬ ْ
َ َ ‫ف‬ َ
‫خ‬ maqāmin bil iđāfati idh
Nūdīta bir raf'i mithlal
‫الـر ْف ِِّ ِّمثْ َل ا ْل لم ْف َر ِّد ا ْلعَــلَ ِّم‬
َّ ‫نل ْو ِّد ْيتَ ِّب‬ mufradil 'alami
8.You humbled all ranks by annexation: you were addressed,
Like unannexed proper noun, with singular dignity.
‫اج ِه ﷺ‬
ِ ‫سابِ ُع فِي إِ ْس َرائِ ِه َو ِم ْع َر‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Seven: The Prophet’s Miraculous Night Journey and Celestial Ascension
َّ ‫ص ُل ال‬
Kaymā tafūza bi waşlin
‫ســت َ ِّت ِّر‬ ْ ‫صــل أي ِّ لم‬ْ ‫َُ ْي َما تَفل ْو َز ِّب َو‬ ayyi mustatirin
'Anil 'uyūni wa sirrin
‫ســـر أي ِّ لم ُْت َ ِّت ِّم‬ ْ ‫ع َِّن ا ْلعليل‬
ِّ ‫ــو ِّن َو‬ ayyi muktatami
9.So that you triumph with a connection oh so concealed
Fa ĥuzta kulla fakhārin
From eyes, and a secret oh so shrouded in mystery!
ghayra mushtarakin
‫شـت َ َرك‬ َ ‫فَ لح ْزتَ لُــ َّل فَ َخار‬
ْ ‫غ ْي َر لم‬ Wa juzta kulla maqāmin
ghayra muzdaĥami
َ ‫َو لج ْزتَ لُــ َّل َملْقَــام‬
‫غ ْي َر لم ْز َد َح ِّم‬
10.So you obtained every glory, no one else joining you;
And you surpassed all alone, unchallenged, every degree.

Wa jalla miqdāru wā
‫ِّم ْن ُّرتَب‬ َ‫َار َمـا لو ِّل ْيت‬ ‫د‬‫ـ‬ ْ
‫َو َجـ َّل ِّم ل‬
‫لْق‬ wullīta min rutabin
Wa 'azza idrāku mā
ِّ َ‫ِّم ْن ِّنع‬
‫ــم‬ َ‫اك َمــا أ ل ْو ِّل ْيت‬
‫َوع ََّز ِِّ ْد َر ل‬ ūlīta min ni'ami
11.The measure of stations you were granted, what majesty!
Attaining the blessings you were given, what rarity! Bushrā lanā ma'sharal
Islāmi inna lanā
‫ـالم ِِّ َّن لَنَا‬ ِّ ‫س‬ْ ‫اإل‬ ‫َـر‬
ِّ َ ‫ش‬ ‫ع‬
ْ ‫م‬
َ ‫ا‬َ ‫ن‬َ ‫ش ٰـرى ل‬ ْ ‫بل‬ Minal 'ināyati ruknan
ghayra munhadimi
َ ً ‫ِّم َن ا ْل ِّعنَايَـ ِّ لر ُْنــا‬
‫غ ْي َر لم ْن َِــ ِّد ِّم‬
12.Great news for us, people of Islam! Indeed, we possess
A pillar of special care erected unbreakably.

13.And since Allah called the one who called us to serving umami
Him
The Greatest Prophet, we are the greatest community.

Kanab-atin ajfalat

‫غ ْفــالً ِّم َن ا ْلغَنَ ِّـم‬ ‫َُنَ ْبـََة أ َ ْجفَلَ ْت ل‬ ghuflan minal

1.The gentlest of souls until the enemy forced the fight,
Abusing him and all his companions so brutally. Mā zāla yalqāhumu fī

‫ـل لم ْعت َ َرك‬ ‫ل‬

ِّ ‫م‬
‫ل‬ ‫ل‬
‫ه‬ ‫ــا‬ َ ‫لْق‬‫ل‬ْ َ ‫ي‬ ‫ل‬
َ ‫ا‬‫ز‬َ ‫َمـا‬ kulli mu'tarakin
Ĥattā ĥakaw bil qanā

ٰ ‫تى َح َُ ْوا ِّبا ْللْقَنَـا لَ ْح َما ع‬


laĥman 'alā wađami
َ ‫َلى َو‬
‫َ ِّـم‬ ّٰ َ‫ح‬
2.Their only crime being that they called to God, Him alone;
An invitation delivered by them all peacefully.

Waddul firāra fa kādū

َ َ ‫َود ُّْوا ا‬
‫ل‬ yaghbiţūna bihi
Ashlā-a shālat ma'al

‫الر ََ ِم‬
َّ ‫و‬َ ‫ـان‬
ِ ‫ب‬ ْ
‫ق‬ ‫ع‬‫ل‬
َ ُ َ َْ ‫ا‬ ‫ع‬ ‫م‬ ْ‫ت‬ َ ‫ل‬‫َـا‬ ‫ش‬ ‫ء‬
َ ‫ْـال‬
‫ش‬ َ ‫أ‬ 'iqbāni war rakhami

3. They longed to flee so much that they watched the parts Tamđil layālī wa lā
carried off
By buzzards and vultures in a state of near jealousy.. yadrūna 'iddatahā
Mā lam takun min

‫ت َ ْم ِضي اللَّيـَا ِل ْي َوال يَ ْد ُر ْو َن ِع َّدت َ َهـا‬ layālil ash-huril

4.The nights would pass with them unaware the number of them,
Except the nights of the Sacred Months of tranquility.

َ ‫َكأ‬‫ن‬َ đayfun ĥalla

‫ِبك ُِل قَ ْر ٍم ِإلَى لَ ْح ِم ال ِعدَا قَ ِر ِم‬ Bi kulli qarmin ilā


laĥmil 'idā qarimi
5.As if religion had been a guest arrived at their yard,
With every nobleman craving meat of the enemy.
Yajurru baĥra
‫ســا ِب َحة‬ ‫ق‬ ‫و‬ َ
َ َ ْ ‫ـر ََ ِم ْي ٍس ف‬ َ ‫ـر بَ ْح‬ ُّ ‫يَ ُج‬ khamīsin fawqa
sābiĥatin
ِ َ ‫يَ ْـر ِم ْي ِب َم ْوجٍ ِم َن األ َ ْب َطــا ِل ُم ْلت‬
‫ـط ِم‬ Yarmī bi mawjin
minal abţāli
6. It brought an ocean of troops on gracefully-floating
steeds, multaţimi
Advancing waves made of heroes, surging successively.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Min kulli muntadibin
‫سـب‬ِّ َ ‫لل لم ْحت‬ ِّ ‫ــل لم ْنـت َ ِّدب‬
ِّ ‫ل‬
ُ ‫ن‬ْ ‫ِّم‬ liLlāhi muĥtasibin
Yasţū bi musta-şilin
َ
‫صَـ ِّل ِّم‬ ْ ْ
ْ ‫سـتََ ِّصل ِّللُف ِّر لم‬
‫ل‬ ْ ‫سـ ل‬
ْ ‫َ ْو ِّب لم‬ ْ َ‫ي‬ lil kufri muşţalimi
7.Each in response to the call of God, in hope of reward,
Attacking armed to uproot and shatter idolatry. Ĥatta ghadat Millatul
Islāmi wa hya bihim
‫ي ِّب ِِّـ ْم‬ ْ
‫ه‬
َ َ ِّ ‫و‬ ‫الم‬ ‫س‬
ْ ‫اإل‬
ِّ ‫ل‬ َّ ‫ل‬ ‫م‬
ِّ ْ
‫َت‬‫د‬‫غ‬َ ‫تى‬
ّٰ َ‫ح‬ Min ba'di ghurbatihā
mawşūlatar rahimi
َ َ
َّ ‫ص ْول‬
‫الر ِّح ِّـم‬ ‫ل‬
‫ِّم ْن بَ ْعــ ِّد غ ْربَ ِّت َِا َم ْو ل‬
‫م‬
8.Until the Faith of Islam, with them among it, became—
Once having been foreign—now a unified family.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Makfūlatan abadan
‫َم ُْفل ْولَـ ً أَبَـدا ً ِّم ْن لِـ ْم ِّبـ َخ ْي ِّر أَب‬ minhum bi khayri
abin
‫َو َخ ْي ِّر بَ ْعـل فَــلَ ْم ت َ ْيتَـ ْم َولَ ْم ت َ ِّئ ِّـم‬ Wa khayri ba'lin fa
lam taytam wa lam ta-
9.Protected forever from them by the best father and
Best husband, so not an orphan or a widow is she. imi

‫صا ِّد َم لِم‬َ ‫ع ْن لِ ْم ُّم‬


َ ‫سـ ْل‬ َ
َ ‫ له لم ا ْل ِّجبَـا لل ف‬Humul jibālu fa sal

‫ص ََد َِّم‬ ْ ‫ـل لم‬ِّ ْ‫ل‬


ُ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬
ِّ ‫م‬
ْ ِ
‫ل‬ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫م‬ ِّ ‫ي‬
ْ ‫لْق‬
ِّ َ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬‫ذ‬َ ‫ــا‬‫م‬َ
'anhum
muşādimahum
10.They are the mountains, so ask about them their battle-foe, Ma dhā ra-ā minhumu
At every battle, the things from them that he used to see. fī kulli muşţadami

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Wa sal Ĥunaynan

‫س ْل أ ل لح ًدا‬َ ‫سـ ْل بَ ْدرا ً َو‬ َ ‫سـ ْل لحنَ ْينا ً َو‬


wa sal Badran wa
َ ‫َو‬ sal Uhudan

‫ص ْـو لل َحتْف لَّ لِ ْم أ َ ْد ٰهى ِّم َن ا ْل َو َخ ِّم‬ ‫ل‬


Fuşūla ĥatfin
‫ف ل‬ lahum ad-hā minal
wakhami
11.And ask Hunayn, question Badr, and even ask Uhud, too—
Events of death for them, worse than plague in catastrophe.
Almuşdiril bīđi
ْ ‫ض ل ْ بَ ْع َد َما َو َرد‬
‫َت‬ ْ ‫ا َ ْل لم‬
ِّ ‫ص ِّد ِّري ا ْل ِّب ْي‬
‫حمرا ًم‬ ĥumran ba'da mā
waradat

ِّ ‫س َود ِّم َن‬


‫الل َم ِّـم‬ ْ ‫ِّم َن ا ْل ِّعــدَا لُ َّل لم‬ Minal 'idā kulla
muswaddin minal
12.Returning white blades now turned to crimson after they reached limami
The fighters with flowing hair of black from the enemy.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Wal kātibīna bi sumril

ْ ‫س‬ ‫َوا ْل َُا ِّت ِّب ْي َن ِّب ل‬
khaţţi mā tarakat
Aqlāmuhum ĥarfa
َ ‫سم‬
‫غ ْي َر لم ْنعَ ِّج ِّم‬ ْ ‫ف ِّج‬ ‫ر‬
َ ْ ْ ‫ل‬ ‫ح‬
َ ‫م‬ ِ
‫ل‬ ‫م‬ ‫ــال‬ ْ
‫أق‬ jismin ghayra
mun'ajimi
13.Inscribing with spears of Lettering, their pens didn’t leave
A body line with undotted i, and crossed every t.
Shākis silāĥi lahum
ِّ ‫السـالحِّ لَ لِ ْم‬
‫س ْيما َ ت ل َم ِّي لز له ْم‬ ِّ ‫شَـا ُِّي‬ sīmā tumayyizuhum
Wal wardu yamtāzu
‫سـلَ ِّم‬
َّ ‫الس ْيما َ ع َِّن ال‬
ِّ ‫ـاز ِّب‬‫َوا ْل َو ْر لد يَ ْمت َ ل‬ bis sīmā 'anis salami
14.With sharpened weapons they had a mark to set them apart;
A rose is set by its mark apart from a thorny tree.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Tuhdī ilayka riyāĥun

‫ش‬ َ ‫ن‬ ‫ر‬ ِّ ‫ص‬
ْ َّ ‫ن‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ح‬
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬َ ‫ي‬ ‫ر‬
ِّ َ
‫ـك‬ ‫ي‬
ْ َ ‫ت ل ِْ ِّدي ِِّل‬
naşri nashrahumu
Fa taĥsabuz zahra fil

‫الز ْه َر ِّفي األ َ ُْ َم ِّام لُ َّل َُ ِّم ْی‬ َّ ‫ب‬ ِّ ‫فت َ ْح‬
akmāmi kulla kamī

15.The victory winds convey to you the sweet news of them;


‫س ل‬ Ka annahum fī
So flowers in bloom you’d reckon every soldier to be. dhuhūril khayli nabtu

ً ‫ت لربـا‬ ‫َُــََنَّ لِ ْم ِّف ْي ل‬


‫ظ لِ ْو ِّر ا ْل َخ ْي ِّل نَ ْب ل‬
ruban
Min shiddatil ĥazmi lā

‫شـ َّد ِّة ا ْل لح لز ِّم‬


ِّ ‫ِّم ْن شَـ َّد ِّة ا ْل َح ْز ِّم ال ِّم ْن‬
min shiddatil ĥuzumi

16.They were in horseback like firmly-rooted plants up on hills—


From grit so solid, not girth of saddle held solidly.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Tārat qulūbul 'idā min

ِّ ْ ََ ‫ب‬ ‫م‬ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫م‬ِّ ‫َا‬
‫د‬ ‫ع‬ِّ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ب‬‫ل‬ ‫و‬ ْ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ق‬ ‫ت‬ْ ‫ار‬َ َ
َ ba-sihim faraqan
Fa mā tufarriqu
‫ق بَ ْي َن ا ْلبَ ِْ ِّـم َوا ْلبل َِ ِّـم‬ ‫ِّ ل‬‫ر‬َ ‫ف‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـا‬ ‫م‬َ
َ‫ف‬ baynal bahmi wal
buhami
17.The enemies’ hearts were fluttering in fear of their force,
Unable to tell a lamb apart from brave cavalry.

ْ َ‫هللا ن‬
Wa man takun bi
‫ص َرتلهل‬ ِّ ‫سو ِّل‬ ‫َو َم ْن ت َ لُ ْن ِّب َر ل‬ RasūliLlāhi
nuşratuhu
‫ام َِا ت َ ِّج ِّم‬
ِّ َ ‫ج‬ ‫آ‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫د‬
‫ل‬ ‫س‬ ‫ل‬
ِّ ْ ‫ِِّ ْن ت َ ْللْقَهل األ‬ In talqahul usdu fī
ājāmihā tajimi
18.Whoever is aided by the Messenger of Allah,
If lions meet him inside their woods, they bow silently.
‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Eight: The Prophet’s Jihad
ِ َّ ‫ص ُل الث‬ Wa lan tarā min

‫غ ْي َر لم ْنت َ ِّصـر‬ َ ‫ــرى ِّم ْن َّو ِّلي‬


ٰ َ ‫َولَ ْن ت‬ waliyyin ghayri
muntaşirin
‫غ ْي َر لم ْنلْقَ ِّص ِّم‬َ ‫ِّبــ ِّه َوال ِّم ْن عَــدلو‬ bihi wa lā min 'aduwwin
ghayri munqasimi
19.You will not see any saint that isn’t victorious
Through him, nor any opponent not destroyed utterly.
Aĥalla ummatahu fī
‫أ َ َحــ َّل أ ل َّمتَـهل ِّف ْي ِّح ْـر ِّز ِّملَّ ِّتــ ِّه‬ ĥirzi millatihi
Kal laythi ĥalla ma'al
‫شـبَا ِّل ِّف ْي أ َ َج ِّم‬ ْ ‫ث َح َّل َم َِ األ‬ ِّ ‫َُاللَّ ْي‬ ashbāli fī ajami
20.He put his nation to dwell inside the fort of his faith;
Like lion dwelling inside the forest with progeny.

‫ام ُن ِفي ِج َها ِد النَّ ِبي ِ ﷺ‬
Kam jaddalat

‫هللا ِّم ْن َجدَل‬


ِّ ‫ات‬ ‫َُـ ْم َج َّدلَ ْت َُـ ِّل َم ل‬ KalimātuLlāhi min
jadilin

‫ص َم ا ْلبل ْر َه ل‬
‫ان ِّم ْن َخ ِّص ِّم‬ َّ ‫ِّف ْي ِّه َو َُـ ْم َخ‬
Fīhi wa kam khaşamal
burhānu min khaşimi
21.How often the words of God refuted the quarrelsome
About him! How often proof defeated the enemy! Kafāka bil 'ilmi fil
ً‫ــاك ِّبـا ْلعَلَ ِّم ِّف ْي األ ل ِّمي ِّ لم ْع َج َزة‬
َ َ‫َُف‬ Ummiyyi mu'jizatan
Fil jāhiliyyati wat ta-

‫ب ِّفي ا ْليلت ل ِّم‬ ‫ي‬ ‫د‬ِّ ْ


َ ْ َ‫ِّف ْي ا ْل َجا ِّهـ ِّليَّ ِّ َوالت َّــ‬
dībi fil Yutumi

22.Enlightenment in the one unread is wonder enough,


In Age of Darkness; and good upbringing in orphancy.
‫سو ِل هللاِ ﷺ‬
ُ ‫س ِل بِ َر‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Nine: Seeking Intercession through the Prophet
ُّ ‫ص ُل التَّا ِس ُع فِي ت َ َو‬
Khadamtuhu bi
‫ســت َ ِّلْقي لل ِّبـ ِّه‬ َ
ْ ‫َخد َْمتلهل ِّب َم ِّد ْيــح أ‬ madīĥin astaqīlu bihi
Dhunūba 'umrin
‫الش ْع ِّر َوا ْل ِّخ َد ِّم‬
ِّ ‫َى فِّي‬ ٰ ‫ع ْمر َّم‬ ‫ب ل‬ ‫ل‬
َ ْ ‫ذ‬
‫و‬ ‫ن‬‫ل‬ mađā fish shi'ri wal
khidami
1.I’ve served him with eulogy by which I seek to erase
The sins of life spent in poem and in servility.
Idh qalladāniya mā
‫عـَوا ِّقبلـهل‬ َ ‫ي َما ت ل ْخ ٰشـى‬ َ ِّ ‫ن‬ ‫َا‬
‫د‬ َّ ‫ل‬ ‫ـ‬َ ‫ق‬ ْ
‫ذ‬ ِِّ tukhshā 'awāqibuhu

‫َُــََنَّ ِّن ْي ِّب ِِّــ َما َه ْدي ِّم َن النَّعَ ِّم‬


Ka annanī bihimā
hadyun minan
2.For they have led me to things of horrible aftermath; na'ami
Akin to livestock decreed by them for the butchery.
‫سو ِل هللاِ ﷺ‬
ُ ‫س ِل بِ َر‬ ْ َ‫ ْالف‬Chapter Nine: Seeking Intercession through the Prophet
ُّ ‫ص ُل التَّا ِس ُع فِي ت َ َو‬
Aţa'tu ghayyaş şibā

‫الصبَا ِّفي ا ْل َحالَت َ ْي ِّن َو َمــا‬


ِّ َّ ‫ي‬ َ
‫غ‬ ‫ت‬‫ل‬ ‫ع‬ َ
ْ ‫أ‬
َ َ fil ĥālatayni wa mā
Ĥaşaltu illā 'alal

‫ـام َوالنَّـد َِّم‬


ِّ َ ‫ث‬ ‫اآل‬ ‫َلى‬
ٰ ‫ع‬ ‫ال‬ ِ
ِّ ‫ص‬
‫ت‬
‫ل‬ ْ
‫ل‬ َ ‫َح‬ āthāmi wan nadami

3.I have obeyed the deceit of youth in both cases and Fa yā khasārata
Got nothing but sins and then regret, oh, what misery!
nafsin fī tijāratihā
‫ار ِّت َِـا‬ ‫ج‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ي‬
َ َ ِّ ْ ِّ ‫ف‬ ‫س‬ ْ
‫ف‬ َ ‫ن‬ َ ‫ة‬‫ــار‬ ‫س‬
َ َ َ

bid dunyā wal lam
‫الد ْي َن ِّبـال ُّد ْنيَا َولَ ْم ت َ ل‬
‫س ِّـم‬ ِّ ‫شت َ ِّر‬
4.Oh, what a loss for my soul, the awful deal that it made!
ْ َ ‫لَ ْم ت‬ tasumi

Not buying faith with this world, not even browsing to see.
‫سو ِل هللاِ ﷺ‬

Wa man yabi' ājilan
‫اج ِّلـ ِّه‬ َ ‫ع‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ه‬ ْ
ِّ ِّ ‫آجـالً ِّم‬
‫ن‬ ِّ ِ‫ــ‬ْ ‫َو َم ْن يَّ ِّب‬ minhu bi 'ājilihi
Yabin lahul ghabnu fī
‫سـلَ ِّم‬ َ ‫يَ ِّب ْن لَّـهل ا ْلغَ ْب لن ِّف ْي بَ ْيـِ َّو ِّف ْي‬
5.Whoever sells off his future for his present will come
bay'in wa fī salami

To see the loss in his sale and future delivery. In āti dhanban fa mā
'ahdī bi muntaqiđin
‫ع ِْ ِّدي ِّب لم ْنت َ ِّلْقض‬َ ‫ت َذ ْنبـا ً فَ َمــا‬ ِّ ‫ِِّ ْن آ‬ Minan Nabiyyi wa lā
ĥablī bi munşarimi
‫ـــر ِّم‬
ِّ ‫ص‬َ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫ِّم َن النَّ ِّبي ِّ َوال َح ْبـ ِّلي ِّب لم‬
6.If I engage in a sin, my covenant isn’t void
With him, the Prophet; nor is the rope dissevered from me.
‫سو ِل هللاِ ﷺ‬

Muĥammadan wa hwa

ْ َ ‫أ‬ ‫و‬

awfāl khalqi bidh
dhimami
7.By naming my son Muhammad I am in pledge to him;
And none is more faithful in fulfilling pledges than he. In lam yakun fī ma'ādī
‫آخذا ً ِّبيَ ِّد ْي‬ِّ ‫ـن ِّف ْي َمعَـا ِّدي‬ ْ ُ‫ِِّ ْن لَّ ْم يَ ل‬ ākhidhan bi yadī
Fađlan wa illā fa qul
َ ْ َ
‫َالً َّو ِِّال فَلْقلــ ْل يَــا َزلَّ اللْقد َِّم‬
ْ َ‫ف‬ yā zallatal qadami
8.At my appointment, if he’s not holding onto my hand—
In graciousness—say, “Oh, what a fall into tragedy!”

ِّ َّ َ ِّ َّ ‫َحاشَــاُل أ‬
‫الر‬ ‫م‬ rājī makārimahu
Aw yarji'al jāru minhu
َ ‫ــار ِّم ْنهل‬
‫غ ْي َر لم ْحـت َ َر ِّم‬ ْ
‫أ ْ َ ْ ِّ َ َ ل‬
‫ج‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ِ‫ج‬ ‫ر‬‫ي‬ ‫و‬َ ghayra muĥtarami
9.Far be it from him to bar the aspirant of his gifts,
Or send away in dishonor from him a refugee. Wa mundhu alzamtu
afkārī madā-iĥahu
‫ـــار ْي َمدَا ِّئ َحهل‬ ِّ َ

‫أف‬ ‫ت‬
‫ل‬ ‫م‬
ْ َ
‫ز‬ ْ
‫ل‬ َ ‫أ‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ذ‬‫ن‬ْ ‫َو لم‬ Wajadtuhu li khalāşī

‫الص ْي َخــ ْي َر لم ْلت َ ِّـز ِّم‬


khayra multazimi
ِّ ‫َو َج ْدتُّـهل ِّل َخ‬
10.And since committing my thoughts to singing praises of him,
I’ve found him to be the most committed to saving me.

Innal ĥayā yunbitul
‫ار ِّفي األ َ َُ ِّـم‬
َ َ

‫ز‬ َ ‫أل‬‫ا‬ ‫ت‬
‫ل‬ ‫ب‬
ِّ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ـا‬َ ‫ي‬ ‫ح‬

‫ل‬ ‫ِِّ َّن ا‬ azhāra fil akami
11.The riches from him will not neglect a poor, dusty hand;
Indeed, the rain causes even hills to be flowery. Wa lam urid zahratad
dunyal lati qtaţafat
‫َولَ ْم أ ل ِّر ْد َز ْه َرةَ ال ُّد ْنيـَا الَّ ِّتي ْاقت َ ََفَ ْت‬ Yadā zuhayrin bimā

ٰ
‫يَــدَا لز َه ْيرم ِّب َمـا أثْنى عَلى ه ِّـر ِّم‬
َ
athnā 'alā harimi

12.I sought no bloom of the lower world the hands of Zuhayr


Had picked for having presented Herim with flattery.

ُ ‫أ‬ ‫ـا‬ َ ‫ي‬ lī man alūdhu bihi

‫ث ا ْلعَ َم ِّم‬
ِّ ‫اك ِّع ْنـ َد لحلل ْو ِّل ا ْل َحا ِّد‬ َ ‫ـو‬ Siwāka 'inda ĥulūlil

1.Most Noble of All Creation, what refuge do I have


َ ‫س‬ ِّ ĥādithil 'amimi

But you at the coming of the global emergency? Wa lan yađīqa

‫هللا َجا له َك ِّب ْي‬ ِّ ‫س ْـو َل‬‫ق َر ل‬ َ ‫َولَ ْن يَّ َِّ ْي‬ RasūlaLlāhi Jāhuka

ْ ‫ِِّ َذا ا ْل َُ ِّر ْي لم ت َ َجلَّى ِّبــا‬


‫س ِّم لم ْنت َ ِّلْق ِّـم‬ Idhal-Karīmu tajjalā
bismi Muntaqimi
2.O Messenger of Allah, your rank won’t shrink from me when
The Generous manifests His punishing quality.
ِ ‫ض ْال َحا َجا‬

Fa inna min Jūdikad

‫علل ْو ِّم َك ِّع ْل لم اللَّ ْوحِّ َوا ْللْقَلَ ِّم‬


‫َو ِّم ْن ل‬
Wa min 'Ulūmika 'ilmal
Lawĥi wal Qalami
3.Yes, from your grace is indeed the world as well as its mate;
And of your knowledge the Tablet and the Pen of decree. Yā nafsu lā taqnaţī

‫ظ َم ْت‬ ‫ع ل‬ َ َّ‫ـس ال ت َ ْلْقنَ َِّي ِّم ْن َزل‬ ‫ف‬ْ


‫يَا نَ ل‬
min zallatin 'adhumat
Innal kabā-ira fil
‫ان َُـاللَّ َم ِّـم‬
ِّ ‫ر‬
َ ْ
‫ف‬ ‫ل‬ ‫غ‬‫ل‬ْ ‫ا‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬
ِّ ‫ر‬َ ‫ئ‬
ِّ ‫ـا‬َ ‫ب‬ َ
ُ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ِِّ َّن ا‬ ghufrāni kal lamami

4.O soul, despair not because of a mistake that is grave;


Enormities are like slips compared to His clemency.

Rabbī ĥīna

َ ‫صيا ِّن فِّي ال ِّلْق‬ ْ
ْ ‫ب ال ِّع‬ِّ ‫س‬ ْ
َ ‫تََتِّ ْي عَلى َح‬
yaqsimuhā
Ta-tī 'alā ĥasabil
5.I hope, the mercy of my Lord, when distributed, would be
'işyāni fil qisami
distributed in proportion (according) to the sins.
Yā Rabbi waj'al
‫غ ْي َر لم ْنعَ ُِّس‬ َ ‫اجعَ ْل َر َجا ِّئ ْي‬
ْ ‫ب َو‬ِّ ‫يَا َر‬ rajā-ī ghayra

َ ‫سا ِّب ْي‬


‫غ ْي َر لم ْن َخ ِّر ِّم‬ َ ‫اجعَ ْل ِّح‬
ْ ‫ـك َو‬َ ‫لَ َد ْي‬
mun'akisin
Ladayka waj'al
6.O my Lord! Make my hopes fulfilled by You and make not my ĥisābī ghayra
accounting (calculation of deeds) destructive. munkharimi

dārayni inna lahu

َ ‫عه األه‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ص ْبرا ً َّمتى تـد ل‬
ْ َ ٰ َ Şabran matā tad'uhul
ahwālu yanhazimi
7.Be kind to Your slave in both abodes; for his fortitude
Whenever terrors call out to it will turn tail and flee.
Wa-dhan li suĥbi
‫صالَة ِّم ْن َك دَا ِّئ َم‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ح‬
َ ِّ ْ ‫َوأ ِّ ل‬ ‫س‬ ‫ل‬ ْ
‫ن‬ َ
‫ذ‬ ْ şalātin minka dā-imatin
'Alan Nabiyyi bi

‫س ِّج ِّم‬ َ munhallin wa
munsajimi
8.Let clouds of blessing from You, unending, rain down upon
The Prophet, with pouring rain so heavily, steadily..

Wa aţrabal 'īsa ĥādil
9.For longer than willow branches by the east wind are swayed; 'īsi bin naghami
And camel drivers excite the camels with melody. Thummar Ridhā 'an

'an 'Uthmāna Dhil
10. Then pleasure with Abu Bakr, the greatest of company,
And Umar, bearer of Truth, and then Uthman, and Ali, Karami

Ahlut Tuqā wan Naqā
11.The Family and Companions and all the Followers, wal Ĥilmi wal Karami
The people of purity and patience and piety.

‫اص َدنَا‬
ِّ ََ ‫لْق‬ ‫م‬ ْ
‫غ‬ ‫ل‬
ِّ َ ‫ب‬ ‫ى‬َ ‫ف‬ َ
َ ‫ص‬
ْ ‫ب ِّبال لم‬
ِّ ‫يا َر‬
Yā rabbi bil muṣṭafā
balligh maqāṣidanā
‫س َِ ال َُ َر ِّم‬ ِّ ‫َى يَا َوا‬ َ ‫َوا ْغ ِّف ْر لَنَا َما َم‬ Waghfir lanā mā
maḍā yā wāsiʿal
12.My Lord, by the Chosen One, make our hopes come to be,
And pardon us what has gone, O Vast in Gen’rosity. karami
ِ ‫ض ْال َحا َجا‬
‫ت‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالعَا ِش ُر فِي ْال ُمنَا َجاةِ َو َع ْر‬

َ ‫س ِّج ِّد األ َ ْق‬ َ ‫يَتْلل‬


tad'uhul ahwālu
‫صى َو ِّفي ال َح َر ِّم‬ ْ ‫ون ِّفي ال َم‬ yanhazimi
13. And please, my God, do forgive all of the Muslims by what
They all recite at the Holy Mosque and the Sanctity. Bi Jāhi man baytuhu

‫ِّب َجا ُِّ َم ْن بَ ْيتَهل ِّفي ََ ْيبَ َح َرم‬


fī Ţaybatin Ĥaramun
Wasmuhu qasamun

‫س ِّم‬
َ َ ‫لْق‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫م‬
ِّ َ
‫ظ‬ ْ
‫ع‬ َ ‫أ‬ ْ
‫ن‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫س‬َ
ِّ َ ‫س لمهل ق‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
min a'dhamil
qasami
14. By the prestige of him who the Goodly Land is his home;
Whose very name is an oath of greatest immensity.
ِ ‫ض ْال َحا َجا‬
‫ت‬ ِ ‫ص ُل ْالعَا ِش ُر فِي ْال ُمنَا َجاةِ َو َع ْر‬

Wa hādhihi Burdatul
Mukhtāri qad

‫لل فِّي بَ ْد ِ َوفِّي َخت َ ِّم‬ ِّ ‫َوال َح ْم لد‬ Walĥamdu liLlāhi fī
bad-in wa fī khatami
15. This is the Burdah of the Selected One, now complete;
And praise Allah at the start and finish, eternally!

ِّ ‫ت‬ْ َ ‫ت‬َ ‫أ‬ ْ

ْ َ Abyātuhā qad atat
sittīna ma' mi-atin
Farrij bihā karbanā Yā
‫س َِ ا ْل َُ َر ِّم‬ ‫ا‬ َ
ِّ َ َ َ ْ َ ِّ ِّ ‫ف‬
‫ا‬‫و‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ر‬ َ
ُ ‫ا‬ِ ‫ب‬ ْ‫ج‬ ‫ر‬ َ Wāsi'al-Karami
16. The number of verses in it is one sixty or more;
Relieve by them our woes, O Vast in Gen’rosity!
‫فرج بها كربنا‬ Farrij bihā karbanā
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

‫ياواسع الكرم‬ Unsur bi ha


Deen’na’na
Relieve by them our woes, Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
O Vast in Gen’rosity!]
‫انصر بها دينانا‬
‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Help us by it in our religion,
o abundant in generosity
‫اجمع بها شملنا‬ Ij’ma bi’ha Shamlana
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫ياواسع الكرم‬ At’im bi’ha jo’una
Unite by it our assembly,
o abundant in generosity Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

‫أطعم بها جوعانا‬


‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Feed by it our hungry,
o abundant in generosity
‫ اكسي بها عريانا‬Iksi bi’ha Aur-Ya-Na
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Relieve our grief by it,
Adfi bi’ha Bardana
o abundant in generosity
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

‫أدفئ بها بردانا‬


‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Warm by it our cold ones,
o abundant in generosity
‫اَزي بها عدونا‬ Ikh’zi bi’ha A’duwana
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

‫ ياواسع الكرم‬Baddid bi’ha


Humiliate by it our enemy, Shamlana
o abundant in generosity Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫بدد بها شملهم‬
‫الكرم‬ ‫ياواسع‬
Scatter by it their group,
o abundant in generosity
‫فرق بها جمعهم‬ Fariq bi’ha Jam’ahum
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫ ياواسع الكرم‬A’nis bi’ha
Disunite by it their unity, Waqtana
o abundant in generosity Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫آنس بها وقتنا‬
‫الكرم‬ ‫ياواسع‬
Grant us by it comfort in our time, o
abundant in generosity
‫ألطف بها ربنا‬ Ul-tuf bi’ha
Rab’bana
‫ياواسع الكرم‬ Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

Treat us with gentle care by it our


Lord, o abundant in generosity Nawir bi’ha
‫نور بها شهرنا‬ Sharana

‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Yā Wāsi'al-Karami

Illuminate by it our month,


o abundant in generosity
‫ فرح بها حبنا‬Farirah
Hib’bana
bi’ha

‫ ياواسع الكرم‬Yā Wāsi'al-Karami


Make our beloved rejoice by it, Rowi bi’ha
o abundant in generosity Waqtana
‫ روع بها قلبنا‬Yā Wāsi'al-Karami
‫ياواسع الكرم‬
Calm our heart by it,
o abundant in generosity

Protect our Syria by it,

1.Muhammad - noblest of the Arabs and the non-Arabs
Muhammad - best of all those who walk upon two feet

Muḥammadun bāsiṭu l-maʿrūfi jāmiʿuhu
Muḥammadun ṣāḥibu l-iḥsāni wa l-karami
2.Muhammad - most expansive giver of all good

3. Muhammad - crown of the Messengers of God
without exception
Muhammad - in speech and word the one most true

Muḥammadun thābitu l-mīthāqi hāfiẓuhu
Muḥammadun ṭayyibu l-akhlāqi wa sh-shiyami
4. Muhammad - utterly reliable in keeping trusts
Muhammad - whose character and qualities are
excellent indeed
‫ور َِّينَت لهل‬ ِّ ُّ‫لم َح َّمد لر ِّويَ ْت ِّبالن‬
‫ورا ِّم َن ا ْل ِّلْقد َِّم‬ ً ‫لم َح َّمد لَ ْم يَ َز ْل نل‬
Muḥammadun ruwiyat bi n-nūri ṭīnatuhu
Muḥammadun lam yazal nūran mina l-qidami
5. Muhammad - his substance watered by light
Muhammad - a light still shining from before eternity

‫لم َح َّمد َحا ُِّم ِّبا ْلعَ ْد ِّل ذلو ش ََرف‬


‫اإل ْنعَ ِّام َوا ْل ِّح َُ ِّم‬
ِّْ ‫لم َح َّمد َم ْع ِّد لن‬
Muḥammadun ḥākimun bi l-ʿadli dhū sharafin
Muḥammadun maʿdinu l-inʿāmi wa l-ḥikami
6. Muhammad - fair and wise in judgement, the noble
one,
Muhammad - source of kindness and wisdom

Muḥammadun khayru khalqi Llāhi min Muḍarin
Muḥammadun khayru rusli Llāhi kullihimi
7. Muhammad - finest of God’s creation, who came
from Mudar
Muhammad - of all God’s Messengers the best

‫ق نَ ِّد ل‬
‫ين ِّب ِّه‬ ٌّ ‫لم َح َّمد ِّدينلهل َح‬
‫علَ ِّم‬ َ ‫علَى‬ َ ‫لم َح َّمد لم ْج ِّم ًال َحلْقًا‬
Muḥammadun dīnuhu ḥaqqun nadīnu bihi
Muḥammadun mujmilan ḥaqqan ʿalā ʿalami
8. Muhammad - his creed is true, by it we profess our
faith
Muhammad - eminent, the embodiment of truth
‫سنَا‬ِّ ‫لم َح َّمد ِّذ ُْ لرُل َر ْوح ِّأل َ ْنفل‬
‫علَى ْاأل ل َم ِّم‬ َ ‫ش ُْ لرُل فَ ْرض‬ ‫لم َح َّمد ل‬
Muḥammadun dhikruhu rawḥun li anfusinā
Muḥammadun shukruhu farḍun ʿala l-umami
9. Muhammad - to mention him brings refreshment to
our souls
Muhammad - praising him is a duty upon all peoples

‫لم َح َّمد ِّزينَ ل ال ُّد ْنيَا َوبَ ِْ َجت ل َِا‬


‫ت َوا ْل ل‬
‫ظلَ ِّم‬ ِّ ‫ف ا ْلغل َّما‬
‫ش ل‬ ِّ ‫لم َح َّمد َُا‬
Muḥammadun zīnatu d-dunyā wa bahjatuha
Muḥammadun kāshifu l-ghummāti wa ẓ-ẓulami
10. Muhammad - the beauty of the world and its
splendour
Muhammad - who lifts the veils of darkness and
distress
‫س ِّيد ََابَ ْت َمنَا ِّقبلهل‬
َ ‫لم َح َّمد‬
‫الر ْح ٰم لن ِّبال ِّنعَ ِّم‬ َ ‫صا‬
َّ ‫غهل‬ َ ‫لم َح َّمد‬
Muḥammadun sayyidun ṭābat manāqibuhu
Muḥammadun ṣāghahu r-raḥmānu bi-n-niʿami
11. Muhammad - a master, whose virtues bring delight
Muhammad - the Most Merciful fashioned him from
grace

‫يرتلهل‬ َ ‫ص ْف َوةل ا ْلبَا ِّري َو ِّخ‬


َ ‫لم َح َّمد‬
َ ‫لم َح َّمد ََا ِّهر ِّم ْن‬
‫سائِّ ِّر الت ُّ َِ ِّم‬
Muḥammadun ṣafwatu l-bārī wa khīratuhu
Muḥammadun ṭāhirun min sāi'ri t-tuhami
12. Muhammad - the flower of the Creator and His
elect
Muhammad - pure beyond all suspicion
‫ف لم ُْ ِّر لمهل‬
ِّ ‫َ ْي‬َّ ‫احك ِّلل‬ َ ‫لم َح َّمد‬
ِّ َ
َ ‫هللا لَ ْم يل‬
‫َ ِّم‬ ِّ ‫ارُل َو‬ ‫لم َح َّمد َج ل‬
Muḥammadun ḍāḥikun li-ḍ-ḍayfi mukrimuhu
Muḥammadun jāruhu wa Llāhi lam yuḍami
13. Muhammad - smiling and cheerful with his guest
to honour him,
Muhammad - by God, no neighbour of his was ever
wronged!

‫ت ال ُّد ْنيَا ِّب ِّب ْعث َ ِّت ِّه‬


ِّ َ‫لم َح َّمد ََاب‬
‫ت َوا ْل ِّح َُ ِّم‬ ِّ ‫لم َح َّمد َجا َ ِ ِّب ْاآليَا‬
Muḥammadun ṭābati-d-dunyā bi biʿthatihi
Muḥammadun jā'a bi l-āyāti wa l-ḥikami
14. Muhammad - this world was made delightful by
his being sent
Muhammad - he came with signs and with wisdom
‫اس شَافِّعلنَا‬ ِّ َّ‫ث الن‬
ِّ ‫لم َح َّمد يَ ْو َم بَ ْع‬
ُّ ‫ورُل ا ْل َِا ِّدي ِّم َن ال‬
‫ظلَ ِّم‬ ‫لم َح َّمد نل ل‬
Muḥammadun yawma baʿthi n-nāsi shāfiʿunā
Muḥammadun nūruhu l-hādī mina-ẓ-ẓulami
15. Muhammad - our intercessor on the Day mankind
is resurrected
Muhammad - whose light is the guide out of darkness

‫لِل ذلو ِّه َمم‬ ِّ ّٰ ِّ ‫لم َح َّمد قَا ِّئم‬


‫س ِّل لُ ِّل ِِّ ِّم‬ ُّ ‫لم َح َّمد َخاتَم ِّل‬
ْ ‫لر‬
Muḥammadun qā'imun li-Llāhi dhū himamin
Muḥammadun khātamun li-r-rusli kullihimi
16. Muhammad - dedicated to God, he of the highest
aspiration
Muhammad - the Seal of the Messengers, every one
of them.
