José Abelardo Gutiérrez Alanya, better

known as Tongo y su Grupo Imaginación,

was born on September 24, 1957, in El

Tambo, Peru. He was a Peruvian singer

who became known with chichas songs

such as "La pituca" and "Sufre, peruano,

sufre". From 2010 he made musical

parodies and comic versions in cumbia,

mainly in English, whose interpretation is

characterized by deliberately

mispronouncing the language using the

phonetics of Spanish. All the money he collected from his royalties was invested in his house

in San Miguel. In addition, he used that money to pay for his treatment against diabetes and

also when the COVID-19 was given, he supported the other musicians, so they would have

something to eat. He married Gladys Lupinta in 1983 and had a total of 7 children. Sadly, at

the age of 65, he passed away from complications of chronic renal failure and diabetes at

the Hospital National Arzobispo Loayza - Lima, on March 10, 2023.
