Following diagrams and instructions

Follow the written instructions but consult the diagram as well. Remember – if all else
fails, read the instructions!
Let’s look at the diagrammatic instructions for assembling a chair from Ikea, a popular
furniture supplier overseas. We will write instructions for each of the steps.

A picture of the final assembled chair will be included.

You will need a hammer.

These tools are supplied:

❖15 × screws
❖1 × special tool for tightening the screws
❖1 × other tool

Push the backrest into the holes on the seat.

Turn the seat and backrest over and insert and tighten 3 screws.

Front legs: Use the 2 chair legs that have 2 sets of holes in and insert the two shortest
pieces into the top holes provided.  Insert and fasten 2 of the screws but do not tighten
all the way.
Middle support between the legs: Insert cross piece into the 2 lengths that have a hole
in the centre. Insert and fasten 2 of the screws but do not tighten all the way.

Insert cross piece into front legs. Insert and fasten 2 of the screws but do not tighten all
the way.

Insert one of the back legs into chair and then attach front legs with the cross piece.
Insert and fasten 1 of the screws but do not tighten all the way.

Insert the last back leg into chair and cross piece. Insert and fasten 1 of the screws but
do not tighten all the way.
Tap legs firmly into seat. Fasten and tighten 4 screws to secure the seat to the legs.

Turn chair the correct way up. Exert pressure on seat and then tighten the screws which
were not tightened previously.
