VESTING PRAYERS
(For Priests)
Da, Dómine, virtútem mánibus meis
ad abstergéndam omnem máculam; ut
sine pollutióne mentis et córporis
váleam tibi servíre.
Impóne, Dómine, cápiti meo gáleam
salútis, ad expugnándos diabólicos
incúrsus.
Deálba me, Dómine, et munda cor
meum; ut, in sánguine Agni dealbátus,
gáudiis pérfruar sempitérnis.
Præcínge me, Dómine, cíngulo
puritátis, et exstíngue in lumbis meis
humórem libídinis; ut maneat in me
virtus continéntiæ et castitátis.
Mérear, Dómine, portáre manípulum
fletus et dolóris; ut cum exsultatióne
recípiam mercédem labóris.
Redde mihi, Dómine, stolam
immortalitátis, quam pérdidi in

Dómine, qui dixísti: Jugum meam
suáve est et onus meum leve: fac, ut
istud portáre sic váleam, quod

Give virtue to my hands, O Lord, that
WASHING OF HANDS being cleansed from all stain I might serve
Thee with purity of mind and body.
Place upon me, O Lord, the helmet of
AMICE salvation, that I may overcome the assaults
of the devil.
Purify me, O Lord, and cleanse my heart,
ALB so that, washed in the Blood of the Lamb, I
may enjoy eternal bliss.
Gird me, O Lord, with the cincture of
CINCTURE purity, and quench in my heart the fire of
concupiscence, that the virtue of
continence and chastity may abide in me.
May I deserve, O Lord, to bear the maniple
MANIPLE of weeping and sorrow, that I may receive
the reward for my labors with rejoicing.
Restore unto me, O Lord, the stole of
immortality, which was lost through the
STOLE guilt of our first parents: and, although I
am unworthy to approach Thy sacred
Mysteries, nevertheless grant unto me
eternal joy.
O Lord, Who said, “My yoke is easy and
CHASUBLE My burden light”: grant that I may bear it
well and follow after Thee with
thanksgiving. Amen.
PRAYER BEFORE MASS

Almighty and everlasting God, behold I
come to the Sacrament of Thine only-
begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ: I come
as one infirm to the physician of life, as one
unclean to the fountain of mercy, as one
blind to the light of everlasting brightness,
as one poor and needy to the Lord of
heaven and earth. Therefore I implore the
abundance of Thy measureless bounty that
Thou wouldst vouchsafe to heal my
infirmity, wash my uncleanness, enlighten
my blindness, enrich my poverty and
clothe my nakedness, that I may receive
the Bread of Angels, the King of kings, the
Lord of lords, with such reverence and
humility, with such sorrow and devotion,
with such purity and faith, with such
purpose and intention as may be profitable
to my soul's salvation. Grant unto me, I
pray, the grace of receiving not only the
Sacrament of our Lord's Body and Blood,
but also the grace and power of the
Sacrament. O most gracious God, grant me
so to receive the Body of Thine only-
begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, which
He took from the Virgin Mary, as to merit
to be incorporated into His mystical Body,
and to be numbered amongst His
members. O most loving Father, give me
grace to behold forever Thy beloved Son
with His face at last unveiled, whom I now
purpose to receive under the sacramental
veil here below.

PRAYERS WHILE REMOVING THE
VESTMENTS
I GIVE Thee thanks, O Lord, Holy Father,
Almighty, Everlasting God, who, for no
merits of my own, but only out of the
condescension of Thy mercy, hast
vouchsafed to feed me, a sinner, Thy
unworthy servant, with the precious Body
and Blood of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ.
AND I pray that this Holy Communion may
not bring guilt upon me to condemnation,
but may intercede for me to my pardon and
salvation.
LET it be to me an armor of faith, and a
shield of good purpose.
LET it be to me a riddance of all vices, an
extermination of all evil desires and lusts;
an increase of love and patience, of
humility and obedience, and all virtues.
LET it be to me a firm defense against the
wiles of my enemies, visible and invisible;
a perfect quieting of all my impulses,
fleshly and spiritual; a firm adherence to
Thee, the One true God; and a blessed
consummation of my end.
AND I pray Thee, that Thou wouldst
vouchsafe to bring me, a sinner, to that
unspeakable Feast, where Thou, with Thy
Son and the Holy Ghost, art to Thy Saints
true light, full satisfaction, everlasting joy,
complete delight, and perfect happiness.

PRAYER AFTER MASS

I give thanks to Thee, O Lord, most holy,
Father almighty, eternal God, that Thou
hast vouchsafed, for no merit of mine own,
but out of Thy pure mercy, to appease the
hunger of my soul with the precious body
and blood of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus
Christ. Humbly I implore Thee, let not this
holy communion be to me an increase of
guilt unto my punishment, but an availing
plea unto pardon and salvation. Let it be to
me the armour of faith and the shield of
good will. May it root out from my heart
all vice; may it utterly subdue my evil
passions and all my unruly desires. May it
perfect me in charity and patience; in
humility and obedience; and in all other
virtues. May it be my sure defence against
the snares laid for me by my enemies,
visible and invisible. May it restrain and
quiet all my evil impulses, and make me
ever cleave to Thee Who art the one true
God. May I owe to it a happy ending of my
life. And do Thou, O heavenly Father,
vouchsafe one day to call me, a sinner, to
that ineffable banquet, where Thou,
together with Thy Son and the Holy Ghost,
art to Thy saints true and unfailing light,
fullness of content, joy for evermore,
gladness without alloy, consummate and
everlasting happiness. Through the same
Christ our Lord.
