Table 2 (Format). [Recommended Evacuation Areas for Barangays Affected by Taal Base Surge]

Write a narrative which will answer these questions (for 1 paragraph, minimum of 3 barangays): Which
areas will you suggest/ recommend for temporary evacuation? Why did you suggest this? (Accessible?
Ensures safety? Relatively unharmed location?)

In Batangas, there are three primary evacuation centers located in the following areas which are
best suited for temporary evacuation: Barangay Calayaan’s Sta. Teresita, Barangay San Juan’s Alitagtag,
and Barangay Dos’ Mataasnakahoy. These areas are strategically located on safe grounds beyond the 11
km (east and west of the map) and 14 km (north and south of the map) danger zones of the Taal Volcano.
Specifically, Mataasnakahoy has a distance of 12 km from the PDZ, Sta. Teresita has a distance of 16 km
from the PDZ, and Alitagtag has a distance of 14-15 km from the PDZ. These distances are considered
safe from the most devastating effects of the Taal base surge. Moreover, the Batangas local government
has designed the evacuations sites of these respective areas to be as safe as possible, making them
optimal temporary shelters. In short, the evacuation centers in the aforementioned areas are accessible,
safe, and are in a relatively unharmed location.
